98 Custom Marker

I just recently bought a 20oz co2 tank, however when screwed in and the gun cocked, I get nothing. Not so much as ball in the barrel. What is the problem?! Gun hasn’t been touched in over 2 years. I also have another 9oz tank which also doesn’t seem to work.

Tippmann 98 Custom Platinum Series Paintball Marker Gun Ultra Basic, Semi-Auto.
Tippman A5 is a good option particularly for beginners or intermediate level players who want a reliable marker that can keep them in the game against even more experienced players and is fun and easy to use. Unlike Spyder`s paintball guns, it uses less Co2 even with the air-powered carousel.
Tippmann 98 Custom E Trigger system (allows full auto 15 Balls per second fire)
Pulling the trigger releases the regulator allowing the air chamber to be filled with CO2. The CO2 then floods the air chamber at such a high rate of speed that it forces the piston behind the paintball forward.
Pulling the trigger releases the hammer which is propelled forward by the main spring, hitting the valve pin and opening the valve which allows compressed gas to flow from the valve chamber into the barrel chamber thus propelling the loaded paintball forward and out of the barrel.
As a true fully automatic pistol the G18 is one of the most specialized GLOCK pistols. With an external fire selector at the rear of the slide you can switch from semi-automatic to full-automatic firing mode.
The Tippmann 98 Custom has undergone many body and internal changes, but has remained almost the same over the years since being released in 1998.
The most serious injuries include eye injuries, ear injuries, and even death. Paintball`s most common minor injuries include cuts, welts, and bruising. Sprained and twisted ankles also occur, and there are reports of players suffering breathing difficulties after being shot in the throat.
Simply unscrew the barrel and run your squeegee or paintball barrel swab through the interior, pulling it through. You`ll want to take several passes and use some sort of cleaner – even water works well for this. One of the most important steps is to make sure that you let the barrel dry thoroughly when you`re done.

How to set velocity on tippnan 98 custom – Tippmann 98 Custom Act Paintball Gun
ANSWER : There is a velocity adjuster on the left side of the body, just below and to the right of the “N” in “TIPPMANN.”

In order to adjust the velocity you need to be in a place where it is safe and legal to fire your marker (paintball field, with all bystanders protected by netting or paintball goggles.) You will need a chronograph and a 3/16-inch hex wrench.

The adjuster is a screw that blocks the gas flow from the valve to the bolt. If you screw it in (clockwise) it blocks more of the gas, so your velocity goes down. If you screw it out (anti-clockwise) it blocks less gas, so the velocity goes up.

Just take a shot over the chronograph to check your velocity, adjust and check again until you get it where you want it. Most paintball fields limit velocity to 285 feet per second. Never go above 300 feet per second, as velocities above that are unsafe (beyond paintball goggle ratings and can cause damage and infection on skin due to the heavy impact.)

It is important to test and adjust the velocity before each day of play, and even multiple times during the day as weather changes, because it is affected by temperature.

I attempted to put a car stock on my Tippmann 98 custom and took apart the gun but the stock didnt fit, now when i put it back together and shot it with my tank connected the gun wont stay cocked and little CO2 is coming out with each shot the sound is very low as opposed to my other Tipmann 98 custom where its loud and stays cocked. What do i do?
ANSWER : Check the O rings on the big metal striker, make sure that you have the spring on the back (where the stock would have went) in the right hole on the back plate. Make sure that your velocity is set to a reasonable level.

Hello, I have an old Tippman A5 (about 5-6 years
ANSWER : You will have to buy a different barrel for the A5, I would suggest ansgear.com, rockstartactical.com, or ebay. Make sure that you get the right threads along with an apex capeable front. I would suggest the sly carbon fibur barrels, or get a autococker barrel and a lapco adapter for your A5. Hope this helps if you have any questions just let me know.

Cannot adjust velocity
ANSWER : Please see below page 8 for picture of what I am talking about.

On page 8 in the middle left side is a picture of the internal vale parts.

When you pull the valve out on the back side is a little o ring that can be taken out using an o ring pick. Make sure to watch the way the parts come out and look for any rust, also broken o rings if the valve is stuck open this will allow the maximum of air to pass. Most of time is this part that is messed up. You can by the valve in one unit this is the best option.

But the first thing is to check the valve and all the parts. Lube it up and re install it.
