How to Identify and Resolve Common Issues ?

A: It comes with a bottle of oil that you have to put in yourself. I found this unit to work real well for the price.
First step, check the fuel tank to make sure there is enough fuel to operate your snow blower. You should see fuel slosh around. Second step, check the spark plug. A wet plug means there`s fuel going through the fuel system and there may be an issue with the ignition.
Most snowblowers come with a small bottle of oil good for only 1 gallon of gas. We know as well as you do that a single gallon of mixed fuel isn`t enough to get through the winter. We recommend ordering a six-pack of 2-cycle engine oil instead. Sure, it might sound excessive.
Like any engine-powered machine, snowblowers require oil. By default, snow blowers do not have an air filter, which is why it`s important to wear personal protection equipment whenever operating your snow blower.
Since snow blowers operate exclusively in cold weather, they typically use SAE 5W-30 weight oil, which ensures the engine will start in cold weather. Make sure to check the maintenance section of the snow blower`s operating manual for the proper oil weight.
The most common culprit of a hard-starting engine is stale fuel. If you left fuel in the tank over the summer, it`s best to drain it by accessing the fuel line or using a siphon system.
For use with CRAFTSMAN® Single-Stage and 2-Stage Snow Blowers with 4-cycle engines. Includes: 28 Oz. Bottle Of Sae 5W-30 Engine Oil.
The type of oil you use depends on the outdoor temperature range. If the lowest temperatures in your area never get more than a few degrees below zero Fahrenheit, that`s -17 Celsius, a 10W-30 oil will do. For colder climates, use a 5W-30 grade. A synthetic 5W-30 will work for most winter temperatures.
Typically we recommend a break in period of 6-10 tanks of fuel. During this period the engine should not be allowed to run at high RPMs for extended periods of time.
Your machine does not come with oil in the engine, but it does come with a bottle of oil. Important: Before starting the engine, fill the engine with oil.

I have a 2004 60 hp yamaha 2 stroke outboard engine that doesn’t start or run well. Once warm and in the water it will idle in nuetral and also in gear. It accelerates in neutral but will die or lack power if I increase throttle while in gear. Engine will somtimes get to top speed but often while running at top speed engine will start to slow rapidly. Engine has full range of operationout when out of the water where there is no load on engine but is still difficult to cold start. Before these recent problems the engine sat up for several months and I had to change the impeller and spark plugs. Spark plugs fire, cylinders have proper pressure of 100, 100, and 110. I cleaned some fuel lines and filters and got new gas.
ANSWER : Every sympton you are describing here can be attributed to fuel starvation due to blocked jets and or water in carbs, when your engine dies does it die with dry plugs, or wet oily ones?

Does the John Deere series 100 lawn tractor have some sort of safety feature that shuts the engine off if it gets dangerously low on oil? I was cutting grass this morning and the engine sputtered and quit. I got off the tractor and noticed that the oil drain line plug was open and dripping oil. Have I ruined my engine or can I refill it with oil and continue on?
ANSWER : Not sure on this specific mower, but oil is usually there to lubricate and keep the temp down. When theres none in it, it gets hot and melts the pistons. Sounds bad to me

Craftsman snow blower wheels wont move. Help!
ANSWER : If it is a 5.5 HP dual stage, like mine, it could be that the belt has popped off the friction pulley. If you drain the gas, tip the unit on its “face” and remove the large shield on the bottom you will see a 3″ pulley attached to the drive shaft. There will also be what looks like a fan belt floating around in there. That fan belt nees to go on the pullet, as it serves as the friction disk tio drive the wheels. Good luck. this happens to mine ALL the time. very frustrating. čÖü
