A geocoin is a special coin created by individuals or groups of geocachers as a kind of signature item or calling card. Each geocoin is assigned a unique tracking ID which allows them to travel from geocache to geocache or to be passed amongst friends, picking up stories along the way.
What do these geocaches look like? Good question. Traditionally, geocaches are waterproof containers (tupperware containers or ammunition boxes, for example), and inside them you`ll find a logbook for you to sign. You can also sign the online logbook to prove you`ve found it.
The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards.
Geocaching /ˈdʒiːoʊkæʃɪŋ/ is an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.
Like other cache items, geocoins are not worth much money.) Common materials found inside caches might include foreign currency, keychains, ornaments, or booklets. Valuable objects, food, or other items that could be easily damaged are not allowed in geocaching.
GeoCoin is an ERC20 token on Ubiq Network. Ubiq is a hard fork of Ethereum that implements the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) for smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps).
Go to geocaching.com to choose one of millions of geocaches hidden worldwide. Use your smartphone app or GPS to navigate to the cache. Keep an eye out so you can spy the cache`s camouflaged hiding place. Once you find the cache, sign the logbook, exchange one item and put everything back like you found it.
The free version lets you search for geocaches by location, type (Traditional or Event only), tracking code, and GeoTours. You can also view a geocache`s difficulty and terrain rating, read its description, message the person who placed it, share geocaches with others, and log whether you found it.
You can take an item from the geocache (if there is one) or leave an item for the next person. If you take an item, be sure to replace it with another item of equal or greater value. Since geocaching is a family activity, be sure that what you leave is family friendly and appropriate.
Masks and gloves protect you and your fellow cachers from any germs you might transfer via touching a geocache. Bring hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes. Even if you`re gloving up, consider bringing something to wipe down the cache after you`ve found it. Tiny packages of disinfectant wipes also make great SWAG items!
Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.
It`s a great outdoor activities for families. As well as having fun exploring the great outdoors, it teaches kids navigation skills using maps as well as skills like persistence when you can`t find a geocache easily.
We also restock the contents in the cache. “Unfortunately, sometimes a geocache is stolen so we also replace those that come up missing.”
Geocaching is a whole family adventure that can be done anywhere from near your home to around the world you travel. Kids as young as toddlers can help find caches, but it`s absolutely perfect for kids 5+ who`ll also get educational value out of the finds, locations, and creating a log of where they have been.

It is common for geocachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These unique locations on the planet can be quite diverse. A prime camping spot, great viewpoint, unusual location, etc., are all good places to hide a cache.
As well as finding caches, geocachers hide their own caches for others to find. Here is a step by step guide on making a geocache. If you haven`t already, then make an account and give geocaching a go before you jump straight in and make your own.

Geocache boxes come in all different shapes and sizes. They can be anything, but they are usually small, weatherproof boxes made of metal, wood, or plastic. You might find a camouflaged Altoids tin, a can of mixed nuts, or an ammo box. The cache will be hidden (but not buried) in a safe, non-intrusive place.
Back in May of 2000, when Dave Ulmer hid the world`s first geocache (stash) in the woods just outside of Estacada with instructions that finders “Take some stuff, leave some stuff,” little did he know that he was creating a new worldwide hobby.
Explosives, fireworks, ammunition, lighters, knives (including pocket knives and multi-tools), drugs, alcohol and any illicit material should not be placed in a cache. If someone other than you places an inappropriate item in a cache that you own and this is reported, the cache may be temporarily disabled.
A night cache is a geocache that is difficult or impossible to find during the day. Typically, the posted coordinates for a night cache are at the start of a path that leads to the exact location of the geocache.
This is referred to as the Tracking Code. From this point, it is up to you to decide whether or not to move the coin to another geocache. In no way should you keep it for yourself without explicit permission from the owner. Many geocoins have been lost to people who have held onto coins for themselves.
