Have the memory card face you, look at the left side, and find the switch. If the switch is in the “down” position, that means write protection is engaged and the card will not be able to save any new data. Flip the write-protect switch to the “up” position, thus disabling write-protection.

Unable to read camera on laptop to load pics
ANSWER : Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won’t run down your camera’s batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system’s drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer’s hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. ANSWER : Hi,
Is it just the live view from the lens that you can’t see ( totally blank screen), or are the icons visible?
If it still shows the icons but no live view then I suspect the shutter mechanism is stuck over the lens inside the camera.
Have a look at the lens and see if you can see the inner lens? You may have to adjust the zoom to bring the inner lens up to the end of the lens barrel.
If it is stuck then it will require removing and inspecting / cleaning.
