Check your tape measure, the smallest number of mm you can see will be the size above what you need (e.g. if you can see 9mm, but not 8mm – your pole will be 8.5mm diameter). Poles. Glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) – also known as fibreglass –is a popular material for tent poles because it is relatively cheap to produce, lightweight and bends easily around the curves of a tent.

If you get a slight bend, not by design, this won`t affect the overall performance of the tent so resist the urge to bend it back into shape. Bending poles back stresses the metal further and causes damage. Always push and never pull a tent pole into or out of your tent sleeve.
In fact, most people who try it PREFER floorless tents in wet ground to a floored tent. With a floorless tent you can simply walk in with muddy boots and not worry about tracking mud or water inside. With a conventional floored tent once muck and water get inside it is trapped and very difficult to remove.
