Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
Hello,
I work out at a remote fishing lodge in Alaska and the Jiffy auger we have here says 24:1 on the unit but I know for a fact ( cu’z I do the mixing ) that we run it using a 40:1 mix Ratio and it works great.
I have heard stories from other fishermen that they are running ‘ Amsoil* ‘ in there Jiffy augers at a mix ratio of 80:1 and they say that it cut down on the smoking of motor.
fish on,stay warm and have fun,

How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

We offer a diverse range of insights on identifying and resolving common problems in sports. Our sources encompass academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays shared by seasoned athletes. :

10.5 ounces of oil to 1 gallon of fuel. Use non ethanol gas of you can.
In fact, extra oil can harm your carburetor, make your auger harder to start, and is more likely to leak out your muffler. “You don`t want any of those hassles, so stick with a 40:1 ratio,” Hawthorne says. That`s 3.2 oz. of oil per 1 gallon of gas.
If your manufacturer recommends a 50:1 fuel/oil mix, it means you need 50 parts of gas to one part two-stroke oil. To mix one gallon of fuel at 50:1, add 2.6 ounces of two-stroke oil to one gallon of gas, as shown in the chart below.
For a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, use 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 40:1 mixture, use 3.2 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas.
You need to make sure your drill is set to its lowest speed setting and set to “drill” mode. Using a drill on “hammer” setting will likely dull or damage the auger blades and slow down the drilling process. These high-torque drills should include an auxiliary handle, and you`ll want to make sure you use it.
As a general rule, the best-sized hand auger for ice fishing is a 6″ model. A 6″ hole is large enough to allow bigger fish up through the hole. In contrast, an 8″ hole takes more physical effort to drill by hand. For panfish and the smaller species of fish, you can downsize to a 4″ or 5″ hand auger.
Works with all Eskimo® 2-cycle augers. Pre-mixed and packaged at a 50:1 fuel ratio. Meets all warranty standards for Viper® 2-cycle engines.
Gas-powered augers put out more fumes than propane but both are noticeable, especially when fishing inside a hardhouse. Propane-powered augers don`t require fuel mixing like gas augers but you will need a supply of propane when you`re on the ice. Drill bit augers are becoming increasingly popular.
Gas-powered augers have a long history of strength and durability. These augers are typically more powerful than electric augers, which can help make more holes faster so you can get back to your ice shelter in no time.
The ratio of produced gas to produced oil, commonly abbreviated GOR. The ratio of the volume of gas that comes out of solution to the volume of oil at standard conditions.
Your best bet is to buy oil in pre-measured 3.2 oz. bottles that you can simply add per gallon of gas you put in the tank. Also, it`s OK to use a 40:1 gas-to-oil mixture even if your engine calls for 24:1. You`ll use less oil and your auger will run better and cleaner.
MTD two-cycle snow throwers use a 50:1 ratio of gasoline to 2-cycle oil, which is one gallon of gasoline to 2.5 oz of 2-cycle oil.

The pull cord on my jiffy ice auger model 30 has broke and I need a new one. I do not need a new ice aguer just the pull cord which is located at the top.
ANSWER : If you just need the cord — most hardware stores do carry replacement cord ( sold by the foot ),, if you look in the chainsaw department you should be able to find the size that you need. as soon as you have the cord you can re spool the winding unit and this will restore the pull start function.
you can also buy the cord at your local lawn and garden shops, snowmobile shops or chainsaw shops.

1. Read through the whole list before you start adjusting. 2. Close both jets GENTLY3. Open the Low speed 1/4 turn4. Open high speed jet 1 1/4 turn
5. Start engine.6. Adjust low speed until idling smoothly.7. Open her up wide open.8. Adjust High speed until engine transitions smoothly from idle to high speed without bogging.9. Shut engine off. Let it cool.10. Once engine is cold. Fire it up and let it idle for 30 secs. Open it up wide open again. Adjust if necassary.NOTE 1: The trick with the Jiffy’s is to tune them during cold (ice fishing) weather.NOTE 2: Low speed screw, the one on the left.NOTE 3: High speed on the right.
