Anything short of this is out. The shuttle must land between the centre line and the outer tramline on the side that you are serving to. If it lands on either of those lines it`s in. The shuttle must land on or before the doubles service line as depicted above. If it lands past this, it is out.
Badminton is played indoors because the shuttlecock flight is stuck by the wind. It can be played as a casual recreational activity outdoors, but it`s usually played in gardens or on beaches. Competitive play involves really hard and fast shuttlecock flights.
