Yesterday, I had a fully functioning Garmin GPS12 running software 4.00. I went to the Garmin site and saw that 4.60 update was available for GPS12’s running 4.00 or higher. I downloaded 4.60 to my PC and started the upload to the GPS12. I got a message like “upload in progress” but after about 10 minutes, the dreaded “upload not present” showed on the LCD screen. At that point the GPS12 would not function except for turning on and off with the power button and displaying the “upload not present” message. I attempted to re-try the upload but both the “Updater” and “WebUpdater” programs report

Make sure the watch has a clear view to the sky with no obstructions (buildings, patio covers, dense foliage). If you have traveled over 100 miles since last using the watch, have not used the watch in a long time, or have reset the watch recently it may take 2-5 minutes to acquire satellite signal.
NOTE: This deletes all user-entered information and activity history. If you have set up a Garmin Pay™ wallet, restoring default settings also deletes the wallet from your device. You can reset all of the device settings to the factory default values. Hold the touchscreen.
NOTE: Data that has already been synced into your Garmin Connect account will not be removed when you remove the device from the app. Data on your watch will also not be removed unless you perform a reset on the watch.

To restart, connect the watch to the power data cable and plug it into an external power source such as a computer USB port, then disconnect from the cable. This process causes an internal restart of the watch. Return to the Garmin Connect app to attempt the pairing process again.

I seem to have lost the alarm (BEEP) on my Garmin 305.
ANSWER : It’s a known problem. The little speakers inside get corroded and gradually get quieter and quieter. If you are still within warranty, then send it back to Garmin for a fix. If not, there isn’t a home-user fix for this problem, so you’ll have to decide if it’s worth the $$ to get it fixed. Personally, I decided to get mine fixed.
Vibelife 7117 Error message E1, blowing fuses.
Will not start at first, just gives E1 error message. Leave it paused for a while, then it will start but blows 15A fuse straight away. Have disconnected the drive belt from the motor to the drive roller and fuse still blows with no load on motor.
ANSWER : There is no solution to this problem. Its a Vibelife brand – that’s the Problem! Vibelife is like any number of Chinese, Taiwanese build clones, they are ordered in a batch of several thousand by some dodgy importer and once that batch is sold on ebay or ozauction, its close up shop, order another batch with a different faceplate on the control console and away they go again. In short you’ve got buckleys chance of fixing it so my advice is:
a. Chuck it and get another one of those el’ cheapo treadmills. After all they generally last about a 18 months under normal use and you can afford to buy four of those before you match the price of a professional home use machine.
b. Kind of like above only buy the professional home use machine for about $2600 and make sure is has a 3yr warranty on the motor and control boards. They should last you at least 5 years under normal home use.
c. As for a. but forget buying a treadmill, Invest in gym membership. For about the same price as an el’ cheapo treadmill you could have a year’s membership, all the treadmills you can use and a whole heap of other machinery as well, not to mention the excercise classes you could go to for fun, socialising and general fitness.

My Garmin Fishfinder 240 Blue stopped displaying the depth in feet. In that location on the display is what looks like morse code “–.-” (Dash, Dash, Dot, Dash). Is this a Garmin error mesage?
Thanks,
Tom
ANSWER : The –.- indicates that either the unit isn’t receiving a signal from the transducer or the signal is out of the range for the unit/display.
