Its a 2000 kawasaki 125 dirt bike.. wont start. ran great last fall, never got below 40 degrees all winter, went to start it and it wont. wont roll start or anything.. spark plug has spark and it is getting gas to the piston so whats wrong with it?
Try to clean out the Carberator. I had the same problem someone told me to clean my carberator which I never did before but i looked it up on youtube and tried it. All went well

A dirt bike requires spark, fuel, air, and compression to start and stay running. The most common reasons a dirt bike won`t start is from lack of oxygen, a dead battery, bad gas, the engine is losing compression, or it needs new spark plugs.
2 stroke hard to start when hot
A “band-aid” fix that will help is to hold the throttle wide open when you kick start it. This lets more air in to essentially lean out the mixture enough to get it started. However, a more permanent fix that will give you easier starts when hot is adjusting the air screw or pilot jet.
Engage the Clutch
Many bikes must have the clutch in before they will start—even when you`re in neutral. There`s also the possibility that your bike`s clutch switch has damage, and you can try “pumping” the clutch a few times to see if that helps reset it.
A non-cranking condition could be due to a dead battery, blown starter-motor fuse, faulty starter-motor relay, a safety override (like the kickstand being down while the bike is in gear), or perhaps even something as basic as the kill switch being in the off position.
CHECKING THE PLUG
In most cases, if your bike absolutely refuses to start, the problem is electrical. The quickest way to find out if it`s electrical is to check the plug for spark. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head and pop it back into the spark plug cap.
A dirty carburetor or worn spark plug can contribute to this behavior, but the problems that can lead to catastrophe are worn engine seals or gaskets. Stator side crank seals, leaking base gaskets, or intake manifold gaskets are all examples of seals that will result in air leaks which can lean out the air fuel ratio.
This mainly happens when there is dirt in and around the parts of the carburetor. The areas of concern here include fuel lines, petcock, pilot jets, or fuel filters. The dirt blocks the fuel passage and it cannot reach the carburetor properly.
A 4-stroke 250cc engine has a top speed of around 80mph, while a 2-stroke has a maximum speed of about 85mph. 2-strokes can generate power quicker than 4-strokes which makes them ideal for getting started on a strong note in competitive races or for accelerating out of corners.
This is important – if the starter motor sounds like it`s turning over, as usual, your issue is probably the battery. If the engine cranks but doesn`t start, it could be having trouble producing a spark, getting fuel, or creating compression.
Old spark plugs are another culprit which might make a bike hard to start. If the plug is old and worn the spark will be weaker, making it more difficult to ignite the mixture. Keeping fresh plugs in the engine can greatly improve the bikes starting tendencies.
Just because your bike won`t start doesn`t mean the battery is flat and trying to jump, bump or push-start the bike can actually damage it and cause you injury. RACQ tech boss and Suzuki Bandit tragic Steve Spalding warns against jumping straight into jump starting your bike.
A 125cc two-stroke or a 250cc four-stroke is great for a beginner; riders who weigh less than 150 pounds can handle bikes under 250cc, while larger riders will need the suspension found in 250cc models.
THE CAUSE OF BROKEN CRANKSHAFTS IS RARELY MATERIAL FATIGUE BROUGHT ABOUT BY EXTENDED USE. Far more frequently, broken crankshafts can be attributed to: Mechanical overload of the crankshaft through abnormal combustion, water hammers, etc. Sudden jamming of the engine due to a faulty gearbox, loose counterweights, etc.
You can usually recognise crankshaft damage by the typical noise it makes. If you hear a clacking sound that matches the engine speed, this commonly indicates a defect in the connecting rod bearings. If you can hear a rumbling or grumbling coming from deep within your engine, the crankshaft bearings have been affected.
There are twice as many power strokes in a single stroke engine when compared to a 4-stroke engine. The two-stroke engines are quicker to accelerate because they can complete their combustion cycle in almost half the time when compared to a four-stroke engine.
Two-stroke engines are a much simpler design, making them easier to fix. They do not have valves, but rather ports. Four-stroke engines have more parts, therefore they are more expensive and repairs cost more. Two-stroke engines require pre-mixing of oil and fuel, while the 4-strokes do not.
In simple terms a two-stroke engine fires at every cycle as compared to its counterpart, which fires at every alternate cycle. This means at a given RPM a 2-stroke engine fires twice than the 4-stroke engine, producing not only almost twice the power of a 4-stroke engine but also double the sound of a 4-stroke engine.
Motorcycle batteries can be jump started from another motorcycle, car battery, or portable battery jump starter. Most motorists keep jumper cables in their car, so it shouldn`t be too hard to find someone who is willing to help you out.
CDI ignition: Due to its ability to start a motorcycle without a battery most of the dirt bikes uses this ignition. A dirt bike has no lights or horn whatsoever so it does not require a battery to power these electricals.
Plant your right foot on the pedal and push it down firmly to start your engine. The engine should start rolling over once your pedal is fully pressed down. If your bike doesn`t start right away or if you`re cold-starting it, try using the kick starter 3 or 4 more times to get it running.
An engine needs more air as it warms up, so the choke needs to open to allow more air. With a manual choke, you will need to close and open the choke yourself when starting your engine, while an electric choke will control the air supply itself when the engine is started.
For carburettor fitted bikes, a choke valve/cable helps ensure there is enough useable fuel to start the engine when temperature and climatic conditions are low. The ratio of air and fuel required to start the engine changes with temperature due to the physics and thermo-dynamics behind combustion and air density.
The short answer is that a 125cc bike`s average speed will be about 50-60 miles per hour. The average top speed will be around 70-80 miles per hour. However, so many different factors affect how fast any particular motorcycle can go. There are lots of things to consider when determining your actual bike`s speed.
