How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

We offer a diverse range of insights on identifying and resolving common problems in sports. Our sources encompass academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays shared by seasoned athletes. :

The Model 88 was discontinued in 1973 and is the third best-selling lever-action rifle in Winchester`s history, following only the M1894 and M1892. The later Sako Finnwolf and Browning BLR have similar actions.
But unlike with the Model `73, there are no modern-day copies of the Model 88. Last manufactured in 1973, they have become collectibles—and in their rare caliber and pre-64 versions very valuable—yet the hunters who own Winchester Model 88s swear by them still and, more importantly, use them.
Original Problem

In its original design, the Model 88 had a trigger stop pin. If a shooter was wearing heavy gloves, the gloves could prevent him from fully closing the lever. This kept the trigger stop pin forward and prevented pulling the trigger far enough to release the hammer.

The 22-inch barrel of the Model 88 has the same contour as introduced on the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 1952, and with a muzzle diameter of 0.560 inch, it is quite thin. Rifling twist rates are 1:10 for the .
The Winchester Model 1894 rifle (also known as the Winchester 94 or Model 94) is a lever-action repeating rifle that became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles of all time.
There were only 132 One of One Thousand rifles produced in the Winchester 1873 Model, and a scant eight of the Model 1873 One of One Hundreds– only six of which are known today.
The new technology included a spring-closed loading port on the right-hand side of the frame, directly at the rear of the magazine tube, and resulted in the first reliable lever-action repeating rifle, produced as the first Winchester, Model 1866. Manufacturing of the Model 1866 started in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The . 260 Remington and 7mm-08 cartridges, which would have been perfect for the Model 88, were not introduced until long after it had been discontinued. The sample Model 88 that I shot, which was owned by a good friend, was an accurate rifle, delivering groups averaging about 1.5 MOA.
The . 50-110 WCF (also known as the . 50-100-450 WCF , with different loadings) in modern 1886 Winchesters with modern steel barrels is the most powerful lever-action cartridge, with up to 4,000 foot-pounds (5,400 J) of energy.
Today, the Winchester Model 70 may be the best rifle the company has ever made. They beat the pants off anything Remington has ever produced, and they`ve turned many of us into believers in their rifles again.
What is the best barrel twist rate? The best barrel twist rate depends on what type of bullet you are shooting. A fast twist rate such as a 1:7” twist barrel will work better with long-range modern bullets where as a shorter twist such as 1:10” or 1:11” twist barrel will work better with shorter bullets.
Our experience has shown that for a . 308 caliber tactical rifle with the overall rifle weight and shooting distances mentioned earlier, a barrel of 24-27″ is optimum in one of the fairly heavy contours we discussed. Closer ranges or other considerations might dictate a shorter barrel.
The M1 Garand is the greatest battle implement ever devised. Those words are as true today as when they were first spoken by General Patton in 1945. Whether it`s defending your homestead or defending the homeland, no other rifle beats the classic M1. This all-American favorite first came to life in the early 1930s.
For those reasons, the 270 Winchester is a quintessential deer and sheep hunting cartridge. The cartridge is not limited to thin-skinned medium game like sheep or deer though. Indeed, many hunters use the 270 Winchester on bigger game like black bear, elk, and even moose with a lot of success each year though.
All Winchester over and unders in recent years have been made in our partner factory in Belgium with additional assembly work done in our factory in Portugal.
The Winchester Model 1873 rifle is one of the most famous lever-action firearms, but many manufacturers (notably Henry and Marlin) also produce lever-action rifles.
Today, I have proved that the Winchester SX4 is the fastest semi-automatic rifle in the world.” In fact, Raniero Testa obtained his record by breaking the 13 trays in only 1.6 seconds!
In the 1800s the idea of a repeating rifle was finally realized by Oliver Winchester, the largest stockholder of the New Haven Arms Co. of Connecticut. He was assigned US patent No.
Meanwhile, Sammy has died just eight times (slacker!), but he does have the distinction of being the first brother to die, way back in Season 2. In honor of the show`s final season, TVLine has compiled all of Dean and Sam`s many, many death scenes, with details on how they died — and how they were brought back to life.
Winchester is home to a world-famous Cathedral, with the longest medieval nave in Europe, and containing numerous ancient monarchs of Wessex and Winchester. Behind the cathedral, you will find Winchester College – one of the oldest continuously-running schools in the country founded by Bishop William of Wykeham.
WINSTED >> There are 25 towns and cities named Winchester in the United States.
Equipped with a 2-7x variable power scope and a steel scope mount/rings, plus a good recoil pad, a Model 88 would weigh about 8 to 8.25 pounds.
While the U.S. military never formally adopted the Winchester, a number of other countries did. The Ottoman Army used the repeaters to great effect against the Russians during the Russo-Turkish War (1877–78).
The Marlin tends to be slightly muzzle-heavy, and hangs on a target much better for me than the Winchester. Both rifles carry well in the hand, with perhaps a slight edge to the trimmer Winchester.

