From my experience, Shakespeare makes excellent fishing rods and reels. I have been using Shakespeare products for years and still have the first fishing pole I bought for myself (a Shakespeare) about 6-7 years ago. It is still in fine working order; although, I must admit that it has seen better days.
The Shakespeare Company is a subsidiary of Pure Fishing which manufactures fishing equipment.
If you`re looking for the best all-around fishing reel for performance and price, the Okuma Ceymar C-30 won`t disappoint. The Okuma Ceymar C-30 has pretty much everything we look for in a reel. It`s lightweight, well-built, and had useful features, like an oversized bail roller that gives it great line control.
Spinning Reels

The spinning reel takes time a bit of time to master. It`s easy to get line tangled, it`s more difficult to cast since it involves lifting the bale, holding down a loop of line with your index finger, then whipping the attached rod forward.

Unlike a spinning reel, a baitcaster allows you to maintain contact with the lure even when you are letting out the line. If the fish are hungry and striking early, you can detect the strike even while you are letting out the line.
Baitcasting Vs Spinning Reels: What`s The Difference? Baitcasting reel is best for more experienced anglers because it takes more practice to use and can be susceptible to tangles. A spinning reel is much easier to use and is a great choice for beginners or those looking for a versatile reel system.
Shozaburo Shimano establishes Shimano Iron Works. In February 1921, he opened Shimano Iron Works in Higashi Minato in Sakai City when he was 26 years old. On the site of a demolished celluloid factory, he rented a nearly 40-square-meter area.
William Shakespeare founded the organization in 1897. He was the inventor of the first level wind reel. It`s interesting to note he received the patent for his reel in 1896. Shakespeare`s first patent on lures wasn`t received until 1901.
However, a good rule of thumb when it comes to the ideal Instagram Reel length is roughly 7 to 15 seconds. As we mentioned previously, Instagram Reels were created in response to the boom in short-form video content, which predominantly stemmed from TikTok.
Spinning and spin-cast reels can adequately handle some bass fishing techniques (especially light-line presentations), but the durable and dependable baitcasting reel is the ultimate choice for serious anglers when they encounter bass in the rivers and lakes throughout the country.
Learning how to cast a baitcaster isn`t hard; it just takes a little practice. Get simple tips on how to cast with a baitcaster, find out why a baitcaster is better for certain bass fishing techniques, and then get out to try fishing with a baitcasting reel on your own.

Panfish are a conglomerate of different types of fish, including Sunny`s, or Pumkinseed, Crappie`s, and Bluegills. These fish are usually the easiest fish in a pond to catch, and actually are pretty good table fare as well!
Spincast reels are the easiest to learn and simplest to operate of the three primary styles of casting reels. Generally, they are the least expensive. Spincast (spincasting) reels are identifiable by their “closed face.” That is, the spool containing the fishing line is totally enclosed within the reel itself.
Reel lubricants

Because WD-40 is a degreaser, it breaks down grease and oil. Never use it to lubricate a reel. The basic rule of thumb is to grease gears and oil everything else — sparingly. Too much grease and oil impede the spool and reduce casting distance.

Most manufacturers recommend that you re-lubricate your reel on at least a monthly basis – more often with heavy use. At the very least, lubricate everything once during each season you`ll be fishing.
It doesn`t seem far, but go measure it out. Most anglers proficient at casting average 25-30 yards, depending on their tackle and wind conditions.
If the pressure is too light, backlashes are inevitable. If it is too tight, your casting distance will be greatly reduced. Get the correct setting by tying on the lure you intend to fish with and letting it hang a few inches from the rod tip. Hold the rod at about 2 o`clock and push the thumbar to release the spool.
Baitcaster reels come in both freshwater and saltwater varieties. While either one can technically be used for saltwater fishing, you will want to stick with brands and models that are specifically designed for saltwater as these will usually have much better durability and resistance to corrosion.
Also known as a baitcaster, a casting reel is a type of fishing reel that is perfect for anglers targeting large fish in and around heavy cover.
Moderate action rating is ideals for casting lures because it sacrifices sensitivity for improved casting distance.
Casting rods are designed for baitcast and spincast reels whereas spinning rods are matched with spinning reels. Let`s take a look at the differences between the two types and how to determine which one you should choose for your style of fishing.
If you`re fishing with a monofilament line, the line can stretch and cause the gearbox to overheat. This can cause your baitcaster to scream because the gearbox is working too hard and producing too much noise. To minimize this noise, make sure to use a light line when casting a baitcaster.
Tension. The spool tension knob controls how easily your spool spins. Avoiding backlash largely depends on ensuring your spool and your line spin at the same rate, controlled via the spool tension knob. Backlash occurs when the spool spins faster than the line coming through the guide.
