Swiss Gear Grand Lodge Cabin Dome Tent

My Poles broke on this Swiss Gear Tent and the manufactures has no replacement parts for this. Does anyone know what i can do. An Earlier Post said:The rain fly on this tent doesn’t drain well because of the horizontal poles along the edge of the roof of the tent. consequently the water pools above these poles and the pressure makes the fly leak. When it is really burdened, it can collapse the tent and bend the poles. I have to get up frequently on rainy nights and push the water off the fly. Otherwise it is an amazing tent

How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

A broken tent pole is a painful, but relatively common camping mishap. Causes range from strong winds to poles weakened by age to cheap materials—and sometimes, it`s just plain old wear and tear.
The easiest and quickest way to fix a broken pole is with a pole repair sleeve. Also called a splint, this short tube is often provided with your tent. If not, buy one and pack it with you. A good pole repair sleeve is just slightly larger in diameter than your pole so that it doesn`t move around too much.
If you want a good all-rounder tent pole material, the best one is aluminum. These types of poles are flexible, durable, cheap, and available in most tent styles.
Split poles are popular for fencing, landscaping, partitioning and a variety of other uses. Split poles are manufactured by ripping (cutting via band-saw) an untreated tapered pole and then treating to SABS H3 Specifications. They should not be planted in the ground in any load bearing or structural application.
Has your tent pole broken? Don`t panic! This isn`t a fault, fibreglass tent poles may well break when put under too much pressure, they`re actually designed that way to try and prevent damaging the rest of your tent. The good news is, fibreglass poles can often be replaced.
Patching Holes in Your Tent

Sharp sticks, stones and errant tree branches can sometimes rip your tent`s fabric. If you carry a patch kit with you while camping or backpacking, you can repair a tear in a tent`s wall, mesh or rainfly while you`re out there. Or you can wait to do it at home.

Pole Tents use ratchet straps that extend to stakes or concrete anchors that are 5-8 feet out from each side pole. Pole Tents must be staked into grass/asphalt or anchored into concrete. Water barrels are not an option on this tent. Lights and fans can be mounted to the center-poles and/or the perimeter-poles.
Basically, there are two main types of tent pole: Bendy ones and rigid ones. Bendy ones are more flexible and usually lighter, rigid ones are generally more robust and heavy-duty.
The most popular tent pole materials are fibreglass and aluminium. Both provide excellent performance, but there are trade-offs for each.
The single pole switch is mainly used to switch lighting on and off: LED lamps, neon lamps, spotlights and light fittings. The double pole switch, on the other hand, is used for household appliances (such as cookers, washing machines, ovens and refrigerators) that have a particularly heavy electrical load.
While a 2 pole MCB is designed for switching action of 1-phase circuit consisting of phase-neutral, the 4 pole MCB is designed for 3-phase systems with higher voltage levels ( approximately 1.7 times the single phase voltage).
Fibreglass: these are non-metallic poles used in dome or tunnel tents providing a flexible yet strong framework.
Fiberglass light poles are competitively priced with an average lifespan of between 15 and 20 years.
The sizes used on most tents are 7.9mm, 8.5mm, 9.5mm, 11.2mm and 12.7mm. There are occasionally sizes below this for very small poles but there are no sizes in between.
2. Fix a broken tent pole. Generally, tent poles are pretty robust, but should you arrive at the campsite to find that one of yours is damaged, find a suitable stick and use your duct tape to attach it to the damaged pole for extra reinforcement.
If you have an anvil available, you can also use that for straightening tent poles. It`s best to flip it back and forth, gently hitting all the high and low spots with a hammer until it becomes straight.
Instant & Fast – Tent pole splint quickly repairs broken tent poles; fits all standard tent poles. Durable – Lightweight design and anodized aluminum construction ensures this fix last for years. Two Sizes – Fits tent poles smaller than 1/2” (12 mm) or 5/8” (16 mm) in diameter.
Pole sleeves seem to make for a sturdier tent as they put a continuous line of stitching across a pole line, reducing the stress at any single point. But, sleeves add some weight, and can be a little trickier to set up (although the sleeves also suggest where the pole goes). These days, a lot of tents use both.
The parts of a tent include the tent body, vents, tent poles, a rainfly, vestibules, bug netting/mesh, groundsheets, tent pegs (stakes), guy lines, tie out points, storage pockets (gear lofts), tent footprints, etc. Each part plays an equally important part in the construction of your tent.
Poles. Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) – also known as fibreglass –is a popular material for tent poles because it is relatively cheap to produce, lightweight and bends easily around the curves of a tent.
The tentpole is a unique structure of the female gametophyte in Ginkgo biloba; however, its exact functions in the reproductive process are unclear. In the present study, we used semi-thin sectioning and electron microscopy to study the structure and function of the tentpole during fertilization in G. biloba.
Freestanding tents function just as their name implies: The tent bodies can hold their shape on their own without needing to be staked out. These designs receive their support from included tent poles and can be picked up and moved around camp without going limp.
a long pole that supports a tent and keeps it upright (= standing up): We stock both lightweight and traditional wooden tent poles.
Fiberglass is not a particularly strong compared to aluminum and this is why you`ll typically only see fiberglass poles in 2 season tents (i.e. summer and fair weather) or some 3 season tents (fair weather or standard rain and wind).

Square tent with 2 types gazebo poles, varenda, 2 side windows
ANSWER : The 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set.
