For this guide, we recommend using sand for punching bags as it will weigh more, but a bag base filled with water will still give you a great workout. The reason we recommend sand for punching bags is that the base can fit 350 lbs. of sand, but only 250 lbs. of water.
You are far better off filling the base with sand if you are looking at increasing the weight of the actual punching bag. In this way you have a larger volume to hand and can add more sand. If you fill with water, you may find that the water sloshes out so it is not as effective in terms of weight increase.
The FightCamp team strongly recommends filling your base with 350 pounds (158.8 kg) of dry sand, which means you`ll need a funnel, a trip to the local hardware or home improvement store, and some patience. There`s a second option that involves filling the base with water, which is what we did.
see less You just unscrew the punching bag out of the base and set it aside. If you put a lot of sand in, leave the punching bag screwed in and use it as mechanical advantage to tip the base over. Unscrew the cap and poor out the sand.
I would definitely recommend taking the top off before out store it outside as leaving the BOB outside would invalidate the 1-year warranty. Also, you could fill the base with sand which is heavier than water as an extra benefit.
If you pour water on the sand, the water seems to disappear into the sand. It doesn`t actually disappear—it drains into the tiny pores between the grains. Once all these pores are filled with water, the sand is saturated, which means that the sand cannot take up any more water.
But keeping your punching bag outside isn`t the best idea. Direct sunlight, heat, and rain can damage your bag as we mentioned above. So, if you train outside, make sure to do so somewhere dry, with limited or no direct sunlight.
Holds up to 270 lbs. of sand or water.
Although it`s hard to know exactly how many fighters do drink alcohol during their fight camps, we know that many professional fighters do drink alcohol. Our personal recommendations would be to avoid all forms of alcohol in the lead up to any fights.
Fill the Base with Sand

Most free-standing bag bases can be filled with either water or sand, but the heavier sand offers more stability and won`t slosh around. For even more stability, we recommend that you fill the base with a combination of water and sand.

Wash with Vinegar or Baking Soda

Fill your washing machine with hot water and add either vinegar or baking soda. Let the cycle run for a few minutes before draining the water. This will help to remove any sand that`s still stuck in your machine.

If you don`t have time to wash your hair, dry shampoo can help get the sand out of your hair. Apply it to your roots and let it sit for a few minutes before brushing it through your hair.
Apply the duct tape means: To make the punching bag more durable (due to the increased elasticity and resistance) To maintain its original shape for a longer time (many times, low-level boxing bags quickly deform) To solve / prevent all of the most common problems (holes, lacerations, scuffing, etc.)
Quicksand, also known as sinking sand, is a colloid consisting of fine granular material (such as sand, silt or clay) and water. It forms in saturated loose sand when the sand is suddenly agitated. When water in the sand cannot escape, it creates a liquefied soil that loses strength and cannot support weight.
Wet sanding, which is sanding with the addition of water to act as a lubricant, is less abrasive than dry sanding, and results in a smoother finish. It`s best to wet-sand the final finish of a project. Dry sanding removes more material, and smooths rough material quickly.
But if you want to fill a boxing bag yourself, there are many good options. You can use seed, grain or rice for example, even plastic granulate is possible.
FILLING SANDBAGS:

Fill sandbags one-half full. Sand is suggested if readily available, however, sand is not mandatory and soil may be used. Fold top of sandbag down and rest the bag on its folded top.

One of the biggest benefits of punching bags used in a workout is that it increases forearm, wrist, and general punch strength. An added benefit is that working out on a bag can be done every day, as long as your hands and muscles feel up to it.
Zircon is normally rated as having the greatest density among heavy sands and it has the smallest particle size, though some Chromite sand density values overlap the Zircon numbers. 1.00 pound of Zircon displaces 149cc vs. 295cc for Play Sand. So, that means Zircon is 98% heavier than an equal volume of Play Sand.
A great partner for sparring techniques or target work, the original BOB – Body Opponent Bag is a life-like mannequin with a vinyl “skin” for more realistic self-defense training. BOB features seven height adjustments from 60 inches to 78 inches tall. BOB is ideal for punching and strikes.
Here`s what he told us: “Because our mouths can become dry in the ring, and a lot of times you just want to get your mouth moist enough to be able to continue to the next round. We do swallow some water, though, and spit the rest.”
There`s so many benefits to aiding swimming to your boxing training. Swimming works a variety of muscles, burns calories and it is all in an intense manner. It`s a fully body workout, that improves the capacity of your lungs and heart.
Sleep more

This may sound strange, but many fighters and other sportspeople have said that they like to sleep before a fight. It helps them to relax, and it passes the time.

Drinking alcohol can reduce your force and strength; both of which are essential parts of boxing. Even just three small glasses of wine can have a negative impact on the strength of your performance in the ring. And for anyone with a soft-tissue injury, it`s best to steer clear of the booze.

Need the wire diagram to rewire my Ariens lawnmover to bypass the safety switch. It is Ariens GT-19 model # 931026 Serial # 001463.
Can you help? It is an old Ariens mower but still runs good but now I need to bypass the safety switch in order to run it any longer. The local Ariens dealer said I need to go through the internet and get the wire diagram as they cannot give it to me directly. They told me I needed the wire diagram and the part involved in bypassing the safety switch. Hope this is all the information you need to help me.

Thank you. Roger Fielitz

ANSWER : Here is owner manual:http://apache.ariens.com/manuals/030305C.pdfusually the switch is behind the ignition, sometimes at the N position of gearshift, just look for a switch with one wire coming in & one going out (usually the same color); disconnect the two wires & jumper them together to bypass the switch. Looks like yours has one under the seat.

I have Detroit 60 series installed on a launch. Recently the Starboard unit suffers a catastrophic failure and piston No2 came out of the block, making a big hole. This engines are using heat exchangers, and sea water cooled Charge Air Coolers and sea water self priming raw water pump. We contact the local dealer an the veredict was a “Massive salt water ingestion” that caused an Hydraulic lock and damaged cyls 6 and 2. They say that the water came from the deck covers, but there is no way for that to happen, I think they dont want to honor any warranty, because we suspect that the water came from the Charge Air Cooler. I want to know if the CAC can cause that type of failures and if anyone had a similar problem. The engine cost is about 66K and only had 2300 hours.
ANSWER : I would have to say that a sleeve got pitted or lost an oring or the CAC sprung a leak. I believe you are correct in your assumption that the water did not enter the unit in the manner they are saying. The only real way to tell is a complete tear down and someone is going to have to pay. They are also a high maintenance item and someone is going to say that the preventive maintenance was not done.
