You can look at the battery section of the Owner`s Manual of the car or truck. If the owner`s manual can`t be found, look at your existing battery and see what BCI Group Size is already installed. The Group Size is labeled in several places on the battery. Generally on the top and/or on the front of the battery.
If the bottom has the spring, the flat, or negative side, of the battery goes in first. If the bottom is flat, the raised, or positive side of the battery goes in. If there are symbols, simply match the “+” on the battery to the “+” in the compartment, and the “-” on the battery to the “-” in the compartment.
Different Battery Sizes

Generally, the larger the battery is, the more capacity it has for energy storage. So even though a big and small battery are both rated at 1.5V, the big battery stores more energy and provides a longer battery life.

Calculating the watt-hours based on the information printed on the outside of a battery is not difficult. Multiply the given volts by the battery capacity, shown as milliamps or mAh. Divide the sum by 1,000 to get the watt-hour rating.
Batteries mainly provide backup power during a power outage. At home, the batteries are typically connected to electrical appliances so that the appliances can still receive power if the power goes down. For example, utilities can charge customers different rates at different times of the day.

The sulphate and hydrogen ions basically switch places. The electrical energy used to charge a battery is converted back to chemical energy and stored inside the battery. Battery chargers, including alternators and generators, produce a higher voltage than the battery`s open circuit voltage.

BCI Group 4D, 6D, and 8D batteries are large and heavy commercial batteries, often used for off-the-grid applications, as solar batteries, as RV house batteries, for security, medical and standby applications, for powering various industrial vehicles and applications, etc.

The battery power is the amount of electrical energy stored in the battery. Mobile devices are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion (Li-ion) or lithium polymer (Li-poly) batteries. The power capacity of the battery has a direct impact on the usage time.

A battery can also fail – The most common defect is a dead cell. If your battery has a dead cell it will not register any higher than 10.5 volts. A dead cell means that the connection between one of the cells on the inside has been broken. With Lifeline batteries a dead cell is very uncommon but not impossible.
To charge a sealed lead acid battery, a DC voltage between 2.30 volts per cell (float) and 2.45 volts per cell (fast) is applied to the terminals of the battery. Depending on the state of charge (SoC), the cell may temporarily be lower after discharge than the applied voltage.
Each battery has two metal terminals. One is marked positive (+), the other negative (-). There are also positive and negative cables in the jumper cable set. The red one is positive (+), the black one is negative (-).
Look at the tag on the starter or look at how the batteries are hooked up. Have you lightly scraped any paint off of the starter`s data tag = it might say 12 V or 24 V; on it.

I have purchased three 750-watt power inverters in the last three weeks. They have all failed to work on the second or third use. The first two were the same brand. I replaced an old one that ran for several years. I am using it to run a 4.7 amp 120-volt vacuum cleaner motor that pumps up my air dock. I have it connected directly with marine cable to one of the boat batteries. The battery outputs about 12.8 volts DC. The fuses don?t blow, just No Output. I am using a three-wire 120-volt extension cord and am, wired neutral, hot and ground to the AC motor vial an on/off switch. The motor works fine when I run house power with an extension cord from the dock next to me. Could I be, just unlucky with new inverters and need to buy a forth one?
ANSWER : The problem may be that the inverter is undersized for the load. Is the 4.7 Amp rating the motor peak draw or the nominal one. What I mean is that it takes many times more power to start start the motor than when the motor is running. Typically it is 3 to 7 times more amps to start the motor than when it is running. It could be that starting the vacumm cleaner is stressing the inverter and it is causing it to fail prematurely. If you can find out the locked rotor current draw of the motor, the that would be the mininum size of the inverter.

Also, the type of inverter will make a difference on how the motor operates. A modified sine wave will make the motor run hotter than a pure sine wave inverter. Hope this helps.

How to insert battery. I have a 2 year old watch I have never used. I cannot get it to start so I presume the battery is dead. When I open the cover I find battery has a thin metal strip over it and cannot figure how to open it to get the battery out
ANSWER : Try to find a small micro liver to push and battery get released or try to slide the thin metal strip to any side so that u can take it out.

Dead battery? After sitting for 6 months w/o using, the battery was dead, I re-charged it and it would not hold the charge. The low battery light does not come on, after charging. If that is the problem, are these available for purchase to replace it and where can I buy one.
ANSWER : The battery is a commonly available 6 volt 4.5 ah sealed lead battery. Interstate has them and many other suppliers. I think same battery used some security systems…

Hiya I have a fujifilm e-900 I have used the camera less than 20 times. The last time I used it I had no problems at all. I had left it sitting in it’s case for 6 months. Now when I try and us it I get the hand with lightning bolt on the lcd. Which I assume means the battery encasement is open. It isn’t open. The camera turns on no problem then when I try and use any function it shuts down. How do I fix this?
ANSWER : The hand with the lightning bolt icon usually means the camera is telling you that there is not enough light and you need to pop the flash up before you take a picture.
If you haven’t used the camera for a while have you tried fresh batteries or charged the 2 re chargeable AA’s that came with the camera?

I have a Omron HJ113W-E pedometer and no instructions on how to use it. It was working fine and then my wife quit using it for several months. now it only has a flashing battery indacator. I checked the battery an it has 2,65 volts which i feel should be enough to power the unit. Are instruction manuels available?

ANSWER : Hi – I will allow for you to forgo payment to me – I am the service tech – the company will charge you – but I will not. I understand you’re wanting an answer but the price is steep. This is what I do for a living but I will not charge you my fee this time. Like I said the site will. The unit you have is nortorious for this sort of thing. The battery should however be renewed for science sake. We will never know if the unit demanded a new battery or not if we do not put a new one in. If by chance the unit doesn’t need it or the new battery does it no good – then by all means take the new battery back. The price you pay for a new battery takes into account as part of the profit to be charged you even if you never take a battery back – ever. As for the unit – I am shocked at how many companies with just the right push or shove will give out a brand new unit in spite of age or warranty. The people that manufacture these things do have some pride in their company and will most likely send you a new one if you convince them it failed as you have convinced me. Install new batteries – if that doesn’t work – attempt to send it back to the factory for replacement – Best of it. Rice

New battery just put boat in water always had a solar powered charger on battery took it off about a week ago today went to start boat battery dead. I do not know if it has altanator or what have a friend mechanic says he has a meter to test whatever, if you can send what to tes & numbers of tests & what might be bad or not hooked up. ANSWER : You will need to do 3 tests:

1 – you must find out if you have a short in the wiring: disconnect the + cable from the battery and put an ampermeter in there to close the circuit; if a current is detected it means that you have a short and it will drain the battery. To locate the short start disconnecting wires and look at the meter – when you will disconnect the wire that goes to the failed wire or part the current will stop flowing; find the faulty part and fix or replace it.2 – you must find out if the alternator is charging the battery correctly: start the motor, wait for half an hour then measure the voltage on the battery. If it’s below 14.1 volts then the alternator is failing and it will have to be replaced.3 – you must find out if the battery is in good working order: after the second test has finished shut down the engine and disconnect the battery; wait one hour and measure it -if the voltage on it has dropped to below 11.8 volts then the battery has aged and it’s no longer holding the charge so replace it.
