Clips and magazines are both used for loading a gun, but they serve different purposes. A clip holds cartridges together to make them easier to load into the magazine. You can also use a clip to load a cylinder. The magazine feeds rounds into the firearm`s chamber during shooting.
Generally, the magazine capacity is limited to between two and ten rounds, as it can permit the magazine to be flush with the bottom of the rifle, reduce the weight, or prevent mud and dirt from entering. A number of bolt-actions have a tube magazine, such as along the length of the barrel.

The Mossberg Patriot`s removable magazine well also serves as a bedding chassis for the receiver, and beneath this chassis are two transverse channels filled with epoxy to strengthen the stock.
A clip is a small device that usually holds no more than 10 rounds that is used to load a larger magazine. Magazines can carry up to 100 or more rounds, just like the pages in a magazine publication.
300 Winchester delivers about 30.5 foot-pounds of recoil. A same-weight . 30-06 dishes out roughly 22 foot-pounds.
Magazine & Reloading
This rifle holds 5 rounds with the action being loaded from the top.
30/06 was certified for an extreme reach of 4.75 miles, an effective firing range of 1,000 yards. A flip up rear leaf sight was graduated for ranges out to 2,850 yards. Point-blank range for a standing, man-sized target was 500 yards. Whether the military rifles were accurate enough to take advantage of this is moot.
The action is the heart of your rifle and includes the moving parts that load, fire and eject the bullets. A bolt action rifle uses a bolt that acts as the door to your rifle and a lock for your breech. The action on many of the new rifles will often have rails to mount a scope.

30 rounds is the standard capacity for intermediate cartridges like the 5.56x45mm used in the M16 family or the 7.62x39mm used in the AK familt of rifles. In both cases, the size, weight and engineering of the magazine allow it to reliably feed 30 rounds under field conditions.
30 rounds means you have to reload 3 times less while doing conventional shooting.
To put it bluntly, there are no clips in firearms. Magazines hold ammunition until it is fed into the firearms chamber. Clips assist in loading ammunition into the firearms magazine. There are three common types of clips: stripper clips, en bloc clips and moon clips.
Most 9mm handguns feature magazines that range from 12 to 15 rounds, although some pistols have insane capacity (the Glock drum magazine comes to mind).
Some weapons designed for stripper clip use include the Mannlicher M1894, Mauser C96, Roth–Steyr M1907, Lee-Enfield, Mosin-Nagant, Gewehr 98, M1903 Springfield, SKS, and Vz.
Modern pistols and rifles almost all use detachable magazines. You need to fill the magazine by hand with ammunition, which is where a clip can come in handy, before the magazine loads it into the gun.
When using quality magazines with quality ammunition, stored and maintained properly, you can leave them loaded as long as you want to without any reservation.
The . 30-06 remains one of the most popular sporting cartridges in the world. Many hunting loads have over 3,000 foot-pounds (4,100 J) of energy at the muzzle and use expanding bullets that can deliver rapid energy transfer to targets.

rifles and carbines please read this notice. In July of 1990 the following product safety
warning was issued by Winchester. It has come to our attention that the firing pin in the
Winchester Model 100 Rifle or Carbine may break due to use and metal fatigue and become
lodged in the breech bolt face. If this occurs, the firearm may fire before the action is
locked causing severe damage to the firearm and possibly injury or death to the shooter
and bystander.
WARNING DO NOT SHOOT YOUR WINCHESTER MODEL 100 RIFLE OR CARBINE. Repair and replacement.
A new firing pin has been designed to replace the firing pin originally made for the
Winchester Model 100 Rifle and Carbine. The new firing pins will be available in April

The difference in the old firing pin and the new one is as follows. The old replaced
style, was totally lathe tuned (round). While the new recall style is similar in lathe
turning on the front and back, but in the front midsection it has two flats milled, one
on each side. This makes the center section stronger. Also replaced is the bolt sleeve
lock pin (firing pin guide) which was made to accommodate this different shaped firing
pin
Part number for the new parts are, firing pin =1391ND, bolt sleeve locking pin =1491ND
The word was at the time this recall was in process was that if the firing pin would
break at the mid section and still remain in the gun as two pieces, the possibility of a
premature discharge before the bolt was locked was possible. This apparently was caused
by the firing pin tip (now not having a retracting spring) to be stuck forward, and
thereby slam-firing upon chambering.
The responsibility for the recall apparently was on Olin, as they were the parent company
at time of manufacture. Olin set up regional recall centers at three established US
gunshops. There was a manufacturing delay in the replacement firing pins, and a backlog
occurred, also some collectors did not like the idea of shipping their guns long
distances. Olin then also authorized other gunshops to make the required alterations.
Upon completion of the recall, the shops were to test fire the firearm and to stamp an
assigned letter on the inside top of the receiver as seen thru the magazine well with the
bolt retracted. The letter “B” represented Bolsa Gunsmithing, “L” was Lefever, and “N”
was for Nu-line Guns. The letter “X” apparently was for all the other independent shops.
However this identification information did not get communicated to some of the smaller
shops at the start of the project. The only way to tell if the gun as been modified, if
the ”letter” is not present, is to take the barrel & action out of the stock, remove the
trigger guard assembly and the try to rotate the firing pin by twisting it. If it does
NOT rotate, then the firing pin recall HAS been performed.

Hi i was wondering if i could get an estimated value of this winchester rifle. it is an 1886 model 33 cal rifle serial number 139297 and was a special order gun made in 1906. according to the Winchester museum in Wyoming there was only 3 made. Any help would be great thanks.
