In the event you forget to load an arrow into the crossbow but attempt to take a shot, the string will be caught by the DFI, which helps to prevent damage to the bow assembly.
A: Again there is not set number of shots a crossbow string will last due to many variables. I have seen some cheap strings only last 50 shots and seen other custom strings last over 1000 shots. The important thing is to check your crossbow string regularly and replace if you start to see wear.
The Nock. The nock is made from either plastic or aluminum in most cases, and it is attached to the back of the shaft. The purpose of a nock is to keep the bolt in place as you line up for the shot.
In general, crossbows have more speed and accuracy than compound bows. Some of the fastest compound bow speeds on the market are anywhere from 320 to 350 feet per second. The Crossbow: Weapon of the Devil
According to Webster, a crossbow is a weapon for shooting quarrels that consists of a short bow mounted crosswise near the end of a stock. According to the Pope, the crossbow was an instrument of Satan, hateful to God and unfit for Christians.
In range and power, a crossbow is equivalent to a longbow or compound bow that is about half the crossbow`s draw weight.
The crossbow is, for legal purposes, often categorized as a firearm by various legal jurisdictions (even though it is not considered as a firearm from a technical perspective), despite the fact that no combustion is required to propel the projectile.

Crossbow strings have a lifespan that will vary depending on the manufacturer. Some can be as little as 1-2 years and others can last up to 4-5 years, depending on how often you shoot! That means you can expect to shoot your bow between 150 and 600 times before you need to restring your bow.
As you might expect, lighter crossbow arrows will shoot faster than heavier crossbow arrows. However, with more weight, the heavier crossbow arrows will produce more kinetic energy at impact. For you to decide which weight is best for you to shoot, you must consider the scenario in which you are shooting.
Shooting heavy crossbow arrows have many other advantages than just increased power, like being more accurate at longer distances, making your crossbow quieter, and reducing the amount of stress to the crossbow`s parts over the long-term.
Re: 22 vs 20 inch bolts
If you find 22 inch arrows or shafts on sale there is no reason not to use them. A longer arrow may help you find it. That`s 2 inches more to stick out of the grass or snow after a shot.
