If you cock the gun back and put it on safety, does it still shoot? – Quora. If you cock the gun back and put it on safety, does it still shoot? A firearm in proper working order that has been cocked and then has had the safety put on should not be capable of firing until the safety has been switched off.
The trigger safety is designed to prevent the pistol from firing if it`s dropped or if the trigger is subjected to any pressure that isn`t a direct firing pull.
Cocked and locked (Condition One) means there is a live round in the chamber, a fully loaded magazine and a cocked hammer, with the manual thumb safety locked into the safe (up) position. A cocked and locked single-action automatic pistol is preferred by many (defensive and recreational) shooters.
With a single-action pistol, if the gun`s not cocked, pulling the trigger actually does nothing. You have to manually pull the hammer back, and then pulling the trigger will release it. Cocking the hammer rotates the cylinder. This action brings a new round into alignment with the barrel.
Your firearm should have a safety that locks the firearm from being able to fire. When the safety is on you cannot see the red dot. When the safety is taken off there is a red dot, which means the firearm is now ready to fire. Once a firearm`s red dot is exposed it should be handled with even more care.
Double-action only (DAO) pistols, which usually use designs similar to traditional double-action but without the ability to remain cocked, do not usually have external safeties.
Some states, such as California, require some form of “drop safety” on all new firearms. Firing Pin Block. This safety blocks the firing pin from moving forward. Linked to the trigger mechanism, it prevents the firing pin from hitting a cartridge unless the trigger is pressed.
Safety: A mechanism on an action to prevent firing of the gun.
Conventional wisdom is that a cocked and locked 1911 – in other words a 1911 pistol that has been loaded, cocked and the manual safety engaged – is the best way to carry that particular gun. In fact, it`s one of the safest ways to carry one or indeed, any gun that has one.
Any gun when cocked is in single-action mode (fireable with minimal effort). If it has an external hammer, it can be decocked (uncocked), either through a decocker lever, or manually (safety hazard).
Soldiers began tilting the weapons, so that the recoil sent the gun reeling in a horizontal rather than vertical arc, enabling them to spray bullets into an onrushing enemy battalion instead of over their heads.
Typically, service pistols are revolvers or semi-automatic pistols issued to officers, non-commissioned officers, and rear-echelon support personnel for self-defense, though service pistols may also be issued to special forces as a backup for their primary weapons.
Not all handguns have a mechanical safety. On a handgun with a safety, the safety will be located around the receiver and is usually easy to spot. The orange outlines indicate where safeties may be located on semi-automatic pistols.
Even though the Glock does not have an external manual safety, it incorporates three internal safeties intended to prevent the gun from discharging if dropped or jostled. A unique feature of the Glock is that a shooter disengages all three safeties at once by pulling the trigger.
The GLOCK safety lock is located conveniently in the back of the pistol grip. When engaged it prevents firing and disassembling of the GLOCK pistol. The Safety Lock developed by GLOCK is the first safety cylinder lock for pistols worldwide.
The primary advantage of guns without manual safeties is their simplicity. You draw, pull the trigger and the gun will fire without the need to operate a safety. Under duress, something as simple as releasing a manual safety can escape your mind.
Every GLOCK pistol comes with 3 independent safeties: Trigger safety. Firing pin safety. Drop safety.
The firing pin strikes the primer, causing it to explode. The spark from the primer ignites the gunpowder. Gas converted from the burning powder rapidly expands in the cartridge. The expanding gas forces the bullet out of the cartridge and down the barrel with great speed.
The Firing Pin Block

The truth is back in the “Old West,” it was very possible to make a gun negligently discharge by simply dropping or jostling it. However, today, this is much less likely to happen, thanks to a safety feature known as a firing pin block.

Gun safes may include additional security features such as fire or water protection, combination lock, digital lock, and fingerprint identification. Electronic locks as well as mechanical locks are available on many models of safes.
3. A safe, gun safe, gun case, lock box, or other device that is designed to be or can be used to store a firearm and that is designed to be unlocked only by means of a key, a combination, or other similar means.
A safety is a device that blocks the action to prevent the firearm from shooting until the safety is released or pushed to the off position. The safety is intended to prevent the firearm from being fired accidentally.
Recoil is merely the reaction of the gun to an expression of energy created in the barrel and expelled from the muzzle. When the trigger is pulled, the hammer housed within the receiver of the gun depresses the firing pin with ample force to pop the primer on the end of the round.
Perhaps the single most famous aspect of the 1911 is its trigger. Unlike other concealed carry pistols with hinged triggers, the 1911`s trigger slides straight back, making for a crisp, clean break and reset when the gun is fired.

I just bought a new tippmann 98 custom act platinum edition and it doesnt seem to be firing right. i upgrades the rear bolt and trigger and after a few shots the bolt lock in the firing position. if i pull the trigger forward there is a click and then it will fire, but imediatly lock up again
ANSWER : I would look in to the bolt and check that it moves freely, also check that is properly lubed, and finally that your upgrade bolt does not need a different spring. I would also check the batteries on the grip if it is an E-trigger.

Thank you. Roger Fielitz

ANSWER : Here is owner manual:http://apache.ariens.com/manuals/030305C.pdfusually the switch is behind the ignition, sometimes at the N position of gearshift, just look for a switch with one wire coming in & one going out (usually the same color); disconnect the two wires & jumper them together to bypass the switch.
