Backed by an ultra powerful Cross Carbon Drag to yank fish out of the thick stuff, the Shimano Bantam MGL A Casting Reel raises the bar for power fishing reels.
Bantam was finally developed and was released in the U.S. in 1978 and in Japan in 1979. It was highly acclaimed in both markets. The spool rotation and gear precision were enhanced to a level equivalent to that of precision devices, and the frame strength was also dramatically improved.
Shimano Bantam 10XSG Baitcasting Fishing Reel Made In Japan.
The baitcasting reel dates from at least the mid-17th century, but came into wide use by amateur anglers during the 1870s.
The product was so named by combining BB, an abbreviation of Barasan Brake, with High Power X, Shimano`s rod structure at that time. Subsequently, the TWIN POWER BB-X rod was also released. In 1990, the combination of a reel and a rod was marketed based on the unconventional and innovative white design.
As the first step, Shimano started to manufacture reels. In 1971, it released the DUX spinning reel by harnessing technologies refined in the manufacture of bicycle components, such as gears and body structures. The market expectations were high because this was Shimano`s first spinning reel.
Shozaburo Shimano establishes Shimano Iron Works. In February 1921, he opened Shimano Iron Works in Higashi Minato in Sakai City when he was 26 years old. On the site of a demolished celluloid factory, he rented a nearly 40-square-meter area.
(株式会社シマノ, Kabushiki-gaisha Shimano), originally Shimano Iron Works (島野鐵工所) and later Shimano Industries, Inc. (島野工業株式会社), is a Japanese multinational manufacturing company for cycling components, fishing tackle and rowing equipment, who also produced golf supplies until 2005 and snowboarding gear until 2008.
Contrary to common belief, Shimano reels are not made in the USA but in Japan. Here, at the company`s headquarters in the city of Sakai, all of Shimano`s high-end, premium reels are manufactured and shipped out to the world.
Benefits of the Baitcaster

Afford better line control than spinning reels, allowing for more accurate casts. Allow you to slow down the lure so it softly falls into the water without spooking nearby fish, important when flipping baits into cover.

Spinning reels can`t achieve the distance baitcasters can because the line friction coming off the stationary spool takes some inertia off of the lure. Spinning reels are a lot more susceptible to wind knots, especially with lighter braids.
Baitcasting Vs Spinning Reels: What`s The Difference? Baitcasting reel is best for more experienced anglers because it takes more practice to use and can be susceptible to tangles. A spinning reel is much easier to use and is a great choice for beginners or those looking for a versatile reel system.
C. “Compact body” which means that everything except spool is one size smaller, or more compact. E.g “C3000” reel will have a “2500” body but a “3000” spool.
Reels will have the HG, PG or XG labeled on them, or H, L. Different brands have different labeling, but they`ll most likely have similar or identical definitions. H or HG means high gear. L or PG means Low or Power gear.
The thing that makes this reel different is that “DC” stands for “digitally controlled.” It has an internal microcomputer that adjusts your brakes as necessary every 1/1000 of a second to customize your casting.
The medium 7.4:1 gear ratio Curado DC 200 (CUDC200HG) is a versatile workhorse reel that is an excellent choice for any relatively slow presentation, like fishing a crankbait in cold water, slow-rolling a spinnerbait, or grinding a squarebill against rocks and stumps.

If you are reading this, you probably already know that buying Japanese fishing tackle from Japan is significantly cheaper than buying it in America, Oceania, or Europe.
Shimano Yamaguchi Co., Ltd. (present Shimonoseki Factory) is established in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
Most of the cost is R&D, tooling, and branding. Shimano wants you in their higher end stuff to promote their brand. Once Shimano has machining set up the cost for them to produce one versus the other is the same. And they may have some innovation that the new is actually cheaper to produce.

Penn Spin Reel will not lock after casting
ANSWER : On the front of the spool there is a device to turn to set the drag. Torn it tighter and tighten it until slightly below the breaking point of your fishing line. It isn’t a critical adjustment, it just keeps your line from breaking while trying to land a fish.
