Oil coming out of the dipstick receptacle indicates positive pressure in your crankcase; it should be negative. The PCV valve is there to control the flow of blow-by gasses in the crankcase as they are drawn into the intake manifold by engine vacuum.
Some dipsticks will only go into the tube one way, and not the other, due to a bend in the tube. Try rotating the dipstick 180 degrees and then try again to insert it.
Most blowby occurs when exhaust gas enters the crankcase by going past the piston rings, while other sources include turbochargers. Blowby that passes the piston rings introduces pressure and combustion gases into the oil pan.
If the oil level is a little above the full mark, that shouldn`t cause problems. If it`s overfilled by half a quart or more, or foam shows on the dipstick, the best fix is to have the oil drained and refilled to the proper level.
The oil level dropping below the minimum dipstick line is one of the most common causes of low oil pressure. This can happen at any time, even if you`ve recently had an oil change.
If you don`t take care to insert the stick fully, you introduce an error. And, sometimes oil clinging to the dipstick tube will cause an erroneous reading.
With most cars, it`s recommended that drivers check their oil when the engine is cold. However, some automakers recommend checking when the engine is warm for certain vehicles. To determine for sure which one applies to your car, check your Owner`s Manual.
Insert the dipstick into the tube slowly and push it all the way down. Now withdraw it and look closely at the tip, which should have oil on it. If the level of the oil is between the two lines, your vehicle has enough oil. If it`s at the low mark or below, it`s time to add a quart.
There are markings that indicate the level the oil should reach. Sometimes there are holes instead of marks. If the oil doesn`t reach inside the markings or holes on the dipstick, you need to add at least one quart of oil. If the dipstick is not showing an oil level, you need to add oil immediately.
If the engine oil is overfilled by 1 litre or more, the connecting rod and crankshaft will whip oil into it, frothing the engine oil. This causes clogged plugs, rough idling, and engine misfire.
Engine damage – Too much lubricant in the system can cause pressure on the crankshaft to increase. This can result in oil entering the crankshaft exhaust pipe, running through into the combustion chamber, blocking the suction hose with oil soot and potentially leading to engine overload.
If you`re seeing oil on the ground but your dipstick reads more than full, you`ve overfilled the engine. Spills. If you`re seeing oil on the ground but aren`t seeing any lost oil from the dipstick, it could be that some oil got spilled and you`re just seeing the remaining oil that`s still dripping down off the engine.
Leaking in the vehicle`s oil passages can also lead to low pressure. Internal oil leaks can be caused by a myriad of factors, including worn piston rings and valve seals or PCV valve failure.
If you`re seeing oil on the ground but your dipstick reads more than full, you`ve overfilled the engine. Spills. My swimming pool. I have just had my fifth IC 40 Intellichlor chlorine generator installed in 4 years at a cost of over $900 today. Each one has worked for no more than 8 months. The first three were replaces under three year warranty, the fourth by a factory rep and I bought the fifth today. The first three all failed with Flow Chk PCB error message. The fourth just stopped working on Sunday, no power or lights. A local Pentair warranty person, whom I paid a Service Call, unplugged the unit, opened the small power center cover, showed me the green light indicating that there was power, plugged in a new IC 40 which worked immediately (as did the other four). I asked if I should replace the power center and he said that it’s basically just a transformer and is working fine. We do get occasional power blips that make the clocks on microwaves, etc blink, but I thought that the power center essentially isolates the cell from these. I do have a Florida Power and Light surge protector on the electrical box that brings power into the house. I have now talked to the pool builder, two Pentair warranty repairmen and one factory rep. I am at a loss. They all tell me they have no idea why these units fail after less than a year. This last IC 40 was installed 3/24/2010, version 2.0 and now failed in less than 5 months. Should I replace the power center that the IC 40 plugs into. Any other suggestions. I have been told that this is the best chlorinator. I don’t want to keep replacing units. By the way, each unit had been spotless inside. I keep the water chemicals and salt levels at ideal levels. The units have never worked long enough to get dirty inside. The power center is connected to an Intellitouch control system outside with an indoor control panel. Last time I called Pentair North Carolina and got some smart alec tech person that had no suggestions. Please Help if you can.

I have a TX500, never been used (just out of the box) and had to get an electrician to my home for this problem. It will start rolling but quits in a few seconds. The electrician believes that it is a problem in the sensor that rides at the belt. There is only one sensor in the pulley; he thinks that perhaps there should be two as there is a hole placement opposite the one that is in there. When the belt quits, it goes to a number 3 on the board which he thinks is the sensor as well. If he is correct, where do we get another magnet to place there? If he is not correct, please offer help. We did not get a owners manual in the box and surely could use one; where can we get one? Please help…thankyou

Bike pedal is striped , get a new one or buy new bike?
ANSWER : It depends on the bike. if it’s a “cheap-o” bike;
if it’s one for little kids that costs under $50 – $70 or so then yeah, just get a new one.
if it’s a nice bike that cost you a bit more, i’d get it repaired at a bike shop or a sporting goods store.

I continually get code 90 (low/NO flow) from my 8111. I have disassembled, cleaned EVERYTHING, including the inlet port AT the pump (remind everybody to check this as stuff gets past the filter basket and will plug the pump inlet).

There is No air in the system and I get superb pressure at the outlet, yet I still get code 90. I again removed the flow sensor and put my ohm meter across the flow sensor terminals and activated the flapper and measured an open circuit. I used a heavier magnet to see if I could get make the internals of the sensor move to get an ohm reading, but I get nothing but an open circuit, ie: no measured resistance.

Can I simply bypass the defective flow sensor to trick the 8111 to think it has full flow without damaging the ‘brain’ of the system.?

Intex corp is useless at these questions. They have been out of stock on this sensor for months and are telling me “two weeks” for two months and now it’s “end of August” which I do not believe. Meanwhile I am making no chlorine while the 90 code is showing.

I love the 8111, this is the first problem I’ve had with it, and I’m frustrated that I can not get such an important part from them.

ANSWER : Have you been able to find a solution to this problem. I am having the same issue.

Spark plug wire boot grounding out on coil, 96 outback 2.5 automatic, just put new spark plug wires, new spark plugs, and new coil on. ran great for two weeks, now spark is jumping out of boot at coil on one wire, put old coil back on and still does it in the same spot. replaced wires again, and still does it in the same spot. seems to do it only under a load. Is my new spark plug on that cylinder bad? Does the coil need some insulation under it? It is the coil that sits right on top of the motor. Any ideas? thanks.
ANSWER : Sparks are high voltage, and will always follow the path of least resistance. If you can visibly see a spark (whether in a lighted area, or in the dark), that means either that a plug wire (or coil wire) is open (non conductive), or your have a carbon track on the surface where the spark can be seen, but most likely you have BOTH problems!

If you have an ohmmeter, check the resistance of each wire involved, particularly spark plug wires … which means you must be able to connect to both ends of each wire at the same, and hopefully, FLEX those wires, to be sure they don’t have a break inside that is intermittent (comes and goes)!

Ok, so last week one of my airsoft guns, the Crosman Stinger R39, and part of the cocking mechanism broke to where it can not be pulled back, and the Airsoft pellet cannot be loaded into the chamber. so I took it apart, to get the other half of the cocking mechanism. I then proceeded to fix it (with gorilla apoxy) and let it dry until today. a little while ago, I put it back together, tried to **** it back, and – SNAP – it broke….. again. is there a place to buy replacement parts replacement parts for it?
