Some awning manufacturers have tables to look up the awning size by caravan, but the most reliable method is to use the caravan`s A-Measurement which is the universal method of sizing an awning, all full size awnings are sold by A-Measurement Size.
Cut the string where it meets the ground and measure it in centimetres. This will give you your caravan`s A-Measurement which is your caravan full awning size. This measurement will fall into a range of standard awning sizes – i.e. if your A-measurement is 970cm, you would select your awning from the 950-975cm range.
How to Measure Projection of Awning; Measure the height of the window from the edge of the trim on each end. A standard projection (B) would be approximately half the height of your window. For example a window that measures 60″ in height would have an awning that has a 30″ projection.
Length of Caravan FAQs. Does the length of a caravan include the A frame/ drawbar? When measuring the overall caravan length (or travel length), the A frame, plus the rear bar and accessories at the back of the caravan are included.
Depending on your brand of awning, you will use either a large bolt or a screw to attach the awning into the brackets. Attach the hardware through the brackets and over the awning bar to hold it in place. Make sure the hardware you use is tight and that your awning does not wiggle around.
