A style of tent that has a dome-like shape (this can be square, rectangular, or irregular). Most modern camping tents are dome tents. These tents are comprised of a fabric enclosure. Key points of the enclosure are clipped to lightweight aluminum poles, forming the tent`s curved structure.
Dome-style tents offer superior strength and wind-shedding abilities, both of which you`ll appreciate on a stormy night. They stand tall in the center, but their walls have more of a slope which slightly reduces livable space.
Dome tents

On the other hand, the dome construction makes for a more taut tent which is more stable in the wind without the canvas fluttering and beating. Dome tents often also have a good ceiling height and several entrances, making them suited for use as a base camp.

Dimensions: 19.52 x 9.84 ft (234 in x 118 in; 595 x 300 cm).
Make sure the tent is waterproof and seam sealed. Dome tents are shaped with wind in mind, and are incredibly weather resistant. They`re also light weight, so get the right size, that way you won`t carry more weight than you need to.
Dome style tents are more aerodynamic and will handle winds better than traditional cabin style tents. Tents higher in the centre with sloping walls, and a low profile will handle winds better.
The short answer is `YES`. The dome`s natural structure allows for constant airflow, requiring 30% less energy to circulate air, maintaining moderate air temperatures. We provide several options to transform your dome into a cozy refuge in the harshest winter climates.
Dome tents – The most common tent you can find

Their capacity can range from a single person to up to a whopping 8-person capacity all while being lightweight. The downside? Their lighter weight makes them more likely to be blown away or flattened, and tend to catch wind.

(1) Ideal for sleeping lots of people and gear. (2) Good for storing gear. (3) Excellent Headspace. Description: Dome tents are one of the most popular tent styles for a wide range of pursuits.
Generally, a 6-Person tent can sleep four adults plus a generous amount of camping gear. Of course, you may be able to sleep more than four people in your tent if you have small children who will share sleeping pads and/or sleeping bags.
Six-Person Tent

Two adults and two kids plus gear have more than enough room. It`s also spacious for four adults and their gear, but anything beyond that would be a tight fit.

As a general rule, a family of 4 will need at least a 6 person tent. A family of 5 will likely need an 8P tent and a 6-person family will need a 10P tent. However, these guidelines aren`t always accurate. Some very large tents will actually only sleep four people comfortably, especially if you are using air mattresses.
Camping in the rain isn`t top of many people`s agenda, but in my opinion, some of my best nights sleeping outside in a tent have been camping in the rain. The sound of raindrops bouncing off your flysheet and the comfort of a warm, dry sleeping bag after a long day on the misty trail is a personal favorite.
Something unbeknownst to most people is that one can easily cause leakage by simply touching the inner walls of a tent on a rainy day. This is because when one touches the inner walls, the water droplets that gather lose their surface tension which causes them to seep through the tent fabric.
Quick answer: Three-season tents are usually only about 5 degrees F warmer inside than outside. Winter tents are better designed to trap heat and are typically 10-15 degrees warmer inside. Insulated or expedition tents can be over 25F warmer inside.
Dome tents are also ideal if you are backpacking, as they are more compact than hybrid or cabin tents. If you have a larger family or will be camping for an extended period, a cabin tent may be preferred. Cabin tents have a larger living space and almost vertical walls for a more open feeling in your tent.
Simply apply the tent proofing product or waterproofing spray evenly to the tent fabric using a spray, brush or sponge. Take care to wipe off any surplus product with a damp cloth as you go along. Leave your tent to dry as per the instructions on the bottle.
However, almost all tents can be grouped into 1 of 4 categories based on their shape. Here are the 4 different types of tents: A-Frame tents, Pyramid tents, Hoop tents, and Dome tents.
White is the coolest canopy in color because it`s a great reflector of the sun. So, if you`re concerned about the heat during the summer, design a canopy that`s primarily white but with your logo and any other artwork on the valences.
The “greenhouse effect” means tents trap warm air during the day. The sun can pass through your tent fabric and heat up the air inside, but the warm air can`t get out again. As a result, your tent gets warmer and warmer throughout the day, retaining that heat long into the night.
Vulnerability of the Air Form

The airform is a delicate membrane which can easily become damaged by falling trees and vandalism. Once it is damaged, water could seep into the underlying insulation and become a big matted sponge. Steps could be taken to protect the airform with aluminum, but this can be expensive.

They are self-supporting, stabilised by the force of gravity acting on their weight to hold them in compression. They are able to span large areas and require no intermediary columns, creating a free space below.
When it comes to sun protection, darker colors are your best bet. Darker colors like blue can block UV radiation and keep your tent cooler. On the other hand, lighter colors like white and yellow reflect light but don`t block UV rays, so they offer the least protection.
Look for natural windbreaks: a stand of trees or a hill between you and the prevailing breeze. Avoid camping near damaged trees or limbs that can be blown down by a severe gust.

ANSWER : The 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. http://www.wenzelco.com/details.aspx?NavID=412shows a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set. It is less likely to collapse in high winds.
