It`s a Winchester Model 60A single-shot, bolt-action, . 22-cal. rimfire chambered for the Short, Long and Long Rifle cartridges. According to my research, it is an early version due to the 23″ barrel and lack of finger grooves on the fore-end. This version was only manufactured between 1932 and 1933.
For the vast majority of hunters under field conditions, the maximum effective range of the . 308 Winchester is around 300 yards, and 400 would be pushing it. At these ranges, the terminal ballistic performance of a well-designed hunting bullet fired from the . 308 is usually very good.
The John Browning–designed Winchester Model 1894 is the most prevalent of the Winchester repeating rifles. The Model 1894 was first chambered for the .32-40 and .38-55 cartridges, and later, a variety of calibers such as .25-35 WCF, .30-30, and .32 Winchester Special.
The Winchester Model 1894 rifle (also known as the Winchester 94 or Model 94) is a lever-action repeating rifle that became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles of all time.
The Cooey Model 60 is a bolt action repeating rifle that appeared in 1939–1940, capable of firing .
For those reasons, the 270 Winchester is a quintessential deer and sheep hunting cartridge. The cartridge is not limited to thin-skinned medium game like sheep or deer though. Indeed, many hunters use the 270 Winchester on bigger game like black bear, elk, and even moose with a lot of success each year though.
His pride and joy was the revolutionary Winchester repeating rifle, one of the first guns to fire rounds repeatedly, taking away the cumbersome need to stop and reload. The Winchester became an icon of the American frontier – used by cowboys, Native Americans, outlaws, sheriffs and even President Theodore Roosevelt.
Winchester Model 70

The Model 70 is without a doubt one of the most famous bolt-action rifles in history having developed a loyal following among American sportsmen during the peak of the rifle`s production.

The Winchester Model 70 series rifles are marketed as sniper rifles for military forces and law enforcement agencies under the Fabrique Nationale banner as the Special Police Rifle (SPR) and the Patrol Bolt Rifle (PBR).
Lever guns can be cycled extremely quickly, allowing for very rapid follow-up shots on wounded game. Bolt actions are just slower – no question about it. Most bolt actions also have fairly limited ammunition capacity, usually on the order of 3+1 or 4+1.
The . 30-30 is by far the most common cartridge shot from lever action rifles.
There were only 132 One of One Thousand rifles produced in the Winchester 1873 Model, and a scant eight of the Model 1873 One of One Hundreds– only six of which are known today.
The new technology included a spring-closed loading port on the right-hand side of the frame, directly at the rear of the magazine tube, and resulted in the first reliable lever-action repeating rifle, produced as the first Winchester, Model 1866.
7.62 NATO is rated for a lower max pressure than . 308 Winchester. 7.62 NATO`s rating is about 60,000 PSI, and . 308 Win`s is 62,000.
Today, I have proved that the Winchester SX4 is the fastest semi-automatic rifle in the world.” In fact, Raniero Testa obtained his record by breaking the 13 trays in only 1.6 seconds!
They are then manufactured in our partner factory in Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul is a key manufacturing and trade center for Europe. Some SXP parts may be sourced from our other Winchester group factories in Western Europe.
A Lever Action . 30-30 Winchester Is Still One of the Best Deer Hunting Rifles (and Here`s Why) Over its more than 125-year lifetime, the lever-action . 30-30 rifle has arguably killed more whitetail deer than any other single cartridge.
The . 30-06 is accurate, but is rarely known for match-winning groups, which depends on the rifle and the load. This group was fired from an out-of-the-box Savage with Federal factory loads.
The AK-47 and AKM, with the 7.62 × 39 mm cartridge, have a maximum effective range of around 300 meters (330 yd).
But the evidence from manufacturer advertising, military manuals, expert writing, and civilian owners themselves is that the 50 caliber rifles are accurate at ranges of at least 1,000 yards, and in the hands of a patiently trained and well-practiced marksman, nearly 2,000 yards.
While the 22lr is accurate and easy to shoot it does fail to penetrate adequately. The 9mm, on the other hand, was specifically designed as a combat cartridge. As the standard round for the US Military and NATO, it is much larger and powerful than the 22lr.
22 Bullet Travel? A . 22 caliber bullet can travel 1.13 miles or about 2,000 yards. It has an effective range, though, of only 300 yards.
In the 1800s the idea of a repeating rifle was finally realized by Oliver Winchester, the largest stockholder of the New Haven Arms Company of Connecticut. He was assigned U.S. patent No. 5501, which protected improvements to the Henry Rifle.
After its 1989 bankruptcy, the company was acquired by the Belgian arms maker, FN Herstal, which also owns Browning. The privately owned company continues to manufacture under the Winchester Repeating Arms brand.

Winchester model 1200 action stuck open – Sport & Outdoor – Others
ANSWER : You have to make sure the hammer on the trigger group is cocked and then you have to make sure the slide arms are in the cutouts on the bottom of the bolt assembly. You assemble the trigger group to the receiver by carefully working the front end of the trigger group into the slots at the front end of the receiver. Then gently push the rear end of the trigger group down into position. This should go in easy if everything is lined up–don’t force it.Then install the trigger guard pin from right to left until its flush with the receiver.I took all the above from the pdf manual I have for the model 1200 that I found online. The pictures would help (page three). I’m looking for a link to the manual and will post it when I find it.Here, its on page three of the manual: http://gunmanuals.net/Manuals/winchester_1200.pdf

The following is Wisner’s rendition & info on the subject.
The difference in the old firing pin and the new one is as follows. The old replaced
style, was totally lathe tuned (round). While the new recall style is similar in lathe
turning on the front and back, but in the front midsection it has two flats milled, one
on each side. This makes the center section stronger. Also replaced is the bolt sleeve
lock pin (firing pin guide) which was made to accommodate this different shaped firing
pin
Part number for the new parts are, firing pin =1391ND, bolt sleeve locking pin =1491ND
The word was at the time this recall was in process was that if the firing pin would
break at the mid section and still remain in the gun as two pieces, the possibility of a
premature discharge before the bolt was locked was possible. This apparently was caused
by the firing pin tip (now not having a retracting spring) to be stuck forward, and
thereby slam-firing upon chambering.
The responsibility for the recall apparently was on Olin, as they were the parent company
at time of manufacture. Olin set up regional recall centers at three established US
gunshops. There was a manufacturing delay in the replacement firing pins, and a backlog
occurred, also some collectors did not like the idea of shipping their guns long
distances. Olin then also authorized other gunshops to make the required alterations.
Upon completion of the recall, the shops were to test fire the firearm and to stamp an
assigned letter on the inside top of the receiver as seen thru the magazine well with the
bolt retracted. The letter “B” represented Bolsa Gunsmithing, “L” was Lefever, and “N”
was for Nu-line Guns. The letter “X” apparently was for all the other independent shops.
However this identification information did not get communicated to some of the smaller
shops at the start of the project. The only way to tell if the gun as been modified, if
the ”letter” is not present, is to take the barrel & action out of the stock, remove the
trigger guard assembly and the try to rotate the firing pin by twisting it. If it does
NOT rotate, then the firing pin recall HAS been performed.
