action, which loads, fires and ejects ammunition. barrel, a metal tube that the projectile passes through. stock, that supports the action and in many cases, the barrel.
Bolt Action

Bolt-action shotguns are not all that common, but they work just like bolt-action rifles. The bolt is a rod attached to a spring, and there`s a handle sticking out of it. To load a bolt-action, the shooter twists the bolt handle up and then pulls it back.

Burgess` shotguns were manufactured and sold from 1894 until 1899 by the Burgess Gun Company in Buffalo, New York.
The smaller the gauge number, the larger the shotgun bore. Gauge is determined by the number of lead balls of size equal to the approximate diameter of the bore that it takes to weigh one pound. For example, it would take 12 lead balls with the same diameter as a 12-gauge shotgun bore to weigh one pound.
Gas-operated shotguns use the expanding gasses from the previously shot shell to complete the cycling of the action. When the trigger is slapped the expanding gasses push the shot down the barrel. As the gasses travel down the barrel behind the shot, they pass over ports.
A shotgun start is a golf tournament format in which all groups of players tee off simultaneously from different holes. A shotgun is shot into the air to signal the start of the tournament. Each hole on a course will be the tee off hole for each foursome. Group 1 would start from hole 1, Group 2 from hole 2, etc.
The Barrel is the part of the shotgun that protrudes from the gun. This is the tube the pellets travel down as they leave the gun. Other parts of a shotgun include the receiver, breech bolt, ejection port, muzzle, magazine cap, trigger guard, and safety mechanism.
When the striking force applied to the ejector rod is hard and fast enough, the extractor will typically eject the empty case(s) from the cylinder. Some break-action shotguns are also designed to eject empty shells completely out of the chamber when the barrel is opened.
The lever-action firearm has a large metal lever located behind the trigger. This handle usually forms the trigger guard as well. To open the action, push the lever downward and forward, which extracts the cartridge case from the chamber and ejects it.
The 1887 Winchester was the first successful repeating shotgun. John Browning suggested that a pump shotgun be made instead of a lever action but Winchester affirmed that they were a lever action company.
In 1887, John Moses Browning invented a shotgun design that changed the shotgun`s history forever.
To control the shot string, shotgun barrels have a choke, which will affect the shot pattern when the shot string hits the target.
The Benelli M4 is the proven king of combat shotguns. This gas-operated, semi-auto shotgun was evaluated by the Marine Corps in 1999 and joined the ranks shortly after. The fast-firing design makes follow-up shots quick and effective, making it a terrifyingly effective close-quarter`s weapon.
Because gas-operated shotguns use hot gasses to unload and reload the gun, those same gasses cause carbon buildup and powder residue that must be removed more often than shotguns with inertia-operated systems. Inertia systems also have fewer parts, which translates into fewer parts to clean.
Pump-action shotguns are so popular because they can eat every load a shotgun can shoot and do so reliably. This includes less-lethal loads, breaching loads, birdshot, buckshot, slugs, and even Dragon`s breath flame-throwing rounds.
The origin of this phrase takes place in the Old West, although no one actually called it “shotgun” back then. Carriage drivers would often bring along someone to sit next to them and carry a weapon, usually a shotgun. These co-pilots acted as bodyguards and warded off any robbers or miscreants who got in their way.
Pump action (sometimes called slide action): the shotgun`s forend or another handle is retracted by the shooter`s support hand, which opens the breech, ejects a spent cartridge, and when returning the forend to its forward position, chambers a fresh shell from the magazine.
There are five types of firearm actions. Bolt action, lever action, hinge action, pump action and semi-automatic action.
An automatic shotgun is an automatic firearm that fires shotgun shells (thereby making it a shotgun) and uses some of the energy of each shot to automatically cycle the action and load a new round. It will fire repeatedly until the trigger is released or ammunition runs out.

Need the wire diagram to rewire my Ariens lawnmover to bypass the safety switch. It is Ariens GT-19 model # 931026 Serial # 001463.
Can you help? It is an old Ariens mower but still runs good but now I need to bypass the safety switch in order to run it any longer. The local Ariens dealer said I need to go through the internet and get the wire diagram as they cannot give it to me directly. They told me I needed the wire diagram and the part involved in bypassing the safety switch. Hope this is all the information you need to help me.

Thank you. Roger Fielitz

ANSWER : Here is owner manual:http://apache.ariens.com/manuals/030305C.pdfusually the switch is behind the ignition, sometimes at the N position of gearshift, just look for a switch with one wire coming in & one going out (usually the same color); disconnect the two wires & jumper them together to bypass the switch. Looks like yours has one under the seat.
