Plug gap 0.8mm, 4 people think this is helpful.
The gap setting is different for each vehicle but most are somewhere between 0.028″ and . 060″. Consult the owner`s manual or Champion ® catalog to find the recommended setting for the vehicle you`re working on.
Spark Plug: 1 – Earthed Electrode. Thread Size: M 14 x 1,25. Electrode Gap [mm]: 0,8.
For W210 (and W124) the recommended gap is . 32 or 0.8mm. A spark plug gauge is needed to accomplish this task. If the plugs meet this specification, you can begin to install each new plug into the cylinder heads without using any anti-seize compound.
Dual ignition provides two advantages: redundancy in the event of in-flight failure of one ignition system; and more efficient burning of the fuel-air mixture within the combustion chamber.
Spark Plug Gap
If the gap is too small, the flame kernel will not grow and will leave the air-fuel mixture unburned, reducing engine performance and gas mileage. On the other hand, if the gap is too large, there won`t be enough electricity provided to create a spark. This will lead to a misfire.
A smaller gap will yield a short, intense spark and will usually make the engine real responsive. A wide gap creates a longer spark arc but without sufficient “juice” from your ignition system, (including amps), it can be weak and yellow in color.
A smaller gap ensures the spark plug fires on each cycle. But if the spark gap is too small, there won`t be enough room for the airfuel mixture between the ground electrode and center electrode. So when the spark plug fires, there`s a possibility that nothing ignites.
These plugs are pre-gapped at . 044″. Do not adjust gap for factory power.
It is a Twin-Spark engine. That means that is has 12 spark plugs for 6 cylinders, 2 in each cylinder. Double spark plugs make for better ignition and give the opportunity to stage ignition timing for a smoother burn.
NGK Spark Plug makes spark plugs from Mercedes-Benz OE available to the Aftermarket.
Notes: G-Power spark plug. Gap 0.032″. Quantity per car: 6.
All spark plug manufacturers cross-reference their plugs with other brands so their brand can be interchanged with other brands. For most applications, there are usually a variety of brands that are interchangeable.
Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity – better than any other type of material used in spark plugs – and also transfers heat faster.
Misfiring due to excessive heat, quenching, increased fuel consumption and even engine failure can occur from the use of incorrect or mismatched spark plugs, so it`s best to replace all of your spark plugs at the same time, and with the correct type of spark plug, to ensure smooth and consistent operation.
As the spark plugs wear, the spark plug gaps widen, also weakening MPG. This is because the wider the spark plug gap, the more voltage is required to arch between the electrodes. The smoother the combustion process, the lower the demand for engine power and the lower the demand for fuel.
In most cases your Iridium Power plugs do not need to be gapped. Even with small variations in the factory set gap the ultra-efficient firing power design will compensate for those small variations.
On the other hand, a larger gap gives a “hotter” or “fatter” spark and more reliable ignition of the fuel-air mixture. In addition, a new plug with sharp edges on the center electrode will spark more reliably than an older, eroded plug.
What is the electrode GAP of the spark plug? The standard distance between the electrodes in the NGK BR9ES spark plug is 0,7 mm and the resistance is 5 KOhm (information from NGK specifications).
If the gap is too great, the engine may not start as easily. If the gap is too small (< 0.30mm), there is the risk that the coil and flywheel might touch as the flywheel heats up and expands when the engine is run.
That thicker wire core provides a lower operating resistance, allowing more spark energy at the spark plug. This thicker core, once wrapped in the insulating material and outer jacket, is what dictates the larger overall spark plug wire diameter.
Spark plug socket 5/8″ (16 mm) with retaining spring and joint, Dr. 3/8″ Size: outer diameter 22mm. Length 93mm. Compatible for Mercedes Benz M112, 113, 137, 155, 166, 271, 272, 273, 275, 902, 906 and X6.
