Clogged Air Filter

A dirty air filter is one of the most common causes of a heat pump not blowing hot air. As you probably know, an air filter is a little device inside your heat pump system whose job is to filter out dust, allergens, and other pollutants that come from the outside air.

Most furnaces will default to just running the blower if it senses a malfunction. Furnaces have an array of sensors that will detect overheating and automatically shut off the heating element if it senses a possible safety problem. This is why you will experience your furnace “running” but not heating.
Examine your furnace and look for a raised button or switch to the right of the ignition control box (or the “ Lennox limit switch reset”). Press and release the limit control switch to rest your Lennox furnace.
This problem can be due to several possible reasons, including obstructed blades or burnt fan motors. Regardless of which, these can prevent your furnace from producing and releasing heat effectively. To address the problem, use an ohmmeter to check the current in the motor.
If your air conditioner will turn on, and your thermostat is set properly, but your system is not cooling you may have a dirty or blocked air condenser. Your first step is to check the outside unit and clean around and remove any debris or weeds that are blocking air circulation.
POSSIBLE PROBLEM & DESCRIPTION

If the fan does not operate automatically after the burners have ignited, or after turning the thermostat fan switch to the “On” position, this may indicate either a bad blower motor or a bad capacitor (below).

The location of the reset button will depend on the model of your furnace, but it can typically be found on the side of the blower motor inside the blower compartment. Once you locate the reset button, press and hold it for 30 seconds. Then, release the button and wait for 30 seconds.

Check your electrical box to see if you`ve tripped a breaker. If you have, reset it. Ensure the switch for the air handler is turned on. Next, set your thermostat to “on” instead of “auto.” It doesn`t matter if it`s on “heat” or “cool.” Feel your vents for any airflow.

Look at the control panel on your Lennox furnace which could be placed on the lowermost panel on downflow furnaces or the top panel on other models. Observe your furnace and look for a raised button or the “Limit Control” switch. Push and release the switch to reset your Lennox furnace.
If your furnace is not turning on you should first check if the filter is clean. Dirty filters cause insufficient airflow and can prevent the furnace from starting. Other reasons it won`t start can stem from improper thermostat settings, forgetting to turn on the gas line, or faulty pilot light.
If your boiler stops responding to your thermostat or heating controls, it`s worth checking the batteries. Not all thermostats use batteries – some are wired into the mains but have backup batteries in case your power fails. If you`ve experienced a power cut, your thermostat`s backup battery might`ve run out.
Check Air Filter

A clogged air filter is a common cause behind a heat pump not working, as the system doesn`t receive adequate airflow due to this obstruction. The system often overheats and shuts down, leaving you without cooling. Or, not enough cooling makes it into your home due to the restriction.

System Needs Maintenance Services

If your heat pump blows cold air intermittently or if the air warms up after a cold start, a system tune-up is in order. Regular maintenance helps keep HVAC systems working safely and reliably.

To put it very simply, the furnace fan limit switch is a control that tells your furnace`s fan when to turn on and off. So, when the furnace isn`t on, it tells the blower not to operate (and send cold air into your home) and when the furnace is on, it tells the blower to turn on and start circulating the warm air.
The fan setting on your thermostat controls your HVAC`s system blower. The blower helps circulate hot or cold air throughout your home until the temperature on the thermostat is reached. There are two settings on your thermostat to control the fan – auto or on.
If the fan doesn`t work, before pointing the finger at the blower motor, check fuses for the motor to make sure they`re still good. Many vehicles have two fuses for the blower motor, one in the interior fuse block and the other under the hood. The blower motor is usually under the dashboard on the passenger side.

My MSR Pocket Rocket will no longer light. Prior to the complete malfunction, the flame started to become much weaker, and then finally, the burner just would not light. I’ve removed the rubber o-ring on the bottom, uncovering a small hole, but am unsure as to whether this would have anything to do with gas delivery to the burner area. My guess is that there is some sort of buildup that is plugging the passageway through which gas would stream, preventing me from being able to light the burner, but am unable to locate an issue, since it appears I cannot disassemble the unit.
Do you have any suggestions?

ANSWER : Hi, chances are the jet is clogged – I’ve experienced this myself on the same stove.

I would leave the rubber o ring alone, the chances of the hole there being blocked are slim, it is more likely to be the outlet jet you can see throught the holes on the riser tube under the burner head.
This tube can be unscrewed – you may need to put something through like a pen for leverage. Once you have done this you can remove the tube and you will see the tiny jet in the top of the brass nut on the knurled base of the stove. Then its simply a matter of finding a thin enough wire or pricker to prod araound in the jet. I have a fine wire brush that works well, although I have only had to do it once in several years.
Put it all back together and you should be back to full power – the whole job takes two minutes tops.
The other thing I did was screw the riser tube back hand tight only – this means I can dismantle and clear the jet when camping if required. It doesnt affect performance or safety. I put a strand of the wire in a blob of blu tak in the plastic case the stove comes with – job done! Hope this helps.

I have a 99 yamaha f100 four stroke outboard. Problem I have is boat will acclereate fine get up on plane and after running for about a mob at wot will decell and only run around 4500 rpm. Then after coming back to idle will have a slight miss then run smooth and repeat every run. Changed the plugs and fuel filters alll oe yamaha has fresh oil timing belt is good any ideas will help or fuel psi spec. I am an ase master automotive tech so I know alot about engs. To me it feels like it’s running out of gas. Like the carb bows are full when I take off but then runs out after running wot. Any info will help

Trying to install a new fluro light, pull out old light to find 3 reds and 3 blacks 1 copper earth. What do I do to connect it up the right way??? When I pulled the old Fluro light out the 3 Reds were joined together with a connector ,two blacks were joined to one end of light wire, the other to the other end of the light wire,earth wire to the light case,the third black wire was connected to the wire from the ballast? Does this all make sense
ANSWER : No, this does not make sense but I have seen strange wiring before. There is power going from the light someplace else. Just connect it back up exactly as the old light was connected. It worked before so it will work again. If it works it is wired correctly. Without being there to check which wire was the hot wire and which was neutral it is impossible for me to say what is what. Make sure you connect the ground wire to the light chassis.

Hi, my tiger river spa does not heat. Filters are clean, jets work, no light installed. On ciruit board, green light for “Lim” , red light for heat, no other lights. Just bought house one month ago, no manuals.
Spa is a Bengal. Have noticed a symbol (can’t tell what it is) on the screen then most of screen goes blank with just the power light on. Is there a vacation mode or something like that?

ANSWER : Spa’s are such that so many components can become faulty when left unattended to over a period of time. But most likely what your unit needs is just a regular service to clean up its systems and also ensure there are no leakages in the pipes. Bengal is a wonderful and durable product.The problem could range from low power supply to wires being eaten up by rats and other pests. Also it could be burnt out heaters thereby the inability to produce heat. The indicator on the screen could mean various things but the screen going blank usually would be caused by poor power supply.If you dont have the technical know how refer an expert to check it out and ensure the exact problem of the above mentioned is wrong with it before repairs can be carried out.Hope this solution has been helpful?

ANSWER : If the motor is reaching full revs look at the jet assemby for fouling or prop damage. If it is not reaching full revs get authorised mechanic to fix it, it will be cheaper in the long run.

No gauges and no lights
