Read the first two digits in the identification tag to find the year the engine was made. This will be a letter. If the letter is a “B,” it means that the engine was built in the 1950s. Each decade after that has its own succeeding letter; “C” designates the 1960s, “D” designates the 1970s, and so on.
The Lincoln`s 302 H.O. engine and AOD transmission along with the 8-inch Ford rearend were installed into the F-1`s chassis.
For 1948-51 Fords the VIN plate is located on the glove box door, clutch housing or on the left side of the frame near the steering gear mounting bracket. The information on the rating plate is the VIN number.
For 1952 Ford the VIN plate is attached to the rear face of the driver`s door. The information on the rating plate is the VIN number. The VIN number identifies the series, model year, assembly plant and production sequence.
Your VIN number is your vehicle identification number and you can find your engine size by VIN number. In the series of numbers and letters, the tenth from the left denotes the model year and the eighth is the engine codes. Just tell the store clerk those two characters and you`re in business.
Ford entered Formula One for the first time in 1967 with the now legendary DFV engine. The engine was a partnership with Cosworth Racing and was unveiled in April 1967.
Popularly called the “Shoebox Ford” for its slab-sided, “ponton” design, the 1949 Ford is credited both with saving Ford and ushering in modern streamlined car design with changes such as integrated fenders and more.
Digits in position 4 through 9 make up the Vehicle Description Section (VDS). The fourth through eighth digits describe your vehicle`s model, body type, restraint system, transmission type, and engine code. The ninth digit is the check digit, which is used to detect fraudulent VINs.
The Ford VIN number (Vehicle Identification Number) is a one-of-a-kind 17-digit code. It allows you to identify any Ford truck or passenger car. By design, it can tell every Ford car owner a lot of valuable information, such as detailed specifications and the vehicle history.
Although there is no specific international or universal standard for engine numbers, they typically range from 11 to 17 digits and often have a code that will be unique to each manufacturer. This enables each manufacturer to identify each individual engine and when it was manufactured.
If it is a numbers matching vehicle, then the information the engine stamp gives you should match the engine that the VIN indicates originally came in the car. Something to keep in mind here is if the vehicle was manufactured before the 1960`s, you will not find a VIN plate on the engine.
The engine serial number is on a metal plate attached to the block, typically found on the left-hand side of the engine. The position of the engine plate varies across different engine series. You can find the position of your plate using the table below.
The engine number is found on the body of the car`s engine. Car manufacturers ensure that the number is clearly visible. It is imprinted on a metal sticker and placed in such a way that it is easy to see when you open the hood.
Engine serial numbers are specific numbers assigned to every individual engine. No engine that exists has the same serial number as another engine. If you know your engine serial number, you can find out the exact parts your engine was built with when it was first made.
Before that, F1 would be dominated by one of the most iconic engines of all time – the Cosworth DFV. Since its first season in 1967, the hugely recognisable sound of the DFV would accompany 12 drivers` championship wins and ten constructors` titles until 1982.

The first generation of the Ford F-Series (also known as the Ford Bonus-Built trucks) is a series of trucks that was produced by Ford from the 1948 to the 1952 model years. The introduction of the F-Series marked the divergence of Ford car and truck design, developing a chassis intended specifically for truck use.

However, it was the popularity of the 1949 Ford models that began to sell extremely well within the automotive industry. The most popular Ford model of that year was the custom Tudor sedan which was a nicely styled family car priced at $ 1,590 dollars.
The club coupe cost $1,415 while the sedan cost $1,470. The base series consisted of two-door and four-door sedans as well as a two-door and a four-door sedan.
Since the VIN Standard has been in use for over 30 years one should consider the 7th digit to determine the vehicles model year. If the 7th digit is numeric the model year is between 1981 and 2009. If it is an alpha character it is MY2010 or later.
Production numbers (positions 12-17)

The final six digits are the production sequence numbers, which each car receives on the assembly line.

