Instead of trying to figure out which sized trolling motor prop is compatible with your motor, you can focus on selecting a prop that matches your needs. Additionally, all props use the same MotorGuide Prop Nut Kit.

The propeller choice directly affects the engine RPM and therefore its performance. Choose a propeller that puts the engine RPM at the midpoint or higher of the wide open throttle (WOT) range with a normal load. This operating range will translate to the highest horsepower available from your outboard.
Choosing the wrong prop or continuing to use a damaged prop can decrease boat performance, increase fuel consumption, and potentially damage your engine and transmission.
It is important to understand that the larger the propeller, the greater the engine torque required to spin that propeller at the speed necessary to generate the thrust required to sustain the forward motion of our aircraft.
These dimensions describe the propeller, usually in inches, and are always stated as diameter x pitch. For example, a propeller described as 14.5 x 19 has a diameter of 14.5 inches and a pitch of 19 inches. These dimensions are often stamped or cast right on the propeller.

If it is lead acid battery, you can draw 50% of total energy stored. So you may be able to draw 10 Ah, and the motor will run for 2 hours. If it is Li ion battery, you can go to 20% DOD maximum. The motor will run for 3 hours.
The proper propeller size for your boat and engine combination is based in part on the wide open throttle (WOT) operating range for your particular engine. You can find this in your operator`s manual, expressed in terms of a certain horsepower at a certain r.p.m.
As a rule, a stainless-steel prop of the same pitch and diameter will make your boat go faster — up to 2 to 3 knots, on some boats — than an aluminum prop. Stainless steel is stronger and can be made thinner, which allows more speed. Stainless steel also flexes less and keeps its shape at higher speeds.
Too small a propeller will produce very low torque, poor thrust and low speed at the stated RPM. The engine`s hp cannot get transmitted into the water and the propeller becomes an “egg beater”.
A bow mounted trolling motor must be mounted at the proper angle in order for it to deploy and stow correctly. Correct Deployment Angle: When deployed the shaft must be positioned as close to a 90 degree angle as possible.
The trolling motor should be placed as close to the center of the stern as possible without interfering with the operation of the main motor, if there is one. The top of the mounting bracket should be flush with the top of the stern.
Change Your Propeller

If you are running an aluminum prop, changing to even a basic stainless steel prop will usually improve top speed.

Propeller engineers determine the prop diameter based on the RPM at which the prop will be turning and the amount of power delivered to the prop. Diameter usually increases for propellers used on slower and heavier boats, and decreases for propellers intended for faster boats.
Overpitched and oversized propellers can cause an engine to work harder and hotter than it should and not allow it to reach optimal cruising rpm, resulting in poor performance and decreased engine life.
If you`re changing pitch on a recreational boat, remember that each inch of pitch is worth about 200 rpm.
If you have an aluminum prop, you should inspect for excessive metal loss (more than 10% of the blade area), extended cracks, blades that are too thin, or cavitation burns. If your prop has any of these issues, bite the bullet.
A 4-blade prop can provide a competitive edge for boats requiring maximum speed and acceleration. The increased surface area and grip can help to deliver more power to the water, resulting in faster speeds and quicker acceleration.

I have the Intex Sand/Pump pool filter Model SF 20110. It’s been running real great for the last 4 months. However recently it has been tripping the internal overloads and I have found the pump motor to be very hot when I put my hand against it. I have tried several different solutions, such as a level ground platform that was clear of any obstructions, made sure that the motor vents under the motor was clear of anything that would prevent air flow. I used a non electrical type of lubricate on the impeller. When I would turn on the pump the rotor would not turn but only would hum very loudly and then slowly begin to turn. I also noticed that the motor’s rotor shaft would not turn to freely due the tightness around the rotor’s shaft. After using the lubricate the shaft would turn a little easier. I used an amp meter on the incoming voltage line and the motor would run at 4.5 amp. And yet it still overheated and tripped the motor overloads. I can only think that the motor is still not getting enough ventilation. I have check and cleared all the incoming lines and found nothing block the pumps input or output lines. Any suggestion?
ANSWER : I just looking into this issue my self. The pump cools itself by a internal fan, which is run by the motor. Well I took the housing cover off to find out all the fan blades have broken off and were setting in the base of the pump. Once you remove the fan blades from covering the air intake, it might be fine. I will find out my self once summer gets here.

