Well, the power tube probably isn’t the problem. I’d make sure your marker is clean, and lubed with a good oil made for paintball.Next, inspect the spring. Any kind of kink or damage will affect performance. Also, make sure you’re testing it with a full tank.. don’t let low air pressure skew your diagnostics.Good luck!

For pistols, it is much more normal to see the 150 to 200 FPS range. While for assault rifles, ones below an FPS of 250 are generally not effective. A good FPS for an assault rifle would be anywhere from 300 to 400 FPS. Anything beyond 500 FPS is generally disallowed in most airsoft events due to safety concerns.
300FPS for a pistol is completely fine. This is because pistols are primarily meant to be used in close-quarters. Most targets in close quarters environments are within 25 feet. 300FPS is more than enough to reach that distance effectively.
Most paintball playing fields require a maximum of 280 fps for safety purposes. With an effective range of 80 to 100 feet for the average 280-fps marker, a paintball can reach its target in about one-third of a second.
To make sure you can fill tanks to their maximum capacity, invest in a high-pressure paintball gun air compressor with a rating of 5000 psi or higher.

Basically speaking, air is air. Now it’s the pressure that’s the concern. co2 bottles use a regular valve that has a pin in it and opens to allow the gas through. High Pressure Air – HPA is the same concept but since the pressure with co2 is built up by expanding gas, HPA has to do it with pressure only. So the tank is pressurized a LOT higher than co2, but there’s a regulator on the tank valve to bring the working pressure into the marker to the proper level.So yes, you can use “air”, but you need to make sure it has the right output for your marker. (i.e. not a low pressure HPA valve.). You’ll have the same problem though, getting someone to fill the bottle. Check with your local airsmith and paintball fields and stores. If they have co2 they would have HPA, but some do only deal with HPA since it’s “easier” in some cases. You may have to check around. Sometimes hardware stores have a small section in back, or you can check with the paintball places around to see if anyone in your area is equipped. Some teams have their own tanks, especially if there’s not a place to get fills locally. There’s also online communities like Brigade and various paintball sites where you can check around for other players. Someone may have a co2 fill tank, a scuba tank for HPA, or a group that gets tanks together to make a run and get them filled somewhere.Good luck!

Cannot adjust velocity
Please see below page 8 for picture of what I am talking about.
On page 8 in the middle left side is a picture of the internal vale parts.
When you pull the valve out on the back side is a little o ring that can be taken out using an o ring pick. Make sure to watch the way the parts come out and look for any rust, also broken o rings if the valve is stuck open this will allow the maximum of air to pass. Most of time is this part that is messed up. You can by the valve in one unit this is the best option.
But the first thing is to check the valve and all the parts. Lube it up and re install it.
My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.

How to set velocity on tippnan 98 custom – Tippmann 98 Custom Act Paintball Gun
There is a velocity adjuster on the left side of the body, just below and to the right of the “N” in “TIPPMANN.”
In order to adjust the velocity you need to be in a place where it is safe and legal to fire your marker (paintball field, with all bystanders protected by netting or paintball goggles.) You will need a chronograph and a 3/16-inch hex wrench.
The adjuster is a screw that blocks the gas flow from the valve to the bolt. If you screw it in (clockwise) it blocks more of the gas, so your velocity goes down. If you screw it out (anti-clockwise) it blocks less gas, so the velocity goes up.
Just take a shot over the chronograph to check your velocity, adjust and check again until you get it where you want it. Most paintball fields limit velocity to 285 feet per second. Never go above 300 feet per second, as velocities above that are unsafe (beyond paintball goggle ratings and can cause damage and infection on skin due to the heavy impact.)
It is important to test and adjust the velocity before each day of play, and even multiple times during the day as weather changes, because it is affected by temperature.
I just bought a new tippmann 98 custom act platinum edition and it doesnt seem to be firing right. i upgrades the rear bolt and trigger and after a few shots the bolt lock in the firing position. if i pull the trigger forward there is a click and then it will fire, but imediatly lock up again
I would look in to the bolt and check that it moves freely, also check that is properly lubed, and finally that your upgrade bolt does not need a different spring. I would also check the batteries on the grip if it is an E-trigger.

Go to ebay and buy a new ball detent for the 98 they are cheap and well worth it because how many times have you got shot for double balling 🙂