The eighth digit shows the car`s engine size and is usually represented by a letter. This is really helpful if you`re buying spare parts for your car, as is it ensures that you can find a spare that`s the exact match for the engine type.
The third number or letter is used by the vehicle manufacturer to identify what kind of vehicle it is: car, truck, bus, etc. The 10th character of the VIN indicates the model year.

My daughter has a sweet pea scooter that had been blowing fuses and the motor got hot. Im sure the motor is shot. but my question is can anyone tell me if the motor would be the only thing I need to c
ANSWER : Find out whether it is 6 volts or 12 volts and there should be two wires that feed the motor either cut or splice and attach another set of wires with fuse in the line (simular to jumper cables) raise the back tire so it does not touch the ground and place jump wires to the negative and positive of the battery. If the motor moves in either direction without blowing the fuse the motor is good if not then its bad. Uses the same amperage fuse

I have a York Stellar model mid efficiency furnace Model # P?UCD12N07601A, Serial # EXAM3600524 installed in 1992. The HSI was replaced approximately 3 months ago. Over the last two weeks the ventor motor comes on, the HSI lights but does not ignite the gas. The ventor motor runns continously and the HSI continues to turn off and on without gas ignition. Some times by turning the ventor motor off and on (by opening and closing the bottom furnace faces panel door) will give be ignition after the HSI goes through 1-4 cycles. If I can’t get it to work I call my furnace repair guy. The serviceman thought it was the pressure switch and ordered one. Just this last weekend I had no heat and another service guy came in replaced the HSI again and adjusted the pressure switch and said this fix should work. Less than a day later furnace still experiencing the same problem-Ventor motor comes on, HSI comes on but no gas ignition. ventor motor runs continuously and the temperature in the house drops! I’m frustrated and the servicemen don’t seem to know how to fix the problem for good.
ANSWER : Make sure the vent pipes that exhaust the fumes are not blocked in any way and also check the drain line to be sure it is not kinked from the vent motor to the trap. Take the hoses off the vent motor and the pressure switch and make sure all the hoses are clean and free from debris also check the trap on the drain hose and make sure it has water in it if it doesn’t this will creat a negative pressure in the vent motor housing not allowing the vent pressure switch to make.

TC5000 and after extended use I smell burning and upon removing the belt cover and drive belt I felt of the motor on the motor side of the drive pulley and it was ”red-hot”, obviously the source of the smell of the burning. The motor spins freely without any rubbing noise. The drive pulley (motor side) and the tread pulley appear to be alligned. One curious thing is that the threaded motor output shaft is recessed about 3/8” from the outside edge of the pulley. Could it be the bearing on the pulley side of the motor? I am dumbfounded as to what the solution might be. Note that I could not enter the exact product as my model seemed to be invalid. My model is the TC5000. Thanks [email protected]
ANSWER : Just because it spins freely doesnt mean it cant have a shorted winding. Id send it back where it came from or at least replace the motor.

I have a 1997 motor guide wireless 24volt Big Water trolling motor. hooked it up to the batteries and put in a new 9volt battery in the foot pedal. the lights come on on top of the motor head and the foot pedal beeps, but the prop doesnt turn or spin (like there is no power to the bottom of the motor) any suggestions to what the problem is or how to fix it? (just bought the motor from a lady who’s husband died. dont have any manuals)
ANSWER : Hello there, as you said the power does not get to the bottom of the motor. The motor could be faulty or just completely bad. First you have to determine that the motor is good until you can determine this it is quite impossible to determine if there can be any fix. Take out the motor and try to power it on its own if it works fine then the problem is not from the motor but most likely the problem is from the motor. Let me know what your findings are. Hoping to hear from you soon.
Thank you for visiting FixYa.

I have a 1991 Yamaha 250 outboard motor. I can connect the harness from the control box to the motor harness, put the motor in nuetral, and the motor will turn over but it will not start. I can disconnect the conrol box from the motor, jump it direct from the battery, and it will start. What might be the problem? I even bought a new control box but still have the same problem.

Thank you,
Dean Youngstrand

ANSWER : I would check for power coming off of the ignition switch. The ignition switch is what sends power to the control box to the coil. You can also check for power on your coil. But I would bet that it is your ignition switch.
