How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

We offer a diverse range of insights on identifying and resolving common problems in sports. Our sources encompass academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays shared by seasoned athletes. :

Elliptical Machine

Store the equipment indoors if possible, or cover it to avoid damage from sun and rain as well as wear from exposure. Stick to a consistent lubrication routine on the moving parts with WD-40 Specialist® White Lithium Grease on the elliptical machine to stop it from squeaking.

Most people have a can of WD-40 kicking around the house. It is often the go-to solution for squeaky doors and other various home uses. However, it is not a good idea to use it as a fitness equipment lubricant. We strongly recommend you avoid using it on a treadmill, elliptical, or any other type of exercise equipment.
Lubricating Parts

Your machine should be lubricated every 6 months. We recommend lubricating both the elliptical arms and the pedal support tubes with PTFE lubricant.

For indoor cycling, it is recommended to use a dry lube, wax or wax-based lube. All these lubricants are slightly more forgiving when applied to a “dirty” chain than a wet lube, which must first be removed with a degreaser. Dry lubes can be cleaned off the chain with a wet cloth.
WD-40 Specialist® Silicone Lubricant safely lubricates, resists water and protects metal and non-metal surfaces such as rubber, plastic and vinyl.
As the spray is silicone-based, it`s perfect for using on rubber parts like pipes, window seals, plumbing fittings and belts. You can even use it on metal, plastic and wood, without it leaving a stain. As well as protecting your tools and machines from rust,WD-40 Silicone Lubricant will repel dust, dirt, oil and grime.
Cooking oil

Whether it`s olive, canola, or vegetable oil, its uses can extend past the kitchen as a cheap WD-40 alternative. The greasy texture of cooking oil makes it a great lubricant, and it`s a good multipurpose oil, too.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer that is used in some lubricants. PTFE based lubricants are known for their ability to lower energy consumption and wear on machinery by reducing friction.
How long & how often should you exercise on it? If you want, you can use the elliptical trainer to exercise every day. But I suggest that it is most appropriate for you to exercise on it for 150 minutes every week. In other words, an average of 30 minutes of exercise every day, five days a week, is enough.
Dry lube spray provides superior lubrication and protection. Creates a dry film that resists dirt and reduces friction, wear. Ideal for locks, window, door tracks, drawers, catches and more.
Treadmill Maintenance

A dry deck is the most common problem to controller and drive motor damage and failure. LUBRICANT-NEVER use WD40, 3 In One Oil, Vaseline or any non approved treadmill belt lubricant. For best results use manufacture recommended lubricant.

The main difference between silicone spray and dry lubricant is that silicone spray is water repellent, whereas dry lubricant is not water repellent. Silicone Spray contains silicone, whereas dry lubricant contains PTFE.
There are three main types of lubricants: oil-based, water-based, and silicone-based.
YES! Olive oil, like most vegetable oils is an excellent lubricant apart from its poor oxidation stability. The problem with using vegetable oils as a lubricant is the fact that the oil forms a gummy residue that will clog moving parts after some time.
Silicone grease (spray) is the correct lubricant to use. Don`t use sewing machine oil. Silicone grease is commonly used for lubricating and preserving rubber parts, such as O-rings. Additionally, silicone grease does not swell or soften the rubber, which can be a problem with hydrocarbon-based greases.
Silicone spray is best used on rubber parts like slide seals. I use WD-40 (or PB Blaster) on metal parts but it will dry up and evaporate in a couple of hours. As mentioned above, and unlike lithium grease, silicone lubricant is the perfect lubricant for rubber surfaces, but it is also extremely versatile, so it can be used on most other materials, including metal, plastic, wood, and even painted materials.
Silicone oils are dielectric and so is silicone grease, silicone is generally low cost and widely available. However we do not recommend using any silicone based lubricant for use on electrical connectors or contacts.
There are many different types of plastic, but there are two kinds that you should avoid using WD-40 on—polycarbonate and clear polystyrene plastic. Polycarbonate is a transparent plastic that is commonly used in greenhouses, and polystyrene is typically used for styrofoam and soft drink lids among other items.
50–60% naphtha (petroleum), hydrotreated heavy. <25% petroleum base oils.
Multi-Purpose Calcium Sulfonate Grease | WD-40. WD-40 Specialist® Heavy-Duty Grease is a calcium sulfonate grease that offers a versatile solution for all extreme conditions and is the only grease you`ll ever need.
WD-40 High-Performance Silicone Lubricant

This Silicone lubricant is very popular due to its non-staining, hardworking formula that provides excellent lubrication making it ideal for internal application. Protecting against moisture; this WD40 doesn`t attract dirt as some lubricants do.

Silicone or PTFE products are suitable for plastic-to-plastic lubrication, but the silicone will form a thicker, wetter layer that may collect dust and dirt. PTFE will have a thinner, yet harder layer that will not attract dust or absorb grime.
The simple answer is that they are the same thing: Teflon™ is a brand name for PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) and is a trademark brand name used by the Du Pont company and its subsidiary companies (Kinetic which first registered the trademark & Chemours which currently owns it).

Loud banging noise when using the Kettler elliptical trainer, ctr
ANSWER : This is a common problem for the CTR1, it actually sounds a lot worse than it is. It’s just one of the 4 bolts that hold the front “pole” of the CTR1 in place that is broken. You will need to unscrew the bolts at the base (just move the plastic piece that hides the bolts up on the “pole”). After removing the pole you will need to remove the broken bolt from the inside of the “pole” with plyers. Then just put the pole back in the base, replace the screws (be sure to tighten them good). All will be good :)This is a weak point of the CTR1, be prepared to run into the same problem again down the road…

Kettler tennis table has rusty legs, one is very bad
ANSWER : To stop this much rust – go to any hardware store and buy (I forget the exact name) a “paint” called Rust Stop. It will stop the rusting and turn the existing rust into a hard black surface that you can then paint.

How to access batter on kettler condor elliptical machine?
ANSWER : If you look behind the unit, (directly behind the digital readout) you’ll see a small rectangular inset, if you look up in that (I used my cell phone light), you’ll see a tab that you can pry with a screwdriver gently to release the computer section. Just keep one hand on top, when you pry it you’ll feel the unit pop up, then you can lift it out. It takes 2 AA batteries, thankfully not some bizarre disk batteries :)Btw when you look at the readout, you’ll notice it’s set in a silver square- that square is the computer module that pops out.Hope this helps!
