The serial number and manufacturer`s number for these EZGO golf cart models can be found on a plate located under the glove box on the passenger`s side of the vehicle. The serial number is either six or seven numbers and does not indicate the model year. The manufacturer`s number does reflect the model year.
The serial number code is arranged as follows: It will have a small grouping of letters and numbers. The last two numbers in the letter/number group is the year of manufacture. The longer grouping of numbers (no letters) is your serial number, which you will not need in order to know the year of your golf cart.
It should have a small reset button (Usually it will be red) located near the main battery supply. Hit the reset button and then put the cover back on the motor. The next step would be to recharge your cart and try turning it on again.

Count the number of batteries and voltage rating
If each battery in your golf cart has a voltage of 6 volts, the overall voltage of your vehicle will be 36 volts. But, if your golf cart has six 8-volt batteries, the overall voltage will be 48 volts.
Where your manufacturer`s code is located generally tells you which EZGO model you have (i.e.: TXT, RXV, Marathon, etc.). On many of the newer EZ-GO`s, they will have the words “TXT”, “Freedom TXT”, “RXV” or “Freedom RXV” listed on the side of your golf cart.
The last two numbers of the EZGO manufacturer`s code, are the model year (cart`s age) for all EZ-GO`s manufactured from 1979 & up. For Example: If the last two numbers of your EZ-GO manufacturer`s code are “93”, you own a 1993 EZGO Marathon.
When scheduling service or ordering parts for your golf cart it is very important to know and locate the serial number (VIN). Each cart has its own unique serial number just like a car and by knowing what this number is you are able to determine what type, year, and power supply your cart has.
Reset the battery cable
Unplug the negative battery cable (the black wire) before beginning any work on the speed controller. Once disconnected, you should remove the speed controller cover and then reconnect the negative cable.
If you try to start your cart and don`t hear that “click,” it`s likely an issue with your solenoid. If you`re lucky, the problem could be as simple as a loose wire or a broken coil. In some cases, corrosion can also be a factor. If you suspect a faulty solenoid, your best bet is to take your cart to a repair shop.
Speed up a Gas Golf Cart
The easiest way to do this is to remove the governor, which is a part that limits your vehicle`s speed by setting a numeric limit to how much the throttle can be opened. As you may know, opening the throttle lets more air into the engine, which increases the overall speed.
On an electric cart, there are fewer parts and therefore fewer parts to go bad. with a gas cart, you have clutches, carb, fuel pump, belts, valves, starter and more.
How do golf carts work? Gas-powered golf carts run on combustion engines. These engines are usually four-stroke, but older models might use two-stroke instead. They`re fueled with regular gas like any car or truck.
Determining how many volts your golf cart uses is as easy as counting the water fill caps on all of your batteries. If you have six 6 volt batteries your golf cart is a 36 volt cart, if you have six 8 volt batteries or four 12 volt batteries your golf cart is a 48 volt cart.
The standard electric golf cart will have four, six, or eight batteries in total. The voltage will be either 36 volts or 48 volts.

Regular golf carts do not have VIN numbers but have serial numbers instead. VIN numbers are not required for golf carts because they are not manufactured for street-legal use. Serial numbers are manufacturer-specific, and you will need to provide it when repairing or selling your golf cart.
You can either find the Club Car Golf Cart serial number on the side panel on the passenger floorboard or on the driver side on the side panel. Do keep in mind that if you have your golf cart rebuilt that your serial number tag may get moved around, painted over, or taken off.
The 1st three numbers of your serial number will always provide your manufacture date. The 1st number is the YEAR of manufacture; the 2nd & 3rd numbers indicate the MONTH of manufacture.
Example of club car serial number – PH0901-123456. PH defines character A- that means the Model number of your golf cart. 0901 falls under character “B,” which means model year and build week of the vehicle. Here “09” is the model year, and “01” is the model week.
