Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
I don’t think that the stop button has anything to do with it …and most probably the kids messed around with more features than just the stop button ..and the settings may be corrupted..cause Im not sure what exactly may be wrong ..I suggest to look carefully in the menu ..and look for something that sounds like reset ..or reset to factory settings ..or default to factory settings ..This way if there is something in the software area it will be reset and the functions will get back to the original values….If this will not fix it ..it is a physical fault and you will have to take it to be seen by an electrician …

Overloading is the most frequent cause of a tripped treadmill circuit breaker. Overloading is most often caused by worn belt/deck excess friction.
Because treadmills and incline trainers use the ground prong on the outlets to disperse static electricity, if you plug your machine into a GFCI outlet, it will likely trip the breaker and shut down the machine. If this is occurring, move the treadmill to a different outlet.
Treadmill Circuit Breaker Switch Means

The circuit breaker can be reset by simply pressing a button or flipping a switch, once the cause of the overload or short circuit has been identified and corrected.

Overloads are a common reason for circuit breakers to keep tripping. They happen when you put a greater electrical demand on a particular circuit than it`s capable of producing, or if you have too many light fixtures or appliances going simultaneously.
The first thing to do is double check that the power cord is plugged in and the power switch is set to the on position. Sometimes the circuit can get tripped and the switch will be in the off position. If that happens, when attempting to turn the treadmill back on, the safety key must also be in place.
To help determine what caused the problem, unplug all the items on the circuit before resetting the breaker. After it`s reset and rested for a few minutes, turn on or plugin items, one at a time, to determine what may have caused the overload.
If your treadmill keeps shutting off then turning back on very quickly after, it could be an issue with its power supply. Simply check the power outlet where the treadmill is plugged in and make sure it`s plugged in correctly, and it`s secure enough to not move while the treadmill is on.
Connect one headlight to the battery`s positive terminal and connect the other headlight to the battery`s negative terminal. Turn on the headlights and check for an electric current, sparks, or heat. If you see any sparks or heat, then you`ve likely got an electrical short circuit on your hands.
Circuit overload is one of the most common reasons for circuit breakers tripping, and you can prevent it from happening by running fewer appliances at the same time on that circuit. The best long-term solution, however, is to have an electrician update your home`s wiring to add additional circuits.
Britannica Dictionary definition of POWER TRIP. [count] : an activity or way of behaving that makes a person feel powerful : something that a person does for the pleasure of using power to control other people. She`s been on a power trip since she was promoted to manager.
They occur when a low-resistance path not suited to carry electricity receives a high-volume electrical current. In simpler terms, short circuits happen when hot wire touches a conductive object it`s not supposed to. The result of a short circuit can be appliance damage, electrical shock, or even a fire.
Treadmills require lubrication to limit the amount of friction between the platform and belt. When the friction increases to a certain point, the machine is automatically set to power off. This may be the cause for the machine to stop working suddenly. Try lubricating the belt.
All treadmills come with a safety key that clips to your clothing and stops the machine if you fall and dislodge the key. The best way to prevent treadmill accidents is to always use the safety key. If you have a treadmill at home, remove the key when you`re not using the treadmill so your children can`t turn it on.
Unplug your treadmill and then check all your wiring to make sure nothing is pinched, crimped or loose. Remove and replace each connector in case corrosion is causing the problem. If the problem persists, you most likely have a bad control panel or some call it a console.
According to what the manufacturers say, the average life of a treadmill is about 10 years. However, if you take care of your treadmill properly and lubricate the belt regularly, you can make it last longer. Nevertheless, some of the parts might still fail, and it does not mean that you need a new machine.
Most often, when a GFCI “trips” it is the result of an overloaded circuit or faulty appliance plugged into the outlet or an outlet down circuit. Once the GFCI outlet senses an overload, it trips or “breaks” the circuit. If it trips immediately, reset and try an appliance that wasn`t previously plugged in.
Dim or Flickering Lights– Another common sign you have bad ground is dim or flickering lights. Generally, intermittently dim headlights are caused by either a fault with the bulb itself or a broken circuit.
A short circuit is an abnormal connection between two nodes of an electric circuit intended to be at different voltages. It is caused when a “hot” conductor makes contact with a neutral or ground conductor. A ground fault is an accidental contact between an energized conductor and ground or equipment frame.
In most cases, it`s better to repair your treadmill than completely replace it, but it depends on the type of issue you`re experiencing and how long you`ve had it. If the damage is simple, like needing a replacement belt, it would be better to replace the belt than the entire treadmill.
Most treadmills are built to last for about 10 years, though with proper care and maintenance, you may be able to get a few more years out of it. ProForm`s Pro, Carbon T10 and Carbon T7 treadmills come with a 10-year frame and two-year parts and one-year labor warranty, so you`re covered if something goes wrong.
Overall though, most folks are pretty happy with their ProForm gear. If you`re looking for a more affordable alternative, it`s a good brand to consider.
Overall, they are certainly worth the investment. It`s worth noting that ProForm and NordicTrack treadmills are quite similar, so consider comparing machines from both brands to see which one best suits your personal needs before diving into a purchase.
A failed power supply, broken power cord, tripped circuit breaker switch, failed circuit breaker switch, bad power switch, wiring failure, bad motor control board or failed console display can prevent the treadmill from powering up.

I have a Kohler Condidant 5 Generator that will run as long as you hold the start button in. It dies when you let off. I have a harness for the remote switch but no switch – It also will start the generator when you cross the red and black wire and run as long as you hold them together. There are 3 wires to the main switch and 5 to the remote switch. Does the starter stay engaged the whole time you hold the start switch or does the computer release the starter once it is running? The Generator is producing electricity because I tested it while holding the start button. Some where is a wire that shold tell it to keep running. I have read online many descriptions of the same problem, most are told the board is bad so they replace it and still have the problem. Have not found a solution. Talked to a marine machanic today and he said he fixed his friends generator doing the same thing by running a bypass wire but he couldnt remember exactly what he did it was a long time ago. Can anyone help me. Thank you
ANSWER : The problem is either the ballast resistor or the starter bypass relay. The bypass relay should be part of the starter solenoid. I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly where the ballast resistor is located. It should be a physically fairly large resistor made of ceramic. It should be retangular roughly 1.5″-3″ long and 3/8″-1/2″ accross with a wire on each end. It could also be a coil of wire mounted on a phenolic board.

When it starts up, it works fine, no complaints whatsoever. But lately, I’ve not been able to use it due to the start-up problem. I put the batteries in, the display comes on, but it will not start up when I begin motion. The control buttons will not work, either. Please inform me what it is I can do to fix this problem. Thank You

ANSWER : Hi,It stands for a lost signal in the console wire harness. It could be one of the wires has been broken or there is a connection loose. unplug and replug all connections. Then check for continuity in all the wires in the harness. Try to enter the service mode, press Stop Belt, Faster, and Slower
simultaneously. P000 appears in the Select display, indicating that no
key is pressed. To exit the service mode, press and release the same three keys simultaneously or press Power twice to power up into normal mode. Check
the speed sensor to make sure it is within 3-4 inch from the front
roller (magnet). Then check the sensor wire harness to make sure it is
fully seated on the lower control board. If the problem persists, then you need to inspect the machine properly as it could be a faulty console/control board /speed sensor.Let me know,if needed further assistance.Hope i helped you. Thanks for using ‘ Fixya ‘ and have a nice day!!
