The easiest and quickest way to fix a broken pole is with a pole repair sleeve. Also called a splint, this short tube is often provided with your tent. If not, buy one and pack it with you. A good pole repair sleeve is just slightly larger in diameter than your pole so that it doesn`t move around too much.
Some brands produce their own pole kits to suit their tents. But for the most part, there are all interchangeable with the only variants being the material and the adjustable lengths.
Aluminum is much stronger compared to other materials such as fiberglass. This material combines malleability and strength to make it useful and versatile.
Fill the crack with a fair amount of fiberglass epoxy resin, using a plastic applicator. Make sure the crack is completely filled. Let the epoxy dry for a day. When the area is dry, smooth the surface with sandpaper.
There are two ways to create a fiberglass patch. The first method is to build the patch, ply by ply, directly on the repair area. The second method is to build the entire fiberglass patch on a separate work area, wetting out the fiberglass between each layer, then transferring the patch to the repair area.
The skeleton of the tent – the poles or air tubes. Basically, there are two main types of tent pole: Bendy ones and rigid ones. Bendy ones are more flexible and usually lighter, rigid ones are generally more robust and heavy-duty.

Poles. Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) – also known as fibreglass –is a popular material for tent poles because it is relatively cheap to produce, lightweight and bends easily around the curves of a tent.
Fiberglass light poles are competitively priced with an average lifespan of between 15 and 20 years.
Because fiberglass boats are usually bigger, heavier, and more complicated in their construction, they`re often more expensive than small aluminum boats.
Advantages of Aluminum Boats

In general, aluminum boats are less expensive than their fiberglass counterparts, making them affordable for even the most unenthusiastic hobbyist. Also, aluminum boats are less costly when making repairs and less in overall operating costs due to their lightweight.

While it is a useful and lightweight material, it can be damaged relatively easily. To fix fiberglass that has cracked, you must first assess the extent of the damage and then prepare the surface.
Fibreglass is known to be a hard-to-break material when it is used to reinforce something else. However, despite the strength of GRP in boats, there are still external factors that could lead to its degradation. When fibreglass is exposed to UV rays, water and saltwater, it wears down faster.
Shredding or grinding the fiberglass destroys many of the glass fibers, reducing their size, strength, and therefore the usefulness for future applications.
No long-term health effects should occur from touching fiberglass. Eyes may become red and irritated after exposure to fiberglass. Soreness in the nose and throat can result when fibers are inhaled. Asthma and bronchitis can be aggravated by exposure to fiberglass.
Carbon fiber tent poles

Carbon fiber tent poles are the best material you can get a tent pole in! They are the strongest, most durable, and lightest tent poles available.

The bend is by design and accommodates the strong arc and steep walls and actually improves performance. If you get a slight bend, not by design, this won`t affect the overall performance of the tent so resist the urge to bend it back into shape. Bending poles back stresses the metal further and causes damage.
Apply 2-part epoxy to the exposed side of the fiberglass pole. Open your 2-part epoxy and pour it into a bowl. Use a paintbrush to spread a thin layer of the epoxy on the exposed end of the fiberglass pole. Once the 2-part epoxy is mixed, work quickly so it doesn`t dry or set before you put your rod back together.
If a standard plastic glue isn`t enough to do the trick, try using a soldering iron to melt the edges of the fractured plastic. A strong chemical solvent like acetone can even dissolve some types of plastic entirely, allowing you to paint them onto the damaged piece wherever needed.

My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.

I have a 2001 Yamaha XL700Z Waverunner. The compression on both cylinders is about 120, it starts and runs fine – dry. Won’t quite idle, but I can start it and rev it up fine (for a short period, of course). However, as soon as it gets in the water, it will barely run – it will start and sputter and you cannot get it to run more than a few seconds or rev up. Take it back out, let it dry, starts & revs fine. It is not getting any water in the casing that I can tell, its almost as if water is getting something wet through the cooling system that I cannot see?
