If it says 30WCF on the barrel it was made before 1942 (WWII). If it days 30-30 on the barrel it was made after WWII. Winchester can tell you the production date if you provide them the serial number.
The Model 94 was produced continuously by Winchester from 1894 through 1980 when the production of the gun was taken up by the U.S. Repeating Arms Company, which made the Model 94 until 2006. Reproductions of the rifle are now made in Japan and imported by Browning Arms Company.
30-30 was among the first cartridges utilizing smokeless gunpowder. It was introduced by Winchester in 1895 in its Model 94 lever action rifle which was the product of famed gun designer John Browning. Shooting a 160-grain jacketed bullet at almost 2,000 feet per second, it was a speed demon at the time.
The serial number will be on the receiver. While older units may have either the entire serial number on all the major parts, or the last 4 digits of it on parts than the receiver, the one that counts is the numbers on the receiver.
History. Most individual manufacturers habitually put serial numbers on the weapons they produce. Such numbers can be used to ascertain the name of the manufacture, place and date of manufacture. At least for some manufacturers, a serial number can unlock myriad details about the weapon.
These Special Short Carbines, as the factory called them, are exceedingly rare, were never cataloged, and were ultimately discontinued in 1933. In 1924, the rifle was discontinued and the saddle ring was eliminated on the carbine in 1932, although it still could be special ordered up until 1942.
The venerable Winchester Model 94 lever-action rifle was discontinued, along with the Model 70 boltaction rifle and the Model 1300 pump-action shotgun. U.S. Repeating Arms and its Belgian parent company, Fabrique National, determined that production in the New Haven, Connecticut, plant was no longer feasible.
The new technology included a spring-closed loading port on the right-hand side of the frame, directly at the rear of the magazine tube, and resulted in the first reliable lever-action repeating rifle, produced as the first Winchester, Model 1866. Manufacturing of the Model 1866 started in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Checking the serial number against the Internet records from Winchester, your rifle was manufactured in 1960, so condition is going to mean a lot. I recommend you check into gunbroker dot com. On that site, they show the Model 94 Winchester listed for anywhere from $600-$900.

I have an Octogonal barrelled L/A, marked Model 92 Winchester 25-20 WCF. Ser No 203049. Is this an 1892 or just a 92 model or is that the same thing. It has a short magazine tube( to the end of the fore end timber).
What would be the manufacture date & where can I get support to reassemble the action ( like an exploded view & hints) as I stripped it years ago & now am blueing the bits for reassembly.

Which is another way of say, book value is great, but only if someone is willing to offer that. http://www.firearmspriceguide.com/guns/search/winchester/ gives a broad idea of the range of prices, but makes no specific mention of the Limited Edition walmart model.

I have a winchester 70 30-06 sprng. serial number is G2571946 I am looking to sell it and i would like to know what a fair price would be. would you be able to help me out with this?
ANSWER : Hi David, It’s har to pin down a specific price without knowing the actual year of the firearm. This rifle is post 64 so the value wont be as high as a pre-64. With that said and the information given and assuming that the gun is in fair to good condition you will be looking at roughly $450-$600 range. Accessories and modifications could raise or lower that approximation. I really hope that this points you in the right direction. I may be new to Fixya but i know my guns. Let me know if this helps.
