How do I find the model number of my SPALDING® basketball system? For help finding your systems model number, visit our interactive manual finder. In-ground – There is a three digit number on the front of the backboard, to the right of the rim. This set of numbers will identify your system.
The adjustment cylinder has a loop at the bottom that receives a removable crank handle. Insert the hooked end of the crank handle into the adjustment loop. Then turn crank handle clockwise to raise rim height, counterclockwise to lower.
Simply place a level on the sides of the pole to check it for levelness. You can loosen the top nuts slightly and adjust the bottom nuts to move the system up or down on the corner which needs leveling. When the system is level, simply tighten all nuts against the pole system.

Have one person climb the ladder and place one end on the tape measure at the front tip of the rim so it is even with the TOP side of the rim. Drop the tape measure straight down to the playing surface to check the distance. The tape measure should read 10 feet for regulation basketball, typically ages 11 and older.
Ways to secure the basketball goal include: filling the base with water, sand, base gel or using a weighted base anchor system. Adding water to the base is as simple as hooking a hose to the base hole. This is a cheaper and easier option than sand.

Therefore, I recommend (and we recommend in our instructions) to use sand. Sand is denser and heavier, and filling the base with sand creates a much more stable pole and backboard. Some of you may be concerned that using sand makes the system extremely heavy to move. You are right, it does.
