How do I get all three 3.5 inch post together since there isn’t any flares on the post to slide into each other.

Usually these are manufactured with either a flare on the end as you describe, or the entire length of the pole tapers slightly. If this is not the case, my guess is that you received 3 of the same pole piece, and it was mis-packed at the manufacturer.