The following is Wisner’s rendition & info on the subject.
The difference in the old firing pin and the new one is as follows. The old replaced
style, was totally lathe tuned (round). While the new recall style is similar in lathe
turning on the front and back, but in the front midsection it has two flats milled, one
on each side. This makes the center section stronger. Also replaced is the bolt sleeve
lock pin (firing pin guide) which was made to accommodate this different shaped firing
pin
Part number for the new parts are, firing pin =1391ND, bolt sleeve locking pin =1491ND
The word was at the time this recall was in process was that if the firing pin would
break at the mid section and still remain in the gun as two pieces, the possibility of a
premature discharge before the bolt was locked was possible. This apparently was caused
by the firing pin tip (now not having a retracting spring) to be stuck forward, and
thereby slam-firing upon chambering.
The responsibility for the recall apparently was on Olin, as they were the parent company
at time of manufacture. Olin set up regional recall centers at three established US
gunshops. There was a manufacturing delay in the replacement firing pins, and a backlog
occurred, also some collectors did not like the idea of shipping their guns long
distances. Olin then also authorized other gunshops to make the required alterations.
Upon completion of the recall, the shops were to test fire the firearm and to stamp an
assigned letter on the inside top of the receiver as seen thru the magazine well with the
bolt retracted. The letter “B” represented Bolsa Gunsmithing, “L” was Lefever, and “N”
was for Nu-line Guns. The letter “X” apparently was for all the other independent shops.
However this identification information did not get communicated to some of the smaller
shops at the start of the project. The only way to tell if the gun as been modified, if
the ”letter” is not present, is to take the barrel & action out of the stock, remove the
trigger guard assembly and the try to rotate the firing pin by twisting it. If it does
NOT rotate, then the firing pin recall HAS been performed.

I have the Intex Sand/Pump pool filter Model SF 20110. It’s been running real great for the last 4 months. However recently it has been tripping the internal overloads and I have found the pump motor to be very hot when I put my hand against it. I have tried several different solutions, such as a level ground platform that was clear of any obstructions, made sure that the motor vents under the motor was clear of anything that would prevent air flow. I used a non electrical type of lubricate on the impeller. When I would turn on the pump the rotor would not turn but only would hum very loudly and then slowly begin to turn. I also noticed that the motor’s rotor shaft would not turn to freely due the tightness around the rotor’s shaft. After using the lubricate the shaft would turn a little easier. I used an amp meter on the incoming voltage line and the motor would run at 4.5 amp. And yet it still overheated and tripped the motor overloads. I can only think that the motor is still not getting enough ventilation. I have check and cleared all the incoming lines and found nothing block the pumps input or output lines. Any suggestion?
ANSWER : I just looking into this issue my self. The pump cools itself by a internal fan, which is run by the motor. Well I took the housing cover off to find out all the fan blades have broken off and were setting in the base of the pump. Once you remove the fan blades from covering the air intake, it might be fine. I will find out my self once summer gets here.

I bought the Knoxx adjustable stock for my mossberg 500. The forend that comes with it is realy nice and Ide like to use it, but the end nut will not reach the threads. Do i need to buy a new adapter nut that is longer to secure my forend ? I saw one for sale by houge but wasnt sure if that would work on the knoxx forend ?? I realy like the forend sent by knoxx, would be a shame not to use it. What a waste to give that nice piece away and not give the adapter to use it ?? Thanks Noel
ANSWER : That forearm is designed for the 7 5/8″ slide action tube. I’m guessing yours is the 6 1/2″ slide action tube. Take the forearm off your tube and measure it with a ruler. From the very back edge of the action bar collar….that round part the bars are pinned to….all the way to the front edge of the threads. If yours is a 6 1/2″, the Hogue adapter won’t work. You’ll need to buy a new slide action tube. That Hogue adapter is meant to let you use the Hogue rubber coated forearm on your standard sized tube….the Hogue rubber forearm is a hair longer than the standard tube. It won’t give you the length to make up the entire shorter tube length. If you’re handy with a dremel, you could go adapter plus a bit of careful cutting but I won’t suggest you do it if you aren’t certain of your skills.
