98 Custom Act Paintball Gun

Experienced athletes share their insights in answering this question:
Buy a oil for a few dollars made specifically for paintball. Put a few drops in the ASA(where the tank screws in) screw the tank in and try to fire it about 10 times. If the gun still goes FA or sputters, I highly recommend having it serviced by a local pro shop or Tippmann.

Our of the box, The Tippmann 98 custom is a semi-automatic paintball gun, with a decent fire rate of 8 balls per second.
Tippmann`s 98 Custom Platinum Series . 68 Caliber Paintball Gun Marker with Maddog`s Protective HPA Paintball Gun Accessory Kit has everything you need for field entry! Fill Your Tank, Add Some Paint, GAME ON! (Paintballs Sold Separately – Paintball Tank Must Be Filled Prior to Use).
The Tippmann® Flatline Barrel offers patented technology that creates a backspin for level accurate shots. It is designed for longer range and accuracy up to 250 feet. This barrel also includes a built-in foregrip and barrel sleeve.
Tippman A5 is a good option particularly for beginners or intermediate level players who want a reliable marker that can keep them in the game against even more experienced players and is fun and easy to use. Unlike Spyder`s paintball guns, it uses less Co2 even with the air-powered carousel.
Paintball guns shoot in Feet Per Second (FPS) and it is how we measure velocity. Safe velocity is between 220 and 280 FPS. Paintball goggles are rated to withstand 300FPS and paintballs themselves are made to shoot optimally between the same ranges.
Most paintball playing fields require a maximum of 280 fps for safety purposes. With an effective range of 80 to 100 feet for the average 280-fps marker, a paintball can reach its target in about one-third of a second.
Pressurised air enables HPA guns to have faster rates of fire, be quieter, and have a higher FPS than electric and gas airsoft guns, making HPA guns a great choice for anyone who wants to airsoft competitively.
We can fill most HPA tanks of all sizes up to 4500 PSI, larger tanks should be left overnight to allow cooling time between fills (air losses pressure as it cools). We do not have the necessary equipment to fill Co2 tanks. Co2 tanks cannot be filled with compressed air like a HPA tank.
Types of Paintball Guns

Semi-automatic guns are the most popular type of gun, because they`re easy to operate. They require little maintenance, so it`s easy to just grab one and start playing. Pump-action guns work similarly to semi-automatic guns, but you have to manually pull back the pump with every shot.

Exploding Paintball Grenades

Exploding grenades are a small plastic bag surrounded by paint. It`s then wrapped around the explosive and fuse, wrapped in a fiber case. When you remove the cap and pull the ring, the fuse is ignited, and in three to five seconds, the grenade explodes.

Make sure there are no broken paintballs in the gun hopper that feeds them into the barrel. If there are any broken balls, they will clog up in the barrel causing your gun to jam when you pull the trigger. You can use a soft cloth to clean the inside of your hopper.
It`s very common that players feel a slight sting when being shot at. A lot of people say that it feels like a firm flick on the arm. The severity of the pain depends on the speed of the ball, the distance the ball travels and where it hits on your body. The pain is usually very mild and goes away quickly.
Not all paintball guns can be programmed to be fully automatic. You can find easy-to-follow guides on our Youtube channel at Lone Wolf Paintball by searching “how to program” followed by your paintball gun type.
Most airsoft guns on the market are usually below 350 ft/s (110 m/s), but projectiles expelled from any type of airsoft gun can travel as slow as 65 ft/s (20 m/s) to more than 700 ft/s (210 m/s) and are capable of breaking skin at 350–400 ft/s (110–120 m/s).
» How long does 100 paintballs last? Anywhere from 10 minutes to 3 hours…. Some players are trigger happy and blast through their paintballs and other players are conservative and make every shot count. On average approx 95% of players buy extra paintballs.
This compact lightweight HPA tank is Globally Certified, which means it`s approved for use in the USA, Canada and Europe. Many paintball and airsoft players use this with a remote line setup. Expect to get 450 to 850 shots per fill with your paintball marker or 1900 shots with your Tippmann M4 Carbine Airsoft Gun.
Normal airsoft FPS has a massive range: it is normal for weapons to be 150 FPS and it is common for weapons to be 350 FPS. It all depends on the type of weapon you choose. For pistols, it is much more normal to see the 150 to 200 FPS range. While for assault rifles, ones below an FPS of 250 are generally not effective.
CO2 is easier to compress compared to air. This means it produces less heat and, in this way, asks less of the equipment used for compression.
An airsoft gun powered by CO2 must be much more powerful than equipment running on Green Gas. CO2 is compressed under greater pressure, so it can damage more delicate structures. This also translates into greater airsoft gun power, i.e. FPS muzzle velocity.
This compact lightweight HPA tank is great for keeping your loadout tight and maneuverable. Many paintball pistol and airsoft players use this with a remote line setup. Expect to get 150 to 250 shots per fill with your paintball marker or 500 shots with your Tippmann M4 Carbine Airsoft Gun.
The way HPA works is that an airsoft gun is connected to a tank or bottle filled with highly pressurized air (3000 PSI or 4500 PSI/206 or 310 BAR).
They also only have a lifespan of 15 years. HYDROSTATIC TEST or HYDROTEST – The tank is visually inspected for cracks then is pressurized with water to look for a drop in pressure or to see if there are any leaks.
A fully charged CO2 cylinder at 87.9 oF will have an internal pressure of approximately 1100 psi. At 120 oF the same cylinder will have an internal pressure of nearly 2000 psi.
Air pumps in planted aquariums

