The 9mm and the 0.40 S&W provide nearly identical accuracy, drift and drop, but the 0.40 S&W has an energy advantage. The . 40 S&W was designed such that it could be retrofitted into medium-frame (9mm size) automatic handguns.
For collectors, the model 39 has many variations. Blue steel and nickel plating, 39`s and 39-2`s, alloy and steel frames, pre-model numbers, . 30 Luger versions (500+ made for sale in Italy), and you can dream of someday coming across a SA model or a 52-A. And don`t overlook the 2nd generation models 439, 539 and 639.

A serial number (SN) is a number assigned to each individual product in order to distinguish that product from all others. The serial number is sometimes used only for warranty control and sometimes used for both warranty control and for version control.
Model numbers or names are often stamped or engraved on the barrel or slide, often along with the Make. In some cases, the Model will also be represented as a prefix or other portion of the pistol`s serial number, or may be stamped on the frame in less obvious locations (e.g., under the grip panels).
Serial numbers are often located on the butt, but may also be located on the side of the frame. Some older single action revolvers have a serial number located on the frame just in front of the trigger guard. Some older top-break revolvers have serial numbers located on the top strap, beneath the cylinder.

I have a Winchester Model 190 with serial number B1302781. This model and serial nubmer does not show up on the Windhester site. Can you tell me when this rifle was manufactured?
ANSWER : The model 290 came out first, in 1965. The 190 came out in 1967. The 290 was made until 1973 and production of the 190 ended in 1980. There were approx. 2,150,000 model 190/290 made through the years.Since yours was made before the middle of the production run, and before 1973, I would guess late 60’s to around 1970 or 1971.

Hope this helps.
