In basketball, a four-point play is the rare occasion when an offensive player shoots and makes a three-point field goal while simultaneously being fouled by a defensive player, resulting in a shooting foul and one free throw attempt, or a two-point field goal and is intentionally or flagrantly fouled on the shot and …
A basketball game starts at the centre of the court when the ball is thrown high up by the referee and one player from each team competing to gain possession. The team that catches the ball, or in possession, is called the offensive team while the team not on the ball is the defensive team.
Have one person climb the ladder and place one end on the tape measure at the front tip of the rim so it is even with the TOP side of the rim. Drop the tape measure straight down to the playing surface to check the distance. The tape measure should read 10 feet for regulation basketball, typically ages 11 and older.
Sand is more expensive and more difficult to put in the base, but it will not evaporate like water. Water is significantly easier and cheaper than filling with sand. Water can freeze and if you live in a cold region, the water may possibly crack your base.
Section I—A Player Shall Not: Touch the ball or the basket ring when the ball is sitting or rolling on the ring and using the basket ring as its lower base or hang on the rim while the ball is passing through.

Is 20 points a lot in basketball? Someone who scores at least 20 points per game is almost certainly a positive offensive performer. But if they aren`t efficient, they`re probably not in the upper bounds of positive territory.
Sand is a reliable material to fill your base because it doesn`t leak or evaporate. It`ll remain within the base and provide excellent weight to anchor your basketball System. If you have opted to use water to fill the base, be sure to keep a careful eye on the water level.
WATER. Adding water to the base is as simple as hooking a hose to the base hole. This is a cheaper and easier option than sand. If you plan on moving the hoop around a lot, water is a good choice since you can easily empty it from the base.
While concrete offers a satisfying basketball bounce, the surface has very little give and can be harsh on players` legs and ankles. Concrete surfaces also pose an increased risk for concussion. Asphalt can tear up basketball shoes, skin and the basketball itself.
The center (C)—also known as the five, the pivot or the big man—usually plays near the baseline or close to the basket (the “low post”). They are usually the tallest players on the floor.
The key in basketball is an area of the court that extends from the free throw line, or foul line, to the baseline, or endline. The baseline is the boundary line that runs along the edge of the basketball court, behind the backboard of the hoop, and determines when a ball is out of bounds.

The O3 rule states that an offensive player cannot be in the lane for more than three seconds while his team has control of the ball.
Your intended playing surface will play a large role in determining where you install your goal. The surface should be hard, level, and free of bumps, holes, or other tripping hazards. For these reasons (among others), grass as a playing surface should be avoided at all costs.
Typical basketball rims are manufactured using high tensile carbon steel. The basketball hoop or ring (the part the ball goes through) is made from 5/8″ diameter solid steel rod. This rod is formed into a ring that measures 18″ across the inside.
