10′ X 10′ Sundome Tent 9160K101

We have a ripped outwell tent how can we repair it? The tent is an old blue indiana 4 outwell tent which is very tricky to put up- my other half has managed to rip it when putting the pins into the bottom of the poles. What are we doing wrong? We follow the instructions but there just does not seem to be enough ‘give’ in the poles to do this.

However, since the polyester tents produced by Outwell last on average between 8 to 16 years, we can say that these tents tend to have a slightly better lifespan than other tents, which is likely why they are pricier.
If you aren`t able to pull the material together, you`ll need to use repair tape. Cover the damaged area with the tape, ensuring it about 1.5 inches longer and wider than the tear. Liberally apply seam sealer around the edges. If you happen to have spare patches of tent fabric, then you can use these to fix the holes.
Canvas tents Last For A Long Time

Canvas tents can last a very long time and is made from thick, durable cotton that is heavy but ideal for car camping in winter camping due to its insulation properties. It`s also very UV resistant compared to most manufactured materials.

Exposure to the elements: Over time, the effects of wind and rain can weaken the fabric of your tent. This can reduce water resistance and compromise stitching or tensile strength, resulting in rips or tears. Ultraviolet (UV) light: Long-term exposure to the sun`s rays can damage a tent by degrading the fabric.
With the average tent being the equivalent of 8,750 plastic straws, it`s always worth repairing your tent when possible. And it`s cheaper. A decent quality tent should last for years if you look after it, and that doesn`t mean it has to be an expensive branded tent either.
Tents can be difficult to recycle because they`re made up of so many different types of material: composite fabric, plastics and metal. However, they should be able to be recycled at your local recycling point, especially if they are taken apart.
Ideal for repairs to tents, awnings tent windows, inflatable products including tents, toys, airbeds, self inflating mattresses, waterproof clothing, wellingtons, boots and shoes, car hoods, bicycle tyres, sleeping bags, horse rugs, umbrellas, sails, bags, paddling pools, water sports, fishing & hunting gear.
Stick patch to back of damaged canvas. For this you can use acid-free glue/gel medium/acrylic matte medium. Wait for a couple of minutes. Hold patch in place so it bonds with your canvas – but don`t let it dry completely.
At-Home Mesh Repair

Tear-Aid patches can be a very effective repair for mesh tears. We recommend reinforcing two patches on each side of the mesh and letting it cure overnight before packing the tent back in its stuff sack.

AmazonBasics Dome Camping Tent

AmazonBasics is one of the best camping tent brands in India that is highly loved by experienced and beginner campers for enjoying a comfortable stay. It offers a water-resistant, dome-shaped camping tent that can easily be set up at the beachside, mountains, or in your backyard.

Unless you`re a hardcore camper or backpacker, you probably won`t spend more than 10 nights in a tent during any given year. That being the case, the average tent will last roughly 15 years. If you only camp 5 nights during the year, then the tent may be able to take care of you for 30 years, when properly maintained.
What Is A Sufficient Hydrostatic Value For A Tent? Typically, most tents come with a hydrostatic head value of 3000mm, and that would be a good gauge of what is enough to withstand rainfall in the UK. To be able to call a material water-resistant, it requires a minimum hydrostatic head value of 1000mm.
Most tents are designed to withstand a certain amount of wind, however speeds over 30 mph can cause damage. Remember to take rain ponchos and lots of plastic bags.
The most important thing to keep your tent dry in the rain is waterproofing it. While most tents are water-resistant, they probably aren`t waterproof. So, you should prepare for heavy downpours by preparing your tent with a waterproof spray like Nikwax`s Tent & Gear spray.
Most tents, when not using stakes, are made to withstand winds up to 20 miles per hour. If stakes are used, then this capability increases to 40 miles per hour. The majority of tents manufactured are not meant to withstand wind gusts over 50 miles per hour.
Put a Tarp Over Your Entire Tent!

These things are very strong and waterproof and will add a huge amount of protection to your tent. Depending on the strength of the poles in your tent, you may need to add extra steel tent poles to the tarp arrangement so as not to place too much pressure on the poles.

Usually the signs will be obvious—you may find burn holes or rips. You can patch holes that are less than an inch in diameter, but buy a new tent if any holes are larger than that. Check the seams for signs of stretching—another sign that a tent purchase is looming.
As a result, most tents on the market today – especially family ones – are made from polyester. Lightweight tents are often made of nylon. This man-made textile is normally coated to make it more durable to both abrasion and UV, with coatings such as acrylic, polyurethane (PU) or silicone.
Clear silicone adhesives are a good choice for both types of screens. Make sure to use a glue that dries clear rather than amber or white since that will make the repair visible. Press down any lifted or unraveled bits of screen and brush the glue over both sides of the damaged area.

If the tear is a clean tear, with an even tear line, then you can sew the netting. If the tear has jagged edges or looks uneven, then gluing may be a better option. For holes, a netting patch is necessary to repair the netting.
Contrary to popular belief, a cracked screen isn`t the end for your smartphone. Broken phones can be repaired — and it can be cheaper to fix your cracked screen than to get a new one.
Generally, tent canvas is made from a variety of nylon (polyamide) types or polyester. We recommend the McNett Seam Grip repair sealer in the case of a polyurethane (PU) coating. With this adhesive, glued-on patches usually hold, and the repaired areas continue to withstand heavy loads.
