The main cable is off the track if the large pulley. We don’t know how to get inside to get it back on the track. Both right and left sides are off track. We have both the user and assembly manuals and they are of no help. Can we take off the tension knobs? My husband owns an auto mechanic shop so he has lots of tools and expertise. Can you please help? The machine is used, but nothing appears to be broken or missing.

Thanks so much.

I had same problem. I fixed it by taking plastic sides off using a long phillips head screwdriver. Jay, you don’t have to take the sides off to fix your problem. The sides come off only to untangle and rewind cables on pulleys. Pull the cables all the way out. Have a helper pull out and keep holding out the tension knob This is shown at the bottom of page nine in the manual. With someone holding the tension knob out turn the large pully located beneith the tension knob CLOCKWISE! I screwed mine up by turning it counter-clockwise. This winds the handle to the top and if you start with all the cable pulled off the pully, the cable should then wind itself nicely back onto the pully. Once the handle is all the way up, with the round ball on the cable jammed up against the pully, then and only then let go of the tension knob and let it fall back into place. If the handle falls down a few inches repeat this proceedure but push lower pully a bit harder and try to turn tension knob, while it is pulled out, in the opposite direction and it will then click into place one notch tighter and should hold the black ball on the cable firmly against the pulley. Let me know if this was helpful.

How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

The driven pulley is adjustable and the drive pulley is controlled by a mechanical action that will open or close the pulley based on rpm requirement. As the driven pulley is opened, the driven pulley will decrease in speed and the opposite, as the drive pulley is closed the driven pulley will increase in speed.
To test if the tension is correct, insert a bobbin in the bobbin case. Then hold it up by just the thread, the bobbin case shouldn`t move. Give a little jerk on the thread and if the bobbin case slides down slightly, then the tension if perfect. If it drops freely, then it`s too loose.
What Is the Tension Setting? The tension setting is a ring setting that uses compression to hold a center diamond or gemstone in place. This makes the stone appear as if it`s floating between two pieces of metal or within the band itself.
Correct thread tension

The upper thread and the bobbin thread should cross near the center of the fabric. Only the upper thread should be visible from the right side of the fabric, and only the bobbin thread should be visible from the wrong side of the fabric.

Bobbin– holds the thread inside the machine.
Tension is the force transmitted through a rope or cable in a pulley system. It is the force that is used to lift or move the object in the system. The tension in the rope is equal to the force applied to the rope, and it is transmitted through the rope to the object being lifted or moved.
Ideal Pulley

Pulley: A pulley serves to change the direction of a tension force, and may also (in the case of multiple-pulley systems) change its magnitude.

Misalignment consists of three types: Vertical angularity (twist), horizontal angularity, and axial offset, all of which can coexist in any combination. The best way to correct offset misalignment is by moving the pulley axially on its shaft, or by moving the adjustable machine (usually the motor) axially.
The most common cause of this alignment is worn bearings, which could either be in idler pulleys or components driven by the belt. The worn bearings can cause the pulley to be cocked to one side. The second most common cause is a worn tensioner.
To speed up a driven pulley (and achieve less torque) it should be smaller than the drive pulley. To slow down a driven pulley (and achieve more torque) it should be larger than the drive pulley.
A single movable pulley consists of two pulleys one of which is fixed and the other one is movable. The movable one is free to move up and down and carries the load. The mechanical advantage of a movable pulley is 2 (in an ideal case), which in real sense means that the pulley requires only half the effort to move it.
What is Tension Control? Tension control is the process of maintaining a predetermined or set amount of stress or strain on a given material between two points to maintain its desired properties (such as form, appearance, etc) and quality.
Tension formula is articulated as. T=mg+ma. Where, T= tension (N or kg-m/s2) g = acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s2)
To determine the magnitude of tension, use the equation 2T sin(α) = m × g where m × g represents the weight of the suspended object.
Step 2: Since the pulley is light and frictionless, therefore, the tension in the string shall be the same on the both sides of the pulley as shown in the above figure.
If the bobbin case doesn`t budge, your bobbin tension is too tight. To tighten your bobbin tension, turn the tiny screw on the bobbin case a smidgen clockwise. To loosen bobbin tension, turn the screw counterclockwise. A quarter turn or less is a good place to start.
Take-up Lever – Part of the upper threading sequence, it helps control the flow of thread. It`s the part that goes “up and down” as you sew.
Hand wheel controls the movement of the take up lever and needle; can be controlled by power or by hand; should ALWAYS be turned toward you.
The bobbin-spring screw regulates bobbin-thread tension, whether your bobbin is a separate, drop-in unit (left) or is built into the machine (right). As with the tension dials, the amount of pressure will be increased when thicker threads are run under the bobbin spring.
Thicker thread should require more tension to avoid puckering lightweight fabrics, but this is often just what you need to avoid issues. A heavier thread in the top and bottom will increase both tensions, and you`ll probably need to set a lighter tension to accommodate heavyweight fabrics.
You`ve probably noticed the tension regulator on your sewing machine. It`s usually a dial with the numbers 3, 4, and 5 highlighted or circled. This regulator tightens, or loosens, the tension discs that the thread passes down through before it goes up and through the looper.
11. Bobbin winder—Holds the bobbin while the thread is wound from the spool onto the bobbin.

TC5000 and after extended use I smell burning and upon removing the belt cover and drive belt I felt of the motor on the motor side of the drive pulley and it was ”red-hot”, obviously the source of the smell of the burning. The motor spins freely without any rubbing noise. The drive pulley (motor side) and the tread pulley appear to be alligned. One curious thing is that the threaded motor output shaft is recessed about 3/8” from the outside edge of the pulley. Could it be the bearing on the pulley side of the motor? I am dumbfounded as to what the solution might be. Note that I could not enter the exact product as my model seemed to be invalid. My model is the TC5000. Thanks [email protected]
ANSWER : Just because it spins freely doesnt mean it cant have a shorted winding. Id send it back where it came from or at least replace the motor.

I bought a Nordic Track Walk Fit manual treadmill at a garage sale. It is missing the belt that goes around the ‘pulley wheel’ at the side. I thought it would be a matter of going to the Nordic Track website, but nothing comes up on their site when I enter the Walk Fit name. Where can I get a belt for this machine? The model number has been torn off but the date it was made was January 1995.

My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.
ANSWER : I’ve had the same experiance. On my fifth one as well. Fail every year. No idea why.