Plants take in CO2 during the day and release oxygen. At night, this process reverses, so they are diminishing the oxygen levels in the water and increasing the CO2 levels.

98 Custom Act Paintball Gun: i have just brought a 98 tippmann custom and it ha…
ANSWER : Basically speaking, air is air. Now it’s the pressure that’s the concern. co2 bottles use a regular valve that has a pin in it and opens to allow the gas through. High Pressure Air – HPA is the same concept but since the pressure with co2 is built up by expanding gas, HPA has to do it with pressure only. So the tank is pressurized a LOT higher than co2, but there’s a regulator on the tank valve to bring the working pressure into the marker to the proper level. So yes, you can use “air”, but you need to make sure it has the right output for your marker. (i.e. not a low pressure HPA valve.). You’ll have the same problem though, getting someone to fill the bottle. Check with your local airsmith and paintball fields and stores. If they have co2 they would have HPA, but some do only deal with HPA since it’s “easier” in some cases. You may have to check around. Sometimes hardware stores have a small section in back, or you can check with the paintball places around to see if anyone in your area is equipped. Some teams have their own tanks, especially if there’s not a place to get fills locally. There’s also online communities like Brigade and various paintball sites where you can check around for other players. Someone may have a co2 fill tank, a scuba tank for HPA, or a group that gets tanks together to make a run and get them filled somewhere.Good luck!

Play hard, play safe, play with honor!

I just bought a new tippmann 98 custom act platinum edition and it doesnt seem to be firing right. i upgrades the rear bolt and trigger and after a few shots the bolt lock in the firing position. if i pull the trigger forward there is a click and then it will fire, but imediatly lock up again
ANSWER : I would look in to the bolt and check that it moves freely, also check that is properly lubed, and finally that your upgrade bolt does not need a different spring. I would also check the batteries on the grip if it is an E-trigger.

Cannot adjust velocity
ANSWER : Please see below page 8 for picture of what I am talking about.

On page 8 in the middle left side is a picture of the internal vale parts.

When you pull the valve out on the back side is a little o ring that can be taken out using an o ring pick. Make sure to watch the way the parts come out and look for any rust, also broken o rings if the valve is stuck open this will allow the maximum of air to pass. Most of time is this part that is messed up. You can by the valve in one unit this is the best option.

But the first thing is to check the valve and all the parts. Lube it up and re install it.

How to set velocity on tippnan 98 custom – Tippmann 98 Custom Act Paintball Gun
ANSWER : There is a velocity adjuster on the left side of the body, just below and to the right of the “N” in “TIPPMANN.”

In order to adjust the velocity you need to be in a place where it is safe and legal to fire your marker (paintball field, with all bystanders protected by netting or paintball goggles.) You will need a chronograph and a 3/16-inch hex wrench.

The adjuster is a screw that blocks the gas flow from the valve to the bolt. If you screw it in (clockwise) it blocks more of the gas, so your velocity goes down. If you screw it out (anti-clockwise) it blocks less gas, so the velocity goes up.

Just take a shot over the chronograph to check your velocity, adjust and check again until you get it where you want it. Most paintball fields limit velocity to 285 feet per second. Never go above 300 feet per second, as velocities above that are unsafe (beyond paintball goggle ratings and can cause damage and infection on skin due to the heavy impact.)

It is important to test and adjust the velocity before each day of play, and even multiple times during the day as weather changes, because it is affected by temperature.

I attempted to put a car stock on my Tippmann 98 custom and took apart the gun but the stock didnt fit, now when i put it back together and shot it with my tank connected the gun wont stay cocked and little CO2 is coming out with each shot the sound is very low as opposed to my other Tipmann 98 custom where its loud and stays cocked. What do i do?
ANSWER : Check the O rings on the big metal striker, make sure that you have the spring on the back (where the stock would have went) in the right hole on the back plate. Make sure that your velocity is set to a reasonable level.
