Check your tape measure, the smallest number of mm you can see will be the size above what you need (e.g. if you can see 9mm, but not 8mm – your pole will be 8.5mm diameter). For the very small sizes of pole less than 7.9mm replacement sections are not stocked. These will need to ordered from the tent manufacturer.
Some brands produce their own pole kits to suit their tents. But for the most part, there are all interchangeable with the only variants being the material and the adjustable lengths.
The skeleton of the tent – the poles or air tubes. Basically, there are two main types of tent pole: Bendy ones and rigid ones. Bendy ones are more flexible and usually lighter, rigid ones are generally more robust and heavy-duty.
The difference between aluminum and fiberglass tent poles is that aluminum poles are lighter, stronger, longer lasting and a better choice for backpacking tents or large tents. Fiberglass poles are cheaper to produce however, so you`ll often see fiberglass tent poles used in budget casual camping tents.
1. Tie one end of your rope around the tree, far enough out so that when hanging loose it hits the center of the spot you have in mind for your tent. If the tree is too tall to reach or shimmy up and tie one end, throw the rope over the tree and work with the double length instead!

Well, rest assured, it is no big issue – it is only there to make pitching easier by ensuring the sections stay together while you thread them through the sleeves and place under tension. The lack of an elastic cord in no way affects the tent integrity.
Aluminum`s sturdiness and excellent performance explain its widespread use across the tent-making industry. It is relatively lightweight and ideal for the cold winter season. Campers who have used aluminum pole tents can attest to their durability as they don`t break easily.
Aluminum is a great metal. It is lightweight, strong and durable, hence a good choice for use on hikes off the beaten track. It is our choice of metal for use in poles and stakes in all our tent models. It reacts little to other substances but aluminum in its purest form reacts very readily with the oxygen in the air.
In broadcast programming and motion pictures, a tent-pole or tentpole is a program or film that supports the financial performance of a film studio, television network, or cinema chain.
Re: Replacing fibreglass tent poles with aluminium.

Besides the weight, there`s one more point for the aluminium pole. Whenever a fiberglass pole breaks, you barely can fix it. So you would have to take some replacement with you.

Aluminum is much stronger compared to other materials such as fiberglass. This material combines malleability and strength to make it useful and versatile.
If your tent pole only has a small crack, wrapping it with tape and hardening it with the glue should hold it together until you can get a replacement. But if it`s a full-on break, then more drastic measures are required.
Air tents use air tubes instead of poles for the majority of the tents pitching. This allows for a faster, simpler tent to pitch yet with strong, upright walls. These air tents are rapidly becoming the no 1 choice for families due to this simplicity.
2. Fix a broken tent pole. Generally, tent poles are pretty robust, but should you arrive at the campsite to find that one of yours is damaged, find a suitable stick and use your duct tape to attach it to the damaged pole for extra reinforcement.
You will need 1/8” thick shock cord and about 1-2 ft. longer than the length of the entire pole for each pole (if you have a 10ft pole get about 12ft, some say a ¾ 1. ratio might be better). Remove the end tip, and the shock cord will be tied in a knot (either on a washer or on the end tip of the pole).
If the cord itself is frayed or has exposed wiring, you`ll need to replace the entire electrical cord. Replacing only the plug could leave you open to electrical shock.
1. : the highest horizontal timber in a roof against which the upper ends of the rafters are fixed. 2. : the horizontal pole at the top of a tent.
In fact, most people who try it PREFER floorless tents in wet ground to a floored tent. With a floorless tent you can simply walk in with muddy boots and not worry about tracking mud or water inside. With a conventional floored tent once muck and water get inside it is trapped and very difficult to remove.
Tent pegs are used to secure your tent into place, helping to create a stronger and more comfortable shelter. They`ll make sure that your tent isn`t as susceptible to bad weather conditions, providing you with much-needed protection against your tent becoming compromised from windy conditions.
Our answer is always yes. There are 3 main reasons why we suggest that you always take footprint groundsheet when using your family tent. MARKS OUT THE PITCH OF YOUR TENT – Footprint groundsheets are shaped to fit your tent so you when you lay it down it marks out the space for your tent to go on.
The standard size shockcord for most aluminum and carbon fiber poles is 1/8″ (our item #2400) but when weight is more critical you can use 3/32″ shockcord (our item #2402). The standard size for fiberglass is the 3/32”.
There are two types of pole elastics, solid and hollow. Hollow elastic is typically higher quality and will last a lot longer than solid elastics.
Match the size of bush to your elastic and always use a slightly bigger one.

I have faced many similar things and I find remembering the wise old saying “in order to get the right answer it is important to first ask the right question”…

I suggest you ask around those who should know such things – the coach at the local schools, local teams. If you don’t get satisfaction then why not ask your local repair shop or fabricator if they can make what you need at a reasonable cost.