I have purchased three 750-watt power inverters in the last three weeks. They have all failed to work on the second or third use. The first two were the same brand. I replaced an old one that ran for several years. I am using it to run a 4.7 amp 120-volt vacuum cleaner motor that pumps up my air dock. I have it connected directly with marine cable to one of the boat batteries. The battery outputs about 12.8 volts DC. The fuses don?t blow, just No Output. I am using a three-wire 120-volt extension cord and am, wired neutral, hot and ground to the AC motor vial an on/off switch. The motor works fine when I run house power with an extension cord from the dock next to me. Could I be, just unlucky with new inverters and need to buy a forth one?
ANSWER : The problem may be that the inverter is undersized for the load. Is the 4.7 Amp rating the motor peak draw or the nominal one. What I mean is that it takes many times more power to start start the motor than when the motor is running. Typically it is 3 to 7 times more amps to start the motor than when it is running. It could be that starting the vacumm cleaner is stressing the inverter and it is causing it to fail prematurely. If you can find out the locked rotor current draw of the motor, the that would be the mininum size of the inverter.

Also, the type of inverter will make a difference on how the motor operates. A modified sine wave will make the motor run hotter than a pure sine wave inverter. Hope this helps.

I have a 1997 motor guide wireless 24volt Big Water trolling motor. hooked it up to the batteries and put in a new 9volt battery in the foot pedal. the lights come on on top of the motor head and the foot pedal beeps, but the prop doesnt turn or spin (like there is no power to the bottom of the motor) any suggestions to what the problem is or how to fix it? (just bought the motor from a lady who’s husband died. dont have any manuals)
ANSWER : Hello there, as you said the power does not get to the bottom of the motor. The motor could be faulty or just completely bad. First you have to determine that the motor is good until you can determine this it is quite impossible to determine if there can be any fix. Take out the motor and try to power it on its own if it works fine then the problem is not from the motor but most likely the problem is from the motor. Let me know what your findings are. Motor was running great, but it died slowly and never start again
ANSWER : Check to see if you have a spark -then check if you are still getting fuel-and how old is the fuel-because it is recommended ,an im assuming its a 2 stroke motor,that the fuel should be replace with a fresh 2 stroke mixture every couple of months as the mixture jellyfies and sludges up the carb etc-try those first

TC5000 and after extended use I smell burning and upon removing the belt cover and drive belt I felt of the motor on the motor side of the drive pulley and it was ”red-hot”, obviously the source of the smell of the burning. The motor spins freely without any rubbing noise. The drive pulley (motor side) and the tread pulley appear to be alligned. One curious thing is that the threaded motor output shaft is recessed about 3/8” from the outside edge of the pulley. Could it be the bearing on the pulley side of the motor? I am dumbfounded as to what the solution might be. Note that I could not enter the exact product as my model seemed to be invalid. My model is the TC5000. Thanks [email protected]
ANSWER : Just because it spins freely doesnt mean it cant have a shorted winding. Id send it back where it came from or at least replace the motor.

I have an 8100 ES Reebok treadmill. There is a squeaking noise coming from the drive motor. It is coming from the non-belt side (if facing the front of the treadmill, the left of the drive motor. When the treadmill is turned off, I can manually move the walking belt in the walking / running direction and it will squeak. If I move it in the opposite direction, manually it does not squeak. Also, if I need to lubricate the bearings can you tell me how to get to them to do this. The motor has plenty of power and no other problems, only squeaking. I have sprayed a belt lubricant on the belt and also blown it all out with a can of compressed air (used for computer key boards).
ANSWER : Hi.the bearings in these machines should be lubricated and sealed for life. they are not designed to be touched. it sounds like you have done the important bits. belt lubrication and blowing out any debris that may be there. squeaks like this can be incredibly difficult to find, but can also be incredibly annoying.the main things that you can do is keep watching to try and find exactly where the squeak is coming from and check for anything wrapped around the edge of the roller.keep using the belt spray, and the compessed air.a good grade silicone lubricating spray used at the edges of the rollers, by the bearings and around the motor and gearbox unit may also help but do not get this spray on the belt as it can be very slippery.squeaks like this can start and stop on their own or develop slowly and go just as slowly.keep doing the maintenance you are doing, and use the silicone spray as described above.it may take a little while for the spray to work its way into the bearings as they are fairly well sealed but you should notice an improvement after a few days.please feel free to ask for further advice if you need
