I have a powermate 1850 generator that is leaking motor oil through the generator. is there an online repair manual for replacing the seal? the generators age is unknown, it has never been used until now.

ANSWER : The only thing i can think of is that you might want to take the carb off and really clean it good where it bolts down and around the entire area if thats where its leaking from. Hope i was of some help to you.

ANSWER : Not a pro with rhinos but sounds like you got oil from crank case. like if you have a seal broken, hope not but my car had same problem and I had a cracked gasket. good luck. you can check the oil to see if it looks milky

How do i drain and fill oil on my 2008 yfz 450 quad?

I have a Kohler Condidant 5 Generator that will run as long as you hold the start button in. It dies when you let off. I have a harness for the remote switch but no switch – It also will start the generator when you cross the red and black wire and run as long as you hold them together. There are 3 wires to the main switch and 5 to the remote switch. Does the starter stay engaged the whole time you hold the start switch or does the computer release the starter once it is running? The Generator is producing electricity because I tested it while holding the start button. Some where is a wire that shold tell it to keep running. I have read online many descriptions of the same problem, most are told the board is bad so they replace it and still have the problem. Have not found a solution. Talked to a marine machanic today and he said he fixed his friends generator doing the same thing by running a bypass wire but he couldnt remember exactly what he did it was a long time ago. Can anyone help me. Thank you
ANSWER : The problem is either the ballast resistor or the starter bypass relay. The bypass relay should be part of the starter solenoid. I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly where the ballast resistor is located. It should be a physically fairly large resistor made of ceramic. It should be retangular roughly 1.5″-3″ long and 3/8″-1/2″ accross with a wire on each end. It could also be a coil of wire mounted on a phenolic board.

ANSWER : You should use 10W-30 for temps above -4F, or 5W-30 for 30F and BELOW. Remove the dip stick and fill it up with oil, up to the threads where the dipstick inserts.

Does the John Deere series 100 lawn tractor have some sort of safety feature that shuts the engine off if it gets dangerously low on oil? I was cutting grass this morning and the engine sputtered and quit. I got off the tractor and noticed that the oil drain line plug was open and dripping oil. ANSWER : Not sure on this specific mower, but oil is usually there to lubricate and keep the temp down. When theres none in it, it gets hot and melts the pistons. Sounds bad to me

ANSWER : Sometimes the generator loses the magnetic field that allows it to produce power. Do a Google search on “flashing a generator field”. There are many ways to do it, but I would recommend doing some reading before trying it. Your “dead” generator could produce hazardous voltage once it comes back to life.Also, before trying any of this, make sure the circuit breakers on the generator (if equipped) are not tripped.Good luck and be careful!
