Since the working voltage of Humminbird sounders is between 10V and 20V, a Humminbird can be used with either a battery from the Angling line or the AV line.

Sensitivity and contrast go hand in hand. Humminbird fish finders, for example, come pre-configured at “10 and 10,” which simply meads a level 10 setting on a range of 0-20. The 10 halfway setting is optimal in most situations.

Using Humminbird PC

On your task bar go to START> PROGRAMS>HUMMINBIRDPC. This will start the HumminbirdPC program. After Humminbird PC loads connect the power cable to the unit and power on your unit. On the Humminbird PC program you will then see an icon of a unit.

As a rule of thumb, use frequencies below 140 kHz when fishing very deep water (over 1500 feet). Between 600 and 1500 feet, frequencies between 100 kHz and 160 kHz tend to work well. For anything 600 feet or shallower, you should use higher frequencies – over 160 kHz.

Ultrasound frequency used by a fish finder generally ranges from 15 kHz to 200 kHz. However, the majority of the conventional fish finders oriented for recreational craft utilize 50 kHz and 200 kHz.

The Position Format on your Humminbird unit changes the way your GPS coordinates are displayed using one of three different formats. APEX, SOLIX and ONIX units display these formats as seen below: ddd°mm`ss. s” – Degrees Minutes Seconds.

Transducer Frequency

200 kHz works best in water under 200 feet/60 meters and when you need to get an accurate reading while moving at faster speeds. High frequencies give you greater detail to detect very small objects but over a smaller portion of water.

Also, in general terms, 800 kHz will provide a slightly higher resolution image than 455 kHz. Under most circumstances, this will be most obvious when inspecting the image of a piece of structure; those images *may* appear slightly clearer (sharper, or less fuzzy along the fringes) when using 800 kHz.

Transducer frequency is inversely proportional to depth of penetration of the ultrasound signal into the body and directly proportional to image resolution. The common transducer frequencies for pelvic imaging range from 3.5 to 7.5 MHz.

The Ethernet Cable is a 15` cable that allows the connection of two Ethernet capable units to be connected, or connection of a Humminbird control head to an accessory 5 Port Ethernet Switch (AS ETH 5PXG), as part of a multi-unit Ethernet network.

It is not recommended to run a FishFinder and transducer on a boat that is not in the water as you will not get any readings from the transducer.

It`s really easy to connect an Ethernet cable and set up an Ethernet connection between your computer and your hub. Simply plug one end of your Ethernet cable into your computer and the other into one of your hub`s Ethernet ports. That`s it, you can now enjoy fast, reliable internet.

Open Settings > Network & internet. Check your Ethernet connection status at the top of the screen. Make sure it says Connected underneath the network connection name. If there`s an error, such as one that says Action needed, select Ethernet to view your Ethernet connection settings.
