To Determine Manufacture Date Based on Serial Number: The 1st three numbers of your serial number will always provide your manufacture date. The 1st number is the YEAR of manufacture; the 2nd & 3rd numbers indicate the MONTH of manufacture.
In 1873 Winchester introduced the Model 1873 that used . 44-40 WCF (Winchester Center Fire) cartridges, which became known as the gun that won the West. From 1883 John Moses Browning worked with the Winchester company to design a number of rifles and shotguns.
The Federal Gun Control Act of 1968 requires that serial numbers be stamped on all firearms manufactured for sale in the United States since 1968.
Many shotguns (Mossberg, Stevens, etc.) have the serial number located on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. Others (Winchester) have the serial number located on the bottom of the frame forward of the loading port.
The Obliterated Serial Number Program allows law enforcement agencies to identify recovered firearms whose origins have been masked by serial number destruction or alteration. ATF uses the information to identify firearms trafficking patterns and related crimes.
Serial numbers, first required by the federal Gun Control Act of 1968, are intended to prevent illegal gun sales and make it easier to solve crimes by allowing individual guns to be traced.
In fact, two of the most famous Winchester model firearms in history, are the Model 12 shotgun and the Model 70 bolt-action rifle.
Winchester`s Model 12 was no slouch either. It was arguably the most widely sought-after pump gun for decades, until the Remington 870 came along.
The shotgun`s initial production run from 1931 through 1960 yielded approximately 30,000 guns. Winchester Repeating Arms Company ceased the main production line of this shotgun in 1960 and the Model 21 was sourced to the Winchester Custom Shop until the gun`s retirement in 1991.
Finding the Gun Model
Model numbers or names are often stamped or engraved on the barrel or slide, often along with the Make.
Pick suitable shot sizes
“Shot” refers to the pellets within a shell. Pellets come in different sizes depending on what they`ll be used for – the smaller the pellet number, the larger the pellet.
Shot Size. Shot size is expressed as a number, generally from No. 9 (very small) to BB (large), and going even larger if you get into buckshot sizing. This indicates the size of the individual pellets of shot, and the larger the number, the smaller the shot, thus the more pellets will fit in the shell.

ANSWER : Hi,
Attach the orange wire (FROM THE ALTERNATOR) to the stud on the starter solenoid that you connect the red battery cable.. Looking at the studded end of the solenoid, the small stud on the right side gets the yellow w/red stripe from the slave solenoid. The strapping coming out of the starter should be connected to one stud already. The empty large stud gets the two red and the orange wires.”
The Red/ Yellow wire goes to the Small stud, closest to the block,+ All the other wires go on the vacant Big stud.
