Bogging is caused when too much fuel is delivered from the carburetor to the motor. When this happens, less air gets pushed through, and the engine struggles to come to full power. It may feel like you are plowing water, or like the jet ski is failing to get enough speed to come up above water`s surface.
Possible causes could relate to electrical issues like problems with the spark plugs, fuses, battery, wires and connections. Also, the gas could be stale or contaminated, or the fuel line may be clogged. Finally, a faulty starter could also be why you can`t start your Sea-Doo.
A dead battery is the most common reason for a jet ski not starting. Even if you have a new battery or you`re sure the battery is charged, a dead battery is the most common problem that occurs at the start of every summer season.
Limp Mode is a security feature on Sea-Doos that restricts engine rpm but allows you to still ride the ski in case of a malfunction. In most cases, Limp Mode is caused by the engine or exhaust overheating, low engine oil, low battery voltage, or other types of electrical or battery malfunctions.
A Jet Ski or a Sea-Doo are brand names of PWC, and the average person puts around 30 hours a year on their machine. A low-hour ski is a machine that has been used for less than 50 hours, while 150 hours or more of use is considered high.
This is because a poorly maintained and serviced engine and other parts wear out much sooner. Every owner`s manual strictly outlines required service intervals. Beyond regular service, jet skis need to be winterized in most cases. Additionally, every owner should carefully check their skis before and after rides!
The compression, bearings and a good once over needs to be done on the engine to make sure it`s not blown. A severely neglected engine can blow, and an engine that was treated right can blow too, but a blown engine will cause a jet ski to not reach its top speed, or even not run at all.
Speed sensors, the MAF, MPS and TPS; to name just a few of the essential monitors within your engine. All of these send signals to the control units, so as with faulty wiring, if one of these monitoring units is not functioning correctly, then it could send a message that causes the car to enter limp mode.
Limp mode is meant to give your car just enough power to drive home (or to the nearest repair shop) without causing severe damage to the engine or transmission. You can bypass limp mode by restarting your car, topping off fluids, or resetting the battery.
One of the most common we hear: Can you leave Sea-Doo SWITCH pontoons docked in the water for an extended period of time? The best practice is to remove your SWITCH from the water after each use – either kept on a trailer or a boat lift when not in use.
The distance of how far a Sea-Doo personal watercraft (PWC) can go on a tank of gas varies widely depending on its fuel consumption, tank capacity, riding speed and weather conditions. Generally speaking, the average PWC can go around 60-120 miles on a tank of gas, and the average PWC uses 3-4 gallons of gas per hour.
Jet skis can go pretty fast, usually 40 mph to 70 mph, depending on how calm the water is, the amount of wind resistance, and the weight of the passengers.

Kawasaki STX-15F is the cheapest Jet Ski, and one of the most reliable as well! It`s powered with a four-stroke, 1498 cc, non-supercharged engine, which offers around 160 HP. You can expect 60-62 mph top speed on this ski while reaching 0-30 mph in just 2 seconds!

Rotating the personal watercraft (PWC) in the wrong direction can allow water to enter the engine compartment. This would be bad for the engine and safe operation of the personal watercraft (PWC).
You can start a WaveRunner out of the water without any damage, but the manufacturer recommends that you don`t run the engine over 4,000 rpm! If you can`t attach a hose to the flushing port, you can run a WaveRunner for only 15 seconds, but by supplying water, it can be run much longer.

One of the issues you may experience while jet skiing is overheating of the engine. This can be dangerous as it can damage the motor and could leave you stranded in the middle of the water without help. Jet skis can overheat for a variety of reasons: Cooling lines or impeller system are damaged.
By just having fun riding a jet ski for about an hour, you`ll burn up to 400 calories. It helps improve your overall cardiovascular endurance. The best part of it is that it doesn`t matter if you`re riding a jet ski for the first time or if you`re already a pro – you`ll get your cardio workout done.
Modern jet skis are very stable, you can stand on one side without flipping the jet ski over. Extra passengers may increase the risk of tipping over or falling off, but ultimately safe control rests with the driver.
You`ll note signs right away like poor starts, fluctuating meter readings, and dimmed headlights. around 13 volts, the bike will start to drain the battery. When this happens, it`s only a matter of time before the engine stops completely.
Flush and drain exhaust system

It`s important to get any contaminants out of your Sea-Doo exhaust system, especially if you typically ride in a saltwater environment (then flushing is strongly recommended after every ride).

