Use only Coleman Stove and Lantern Fuel, or clean white gasoline. Never use fuel containing lead compounds or lubricating oils.

Flat wick lamps and lanterns are designed to burn brightest with kerosene fuel, but clear lamp oil works just fine too. A popular lamp oil choice is K-1 kerosene, which is affordable and readily available from filling stations or in prepackaged containers. Sulfur and other impurities make kerosene smell.

A kerosene lamp (also known as a paraffin lamp in some countries) is a type of lighting device that uses kerosene as a fuel. Kerosene lamps have a wick or mantle as light source, protected by a glass chimney or globe; lamps may be used on a table, or hand-held lanterns may be used for portable lighting.
Pour in 1/4 of a tank or so of “HEET” (brand) or other alcohol based automotive fuel line cleaner. DO NOT use drug store alcohol because it contains water. Swirl the HEET around inside your stove/lantern and let it sit for 20 minutes, then empty the cleaner from your stove/lantern.
The date code is stamped on the underside of the lantern. A Coleman logo sticker is affixed to the front of the lantern base.

Modern yard and driveway gas lamps typically use between 1,000 and 10,000 BTUs per hour, based on continuous operation. Indoor lamps typically use a little less. However, with such a wide variety of designs available, you may find models that exceed these ranges.
Coleman fuel is a petroleum naphtha product marketed by The Coleman Company. Historically called white gas (not white spirit), it is a liquid petroleum fuel (100% light hydrotreated distillate) usually sold in one gallon cans. It is used primarily for fueling lanterns and camp stoves.

Use kerosene or standard lamp oil to fill up most lanterns.

In most cases, this is kerosene or standard lamp oil. Always buy a clear, clean-burning oil (the label should say this clearly) for your lamp. Other oils release toxic fumes as they burn, and you definitely want to avoid breathing those in.

Diesel and Aviation fuel should not be used in any wick lamp or lantern as the fumes from fuel additives can be FATAL if inhaled. THE MINIMUM RECOMMENDED FLASH POINT FOR KEROSENE FOR USE IN OIL LAMPS AND LANTERNS IS 124 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.
Coleman fuel and unleaded gasoline burn at 7,500 BTU and will boil water in under 4 1/2 minutes. One tank will burn 1 hour and 20 minutes on high or 7 hours on simmer. Kerosene does not quite burn as hot at 6,500 BTUs but will burn for 2 hours and 25 minutes on high or 9 hours on simmer.

NEVER USE gasoline, Coleman fuel, white gas, paint thinner, wood alcohol, diesel, naphtha, turpentine, or any other explosive fuel in a wick lamp or lantern of any type. NEVER USE aviation fuels in any wick lamp or lantern, as the fumes from de-icing additives can be fatal if inhaled.
The most used type of oil is paraffin. This is a very efficient way to light up an oil lantern. However, other oils can be used. It is however important that you confirm the oil you are using is actually safe.
Take apart your propane camping stove by unscrewing the burners. Hand-wash the burners, the cooktop, and the case with warm, soapy water. Let all of the stove parts dry upside down. Then, when everything is absolutely dry and there is no water left, put the stove back together again.
It produces 54 lumens of effective, efficient light and lasts up to 175 hours on 4 D batteries (sold separately).
Clean glass and remove debris at least twice per year. Removing debris will enhance the air flow around the burner and improve its performance. Clean the open flame burner tip at least twice per year. Run a piece of fine dental floss or use a wire brush to remove any debris or soot that`s settled in the burner tip.
The age is the last three digits of the serial number. The first digit is the year and the second and third digits are the month.
They will last 7 to 8 hours. Don`t over fill them trying to get more hours out of them. They will stink, or give off fumes.

I have a 1996 yamaha wave venture 1100….ran greatsat for 2 yrs..started but only ran for spray into carbs….drained fuel started and ran good. Started about month later and would only run as long as primed with starter fluids…checked fuel filter(ok)…fuel flow to fuel pump ok…output of fuel pump appears ok….but engine will only run as long as starter fluid/gas is sprayed into carbs. I don’t think it’s the carbs as it ran great a month ago…now it’s starving for gas flow….so it appears to be a fuel delivery problem…what would be the sequence of tests up to tearing into the carbs? is there a fuel filter inside the carbs? remember it fires off great when primed…until the fuel spray is consumed…

2005 4 stroke yamaha 150 550hrs. normally use every week but due to surgery not used for 10weeks. Just before I went down I changed internal fuel filter, and zincs in motor. finally put in sunday. motor started fine left dock hit the power and started to come up on plane then stuttered and died. changed the external fuel/water seperator pump up the primer and started up again. with in a minute died down again. limped back to dock checked fuel filter and plug wire connections. pumped up primer and left dock went right onto plane for maybe 150yds then coughed and died. I could pump up primer and it would run but then die out. the fuel filter at the front of the engine would run dry until I pumped it up again. If it were a car I would suspect a leak in a fuel line but I can’t find any sign of one.
before we launched I put 10 gallons of fresh fuel in and added another bottle of ethanol stabilizer (CRC brand)
what proceedure should I follow to isolate the problem? I am a fairly competent mechanic as far as cars and trucks go. I don’t really want to have to take it to a marine mechanic.
ANSWER : This is going to be the fuel pump is not pumping any fuel. The primer is acting as a fuel pump. When you prime it, it gives the engine enough fuel to run for a little bit. But as soon as the fuel runs out, the engine is dying. So this is going to be a bad fuel pump.

Need the wire diagram to rewire my Ariens lawnmover to bypass the safety switch. It is Ariens GT-19 model # 931026 Serial # 001463.
Can you help? It is an old Ariens mower but still runs good but now I need to bypass the safety switch in order to run it any longer. The local Ariens dealer said I need to go through the internet and get the wire diagram as they cannot give it to me directly. They told me I needed the wire diagram and the part involved in bypassing the safety switch. Hope this is all the information you need to help me.

ANSWER : Here is owner manual:http://apache.ariens.com/manuals/030305C.pdfusually the switch is behind the ignition, sometimes at the N position of gearshift, just look for a switch with one wire coming in & one going out (usually the same color); disconnect the two wires & jumper them together to bypass the switch. Looks like yours has one under the seat.
