Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
The 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. http://www.wenzelco.com/details.aspx?NavID=412shows a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set. It is less likely to collapse in high winds.

Q: What is the difference between a canopy and a gazebo? A: A canopy provides a lightweight, portable shade that is quick to set up and can come in a variety of colors and sizes. Gazebos are more permanent structures with metal frames and canvas or vinyl walls that provide greater protection from sun and rain.
A gazebo canopy is a stand-alone structure developed primarily to provide shade and to add elegance or beauty to an outdoor setting. A gazebo is a self-supporting structure, including flooring, sturdy beams, and a solid roof.
12` x 12` is the universal size of a family gazebo, regardless of the country or the outdoor culture. It will comfortably accommodate a family of four and six guests. 14` x 14` for small gatherings or business over dinner. The optimized capacity is 13-15 persons.
For square gazebos, multiply the length by the width. For circular gazebos, multiply the radius by the radius and multiply that product by 3.14 to find the square footage.
Gazebos and cabanas both offer shelter from the sun. Both create a relaxing environment for a day lounging in the sun. Gazebos are open on all sides though. A cabana has fabric, screen or another lightweight material used as walls.
The main difference between a pergola and a gazebo is the function of the roof. A gazebo and a pavilion provide full coverage from the sun, while a pergola allows for sunlight to shine through its slatted roof. Typically, a pergola provides partial shelter and shade over a garden, pathway, or patio.
A pop-up canopy (or portable gazebo or frame tent in some countries) is a shelter that collapses down to a size that is portable. Typically, canopies of this type come in sizes from five feet by five feet to ten feet by twenty feet. Larger or semi-permanent canopies are known as “marquees”.
Gazebos, Pergolas & Canopies.
If you`re working with a smaller space, consider a round, square, hexagonal, or oval-shaped gazebo. That`s true, especially if you want to install the gazebo at the center of your backyard or garden. For a wider space, a rectangular, dodecagonal, octagonal, or decagonal-shaped gazebo will do the trick.
Which is the average gazebo size? Normally, tents start at a size of 1.5×1. 5m and go up to 8x4m. The most common size we are used to see around is the 3x3m.
One of the most popular sized gazebos runs at 3m tall by 3m wide. This size is pretty standard and a versatile size that many opt for, especially when just starting out.
The average price is $7,590. Gazebos are a great addition to any outdoor living space. Expect to pay about $5,365 to $9,025 for a gazebo. The average price of a gazebo is $7,590, but some high-end models with all the bells and whistles can cost as much as $27,000.

Verandas and porches are extremely similar. In fact, verandas are often called wraparound porches, though there`s one major exception: Verandas always have roofs. These large, open-air spaces wrap around a building at ground level. They`re not typically raised or screened in, though they may feature railings.

Structurally, pergolas are much less cluttered and much more elegant in comparison to gazebos. They may have a full or retractable roof if the purpose of a pergola is primarily for shade, but many pergolas offer only partial shade with intermittent beams laid spaciously across the top.
When you`re looking to fit four to six people, a gazebo that`s 120-180 sq ft in size will accommodate you well. This gives you plenty of space for seating, a table, and other entertainment equipment so you can host a day or night to remember.
A pergola is an open structure with wide gaps between the beams, which allows sunlight to filter through. It can provide light shade and is relatively low-maintenance. Pergodas are similar in design to pergolas but have more ornamental or decorative elements such as intricate details on the pillars or roof.
The Berber camp is made up of traditional tents, quite unassuming at first. The exterior is purely functional – the black tents are made out of goat and camel hair, with no floors and held up by sturdy poles. This was so that the nomad Berbers could easily load their tents onto camels and move to the next spot.
Cabana tents are outdoor shelter structures that provide shade for outdoor activities such as sunbathing, picnics, or lounging. Typically, cabana tents are designed with a roof, curtains, and poles, and are usually made from a waterproof material such as canvas or nylon.