Jump Starting May Damage the Jet Ski`s Electronics

As in the case of cars and motorcycles, newer jet skis arrive with more and more electronic parts. If you jump start your jet ski, you risk damaging these parts, as boosting the battery can overload the system.

Whenever you choose to leave your PWC in the water, it is at risk for damage from inclement weather, color fading and pests. However, if you are only leaving your PWC in the water for a day or so, it will probably be safe from more severe threats, like rust, corrosion and buildup.

I have a 2001 Yamaha XL700Z Waverunner. The compression on both cylinders is about 120, it starts and runs fine – dry. Won’t quite idle, but I can start it and rev it up fine (for a short period, of course). However, as soon as it gets in the water, it will barely run – it will start and sputter and you cannot get it to run more than a few seconds or rev up. Take it back out, let it dry, starts & revs fine. It is not getting any water in the casing that I can tell, its almost as if water is getting something wet through the cooling system that I cannot see?

I continually get code 90 (low/NO flow) from my 8111. I have disassembled, cleaned EVERYTHING, including the inlet port AT the pump (remind everybody to check this as stuff gets past the filter basket and will plug the pump inlet).

There is No air in the system and I get superb pressure at the outlet, yet I still get code 90. I again removed the flow sensor and put my ohm meter across the flow sensor terminals and activated the flapper and measured an open circuit. I used a heavier magnet to see if I could get make the internals of the sensor move to get an ohm reading, but I get nothing but an open circuit, ie: no measured resistance.

Can I simply bypass the defective flow sensor to trick the 8111 to think it has full flow without damaging the ‘brain’ of the system.?

Intex corp is useless at these questions. They have been out of stock on this sensor for months and are telling me “two weeks” for two months and now it’s “end of August” which I do not believe. Meanwhile I am making no chlorine while the 90 code is showing.

I love the 8111, this is the first problem I’ve had with it, and I’m frustrated that I can not get such an important part from them.

I have a 1987 mercury 9.9 outboard drive problems
ANSWER : The inside of the prop has a rubber between the prop itself and the inside splines to act as a shock absorber,say if you were to hit a rock. that rubber had spun out and the splines are turning inside the prop. the prop is screwed. seen it 100 times before.

JD 212 starts right up, runs fine at an idle through mid throttle, but acts as if it is running under very heavy load if you try to speed it up to full throttle, and it will die if throttle is not reduced. There is plenty of fuel getting to the carb.
ANSWER : Hi, try it with the air filter removed and replace it if necessary. Also, does it completely die if you don’t reduce the throttle or does it die down and rev up again on its own ? Regards Phil.

Mule 610 will not start. Was running fine, plowing snow and it starting acting like it was running out of gas and stalled. Put gas in put it won’t start and acts like it is not getting gas. Could the gas line have frozen due to the depth of the snow?

Yamaha waverunner My 800xl will run, but will not get up to speed. When you first give it throttle it will take off fine, at first, then its as though some sensor holds it back. It begins idling rough if not shut off. Let it site for a minute and it will restart and do the same thing. Or it will let you idle back to short. But get into throttle and it bogs down. I’m thinking some sensor has identified a problem and holding it back to keep it from, I don’t know “Burning up”.
Any One have any idea’s. On tight bugget but still want to play.

ANSWER : Well if you have no money to fix it then no use figuring out what is wrong. Sorry but repairs take money, I am sure this is at least a $200-$400 USD repair job. Check your fuel pressure first.
