Fill the tank about 2/3 full. put the cap on tight, pump the air pump about 50 to 75 times to pressurize the fuel tank, you may have to turn the pump knob in a few turns to get a good pressure feel when you are pumping, then push the pump down all the way and turn the knob in until it gets snug. then you turn the gas knob on until you hear a hissing noise. turn it off and stick a large lit match in thru one of the holes in the steel plate below the lens and hold it close to one of the mantles then turn the gas on again and it should light up. let it run for a minute or so until the mantles light up brightly and then turn it on the rest of the way. I’ve done this hundreds of times. hope this helps and good luck. Jeepfxr
How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?
We offer a diverse range of insights on identifying and resolving common problems in sports. Our sources encompass academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays shared by seasoned athletes. :
The fabric of a hard mantle is supported by a metal frame that gives it a dome-like shape. In use, fuel is burned inside the mantle—the heating of the latter causes the thorium to emit an incandescent glow. The type of fuel depends on the type of lantern/lamp, it might be liquid or gas.
Usually a poorly burning lantern or stove will be from not enough fuel or not enough air. If your appliance is not getting the proper amount of fuel, it just won`t get as bright or as hot as it should. If it is starving from air it will not burn hot or bright and often times appear yellow.
The problem of an appliance not lighting is usually caused by one of two things. Either the generator is clogged-up with soot, or the fuel & air tube is blocked by dirt or varnish. Lanterns. (go to stoves) Give it 30 or 40 pumps to really pressurize it well.
propane cylinder will power the lantern for up to 4.3 hours on high and 9.25 hours on low.
I usually pump 30-40, unless its a 200A or 242 with the smaller fount. When they are full of fuel usually not much more than 25. Then I add some more pumps after lightup to replace what was lost, just until I`m hjappy, but probably just 10 pumps, give or take.
Beyond replacing damaged mantles, American Gas Lamp Works recommends that you replace your mantles at least once per year. Changing your mantles annually will ensure that your lamp remains bright and fuel-efficient.
You`ll know it`s fully charged when the LED indicator turns green. Once charged, this lantern shines 400 bright lumens more than 12 meters on its high setting. With a runtime of up to 4 hours on high and 20 hours on low, the sun will come up long before you need to recharge.
Check the bug screen: Bug screens exist to block insects from getting into your gas lantern. If the screen becomes obstructed, there won`t be enough oxygen in your gas lamp and the flame will be smothered. Check your bug screen for obstructions and use air to clean it. If it won`t come clean, replace the bug screen.
Our Verdict. The Coleman Northstar is a lantern`s lantern. It is a propane-fueled, car camping behemoth that is very, very bright. In fact, it receives the highest score for brightness of all the products we tested.
This Coleman lantern has three settings.. high(5 hours), medium(15 hours) and low(45 hours) before recharging. I like the convenient handle it has and I like how it looks.
Lighting. You must turn the little wire lever so it points upward; this causes the stove to burn a mixture of air and fuel from the top of the tank. This prevent catastrophic flooding of the stove with fuel, but with the wire pointing upwards, the tank loses pressure quickly.
Gas lanterns are incandescent lights. They burn a fuel like propane, white gas or kerosene to produce heat, and the heat causes the mantles to produce light. The mantles are a ceramic mesh that encase the flame produced by the lantern.
We recommend leaving gas lamps burning 24 hours a day to reduce wear-and-tear of the components and to keep the gas line warm, preventing any buildup of debris or insects that may effect proper gas flow. When using an open flame burner with Natural Gas, you may add an electronic ignition system for an upcharge.
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning with Camping Equipment
Never use portable heaters or lanterns while sleeping in enclosed areas such as tents, campers and vehicles.
Coleman fuel and unleaded gasoline burn at 7,500 BTU and will boil water in under 4 1/2 minutes. One tank will burn 1 hour and 20 minutes on high or 7 hours on simmer. Kerosene does not quite burn as hot at 6,500 BTUs but will burn for 2 hours and 25 minutes on high or 9 hours on simmer.
Storing one with fuel in it is often times a good idea. Use caution in where you store it, and don`t leave it pressurized. When you put it away for just-in-case storage, de-pressurize and snug down the filler cap just enough to keep the fuel inside should it get knocked over.
This outdoor lantern lasts up to 5 hours on high or 20 hours on low with 2.5 pints of fuel (sold separately).
If the grill is “not” hot and you still have this ERH error, the sensor may be dirty and require maintenance or the connection to the controller may be loose. Pellets are tunneling (stuck to the side of the hopper) before dropping suddenly into the auger or out of fuel procedure was not followed.
Article Talk. An incandescent gas mantle, gas mantle or Welsbach mantle is a device for generating incandescent bright white light when heated by a flame. The name refers to its original heat source in gas lights which illuminated the streets of Europe and North America in the late 19th century.
Apply a match or lighter to the bottom of the mantle and ignite it. Ensure that all of it burns. 8. Allow it to cool before lighting the lantern.
Sky lanterns can fly up to 3,000 feet and lasts for around 6 to 20 minutes, or when the flame burns out. However, there is no guarantee that the fire will be completely out and cooled when the lanterns eventually land. Consequently, any contact with a flammable surface could start a fire.
Extremely flammable
The lanterns can reach a height of up to 800 metres, burn for 20–40 minutes, and drift in the air for several kilometres. If one of the lanterns falls to the ground while it is still burning, it can start a fire in a home or amongst vegetation.
Even with one of those excellent Leacock large brass tee handle lantern/lamp pumps I found that you can`t over pressure a QL lantern or CQ lamp. The cup in the air stem will begin to leak around the tip of the pump once you get past about 30 psi.
If the appliance is not started properly, it can become flooded. This usually means that the generator if not hot enough to handle the amount of fuel passing through it, which results raw gas or kerosene being fed to the burner. This collects on the inside of the burner until it ignites into a large flame.
