Though many campers will orient a tent with the smaller side facing the wind for reduced resistance, it`s more important to place the side that has the strongest pole structure facing the wind. If you`re camping in a hot climate, orient a door toward the wind for cooling.
Even though dome tents look difficult to set up alone, they are actually one of the easiest tents to assemble by yourself! If you have a newer dome tent, it is simpler than ever to put one together. However, a lost instruction manual can mean the difference between an easy task and a much more difficult one.
A variety of dome tents are used. They are light-weight (3–8kg) and accommodate 2–4 people.
One person can easily put up an instant tent depending on its size and design. If the tent is a 6- to 10-person tent, it can be harder to set up and install the rainfly. However, if the design of the tent is simple enough, one person can probably still manage it.
Make sure the tent is waterproof and seam sealed. Dome tents are shaped with wind in mind, and are incredibly weather resistant. They`re also light weight, so get the right size, that way you won`t carry more weight than you need to.
Dome style tents are more aerodynamic and will handle winds better than traditional cabin style tents. Tents higher in the centre with sloping walls, and a low profile will handle winds better.

Dome tents are generally designed to be more compact and lightweight, so they often have lower ceilings than cabin-style tents. However, some dome tents may provide enough headroom for a person to stand up in, especially if they are designed to be more spacious.
It will be a difficult experience, especially if you`re used to having a bed, temperature regulation, and convenient access to food, water, and other necessities. However, when done properly, it can be an extremely rewarding experience that will change your outlook on life.
While 2 man tents are designed to fit up to 2 people, they can get rather snug, especially when adding all your camping gear and luggage. These sized tents are better suited for solo campers to give you the comfort and space you need.
Well, the outer wall of a tent protects it from the air, water, and other elements by using extra-durable material. On the other hand, the inner layer is more breathable, allows better ventilation inside the tent, and prevents the build-up of condensation.
Dome tents – The most common tent you can find
Their capacity can range from a single person to up to a whopping 8-person capacity all while being lightweight. The downside? Their lighter weight makes them more likely to be blown away or flattened, and tend to catch wind.
Simply apply the tent proofing product or waterproofing spray evenly to the tent fabric using a spray, brush or sponge. Take care to wipe off any surplus product with a damp cloth as you go along. Leave your tent to dry as per the instructions on the bottle.

A tent alone will not keep you warm even if it is designed for 4 season use or a geodesic dome tent. They aren`t exactly well insulated with just 1 or 2 thin layers of material. Tents will however protect you from wind and rain which is just as good if you have a sleeping bag to keep you warm.
Geodesic or Semi-Geodesic Tents
The overlapping tent construction creates a very stable structure. They are almost always freestanding. Geodesic tents are also usually a round shape as this allows rain, wind, and snow to go over the tent.

ANSWER : The 2 longest of the poles go in an x over the center of the tent and the 2 shorter ones go arch to the sides. http://www.wenzelco.com/details.aspx?NavID=412shows a picture very similar to your tent. If you go to image 2 it shows it with out the fly. now if you got 2 sets of 4 poles, 2 long and 2 short, and one set is all aluminum, then I would go with the aluminum set. It is less likely to collapse in high winds.

I need new poles for Swiss Gear tent # SG33071F
ANSWER : Go to Home depot and buy a tube that fit the pole. Cut it into 5 or 6 inches for the broken areas. It costs me less than 2 dollars. Let me know how it turn out on yours.

How to stabalize four tent poles in an open area.
ANSWER : If you get four sturdy poles (not normal tent poles) then the best thing to do is to stake the four poles into the ground at a 60 degree angle with the top away from the tent and then use the tension created by the angle to support the tarp.
