The Walking style IV uses a highly accurate 3D sensor to help you track your steps and how many calories you may burn. It automatically detects your active, brisk steps from your normal walking routine.
Press the RESET Button for more 2 seconds. All the data (number of steps, number of aerobic steps, minutes for aerobic steps, calories, and distance) for the current day will be reset to 0. The data stored in the memory for the previous days will not be deleted.
1 Press for two seconds. rotates when using the Action mode. 2 Start walking. The display changes with each press of to display the step count, distance, calories burned, and aerobic (brisk) steps, in that order.
Measure your stride before setting up your pedometer. Measure the distance from START to END in inches. Calculate your stride length by dividing the total distance that you measured by 10 then divide that number by 12. Stride length = Total distance in inches ÷ 10 (# of strides) ÷ 12 (inches per foot).
An average person has a stride length of approximately 2.1 to 2.5 feet. That means that it takes over 2,000 steps to walk one mile and 10,000 steps would be almost 5 miles.
These results are also only valid at the walking speeds tested (2-4 miles per hour). The pedometers may not be as reliable at extremely slow walking speeds. In fact, recent research shows the Omron HJ-720ITC to lose its accuracy at extremely slow walking speeds, such as in chronic heart failure patients.
A simple way to calibrate the device, that is to determine if it is accurately counting all the steps, is by walking and counting. Simply walk for some time and manually count the number of steps you take, and compare this to the number that is displayed on the pedometer.
Turn on physical activity tracking

On your Android phone, open the Settings app. Allow. At the bottom, tap Profile. Under “Tracking preferences,” turn Track your activities on or off.

Distance in feet/number of steps = step length.

If you want to calculate your walking stride length, divide the number of steps you took by 2 and divide that number into the measured distance. If it took you 16 steps to cover 20 feet, divide the number of steps (16) by 2 to get the number of strides.

Note the number of steps it takes the athlete to cross the finish line. Round to the nearest 0.5 steps. Calculate Stride length = race distance / steps. Calculate Step frequency = race distance / ( finishing time * stride length )
If the average stride length is 80 centimetres, it takes 1250 steps to walk one kilometre.
It can be useful to check your results by the other methods. It is the method used in the automatic settings of many pedometers and activity trackers: Females: Height in inches multiplied by 0.413 equals stride length. Males: Height in inches multiplied by 0.415 equals stride length.
What does 10,000 steps look like? Ten thousand steps equates to about eight kilometres, or an hour and 40 minutes walking, depending on your stride length and walking speed.
Taking 10,000 steps is about the same as walking four or five miles, depending on your stride.
How to Get Your 10,000 Steps. Taking 10,000 steps is equal to walking approximately 5 miles.
If you want a device that`ll accurately measure your steps and distance, monitor your heart rate, and track calories burned (plus a whole lot of other health data), Fitbit`s Versa 3 is our top choice.
Set your pedometer to 0, and then walk and count off 100 steps to determine if your pedometer is accurate. Remember that it`s accurate if the error is within 10% of your count (90-110 steps if you walk 100 steps).
With all OMRON blood pressure monitors, the recommended time between calibration depends on the use of the product. If the monitor is being used in a home or personal environment, we recommend they are re-calibrated every 2 years.

The Battery Is Dead

As the battery runs down, you may see flaky readings—counting too few or too many steps. If you have been using the pedometer for a few months without a problem, this may cause newly inaccurate readings. If it is a new pedometer, try changing the battery to see if that corrects the problem.

Vibrations that affect all or part of your body can also result in inaccurate step counts. For example, riding in a car, bus, train, or subway can create motions that are interpreted as steps. You can add hundreds of steps while driving your car for an hour or less.
So, because the app is running constantly, one of the most common downsides of using one is that it`ll likely drain your battery. If you do want to use a pedometer app without emptying your battery, be sure to pause the step counter when you`re not using it.
